Katy Perry Favourite for X-Factor Role

Katy Perry is 7/2 to be announced as the next permanent judge on the X-Factor amidst the uncertainty as to whether Simon or Cheryl return for the 2011 UK show.

X-Factor favourite

Gary Barlow recently finished top of a poll to find out who the nation would prefer as a new judge and he is currently the 4/1 joint second favourite with former judge, Sharon Osbourne. Nicole Scherzinger, Robbie Williams and Paula Abdul are all 8/1 with Michael Buble at 10/1.

“Katy Perry was very well liked when she appeared on last year’s show and the odds suggest that she is in pole position to either take over from a departing judge or become a fifth judge on the show,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly.

William Hill Next X-Factor Judge Odds:

7/2 Katy Perry; 4/1 Gary Barlow; 4/1 Sharon Osbourne; 8/1 Nicole Scherzinger; 8/1 Robbie Williams; 8/1 Paula Abdul; 10/1 Michael Buble; 14/1 Sinitta; 16/1 Leona Lewis; 16/1 Geri Halliwell; 16/1 Kylie Minogue; 20/1 Pixie Lott; 20/1 Lily Allen; 20/1 Natalie Imbruglia; 20/1 Ronan Keating; 20/1 Kelly Rowland; 20/1 Lulu; 25/1 Charlotte Church; 25/1 Alexandra Burke; 25/1 Emma Bunton; 50/1 Victoria Beckham; 50/1 Madonna; 50/1 Pete Waterman; 66/1 Eminem

Matt Cardle Now Odds-On To Win X Factor

MATT NOW ODDS-ON TO WIN X FACTOR – Semi Final Betting

With just two shows left and just five contestants remaining it’s the beginning of the end for this year’s X Factor.

Of the five semi-finalists remaining Essex crooner Matt Cardle is the red-hot 8/11 odds-on favourite to sing his way to victory, followed by Simon Cowell’s remaining act One Direction at 3/1.

Scouse babe Rebecca, who was likened to the Queen of soul Aretha Franklin by nearly all of the judges last Saturday night, is 4/1, followed by seventeen year-old Cher Lloyd at 16/1. The game looks completely up for Dubliner Mary Byrne with Paddy Power now making her their 40/1 rank outsider to win and t heir 5/6 favourite to be the next act eliminated!

Sharon McHugh, spokesperson for Paddy Power said: “If the betting is anything to go by Matt Cardle looks to have it in the bag but previous years have proved that everything could change in the final couple of weeks. One Direction’s popularity shouldn’t be underestimated. It’s still all to sing for!”

Katie Next For X Factor Elbow?

She might have survived Sunday night’s elimination but drama queen Katie’s time is running out according to Paddy Power.

The blonde songstress is already the Even money favourite to get the boot from next weekend’s X Factor show after finding herself once again in the bottom two. It brings to three the number of times Katie has had to sing for survival.

Sharon McHugh, spokesperson for Paddy Power said: “Katie has been hanging on in there for the last few weeks but it’s obvious she is missing the crucial likeability factor – she looks a certainty to go this weekend!”

Meanwh ile Scouse beauty Rebecca Ferguson has seen her odds slashed to 2/1 with Paddy Power after delivering a spine tingling version of Bob Dylan’s ‘Make You Feel My Love’. Matt Cardle and boy band One Direction are also still very much favourites at 6/4 and 10/3.

As for Wagner – Elvis may have turned in his grave after the Brazilian mashed up ‘Viva Las Vegas’ and ‘The Wonder of You’ but it looks like the long haired lothario is going to be around for some time! Paddy Power are quoting 5/2 that Wagner will last longer on the show than Irish twins Jedward did last year and a cautious 7/1 that he’ll make it all the way to final week!

Wow what a weekend! It is fair to say it was a very busy betting weekend. Firstly the Boylesports Gold Cup went to Poquelin as advised and the 5/1 on offer soon became 7/2, but Paul Nicholls’ horse won very well. Gamble landed as they say!

Saturdays football was a disaster for all but the bookies. On Sunday though we made them pay with Arsenal at 5/2, as advised proving top value. No surprises on X-Factor but what a shock, Giggs winning the BBC Sports Personality of the year award. One William Hill punter lost £24.500 on that result, ouch!

We have a great weekend of Sport and TV ahead of us. Yesterday was just huge bad luck with a last fence faller that looked all over the winner.

Cheltenham kicks off with two days of top class racing, The big race tomorrow is the BoyleSports Gold Cup as well as some really good hurdle races. I think Nicholls and Walsh could have a big weekend with a host of winners.

Football is as usual exciting.  It doesn’t get any easier for Liverpool who face Arsenal on Sunday at home. Can they get a result? In my book Arsenal are the value bet of the weekend.

John and Edward Gone From X-Factor

The bubble burst as favourite Olly Murs and JEdward in Bottom Two…

Suntalk listeners will know that I am relieved that John and Edward were eliminated from Sundays X-Factor, having laid £50 at 100/1 to Martel Maxwell who was sitting in for Jon Gaunt. Their elimination is a big relief I can tell you! Having taken some stick, its my turn to dish it out!

Simon Cowell had the chance to eliminate the Twins a couple of weeks ago but played the let the public decide card. It back-fired on Cowell in the media and it seems the support for JEdward disappeared tonight too.Cowell said he gave Olly a “contemporary song” in Fast Love. It was actually released in 1996, 13 years ago, positively up to the minute!

So the novelty act has gone, now perhaps it can be a singing competition, which Cowell said it was until the ratings and headlines made him do a U-turn.

Danni Minogue made that very point but may have signed her own P45 as Cowell has already stated that the show will be better served by three judges, not the current four. I said a couple of weeks ago that Cowell had his Gerald Ratner moment when saving JEdward. I still think the X-Factor has peaked and we will see a steady decline from here.

The elimination of JEdward tops a great weekend for me. Racing Diary readers were in clover with big racing winners on Saturday, seven out of ten weekend football results forecast and today Vic Venturi won the Becher chase at a whopping 7/1 on Sunday, a great price. Kauto Star landed a charity bet for Children In Need for us on Saturday.

I will sleep a bit better tonight knowing I do not have to find £5000 to give Martel. Instead I get £50 from her, which I will ask her to send, with my complements to Help for Heroes.

I wonder if Gaunty will be asking on his show on Monday, “Is the X-Factor Finished?” Tune in to find out from 10am on Monday.

Britains Bookies were this evening dancing in the aisles as the gruesome twosome Jedward FINALLY exited stage left from talent show The X-Factor.

The Irish duo had been heavily punted to win the contest, and Bookmakers William Hill were staring down the barrel of a seven-figure payout if the Brothers Grim had gone all the way.

Ruperts Adams, spokesman for William Hill, said: Jedward would cost the industry a cool seven figure sum and we couldnt be happier that they are going home. We also make it a betting certainty that the vast majority of those with a musical ear are ecstatic too!

William Hill offer odds of 25-1 that the pair make it a Festive farce with a Christmas Number One, and 2-1 that they top the charts at some point during 2010.

Suntalk - Listen Now

Suntalk - Listen Now

A brilliant weekend at the Breeders’ Cup with Europe winning six races (15/8 advised to do so) and a charity bet was landed as Goldikova showsher class to defy the coffin box draw. £100 from Stan James at 13/8 goes to Help for Heroes, a really pleasing outcome. Ventura who was a second charity bet was given too much to do and finished second, she should have won really.

Here is Goldikova winning at Santa Anita, odds on before the draw, she went off 13/8 and was as big as 7/4…won, wow!

Chelsea were winners against Manchester United and David Haye became World Heavy Weight Champion. The big talking point of the weekend is X-Factor and you can read what Jon Gaunt had to say in reaction to my view that Simon Cowell has lost all credibility by not giving the twins the boot.  Surely the twins bubble is about to burst?

Mondays Betting Tips;

Horseracing, two bets over jumps which is at Carlisle and Southwell today.

  • 1:55 Carlisle- Roll Along, Win.- Rated 160 class horse, first start for Twiston-Davies, real value at odds against
  • 3:50 Southwell- Chapel Flowers, Win.- Looking for a third win, should win and again is value.

Football
CHELSEA have gone odds-on to win the Premiership title for the first time this season, with William Hill, who make them 4/5 shots – and 11/10 not to be headed at the top for the rest of the campaign.. Hills make Arsenal and Man Utd 10/3 joint 2nd favourites, with Liverpool and Man City both 20/1, Spurs 100/1.

Tonight Liverpool face Birmingham at Anfield tonight. Would you take 4/11 about Rafa Benitez’s side? I certainly wouldn’t. The odds;

  • Liverpool 4/11, Birmingham 10/1, Draw 7/2.

I am going to have a small bet on Birmingham at 10/1, that is value with Liverpool in such poor form.

Boxing

David Haye is now a world Champion. He now wants to get the other belts.  DAVID HAYE is 8/15 favourite to win his next fight against John Ruiz and before the end of 2011 you can now bet;

  • Wladimir Klitschko 1/2 Draw 20/1 David Haye 6/4
  • Vitali Klitschko 2/5 Draw 20/1 David Haye 7/4
  • David Haye 8/15 Draw 20/1 John Ruiz 11/8
  • David Haye to unify WBC, WBA, IBF and WBO Heavyweight titles 4/1

X-Factor

Agree or disagree with the decision, but the Twins are still there. Lucy was the shock eviction. So who will win and who will go next?

X-Factor, Simon Cowell Kicks Punters in the Pockets

X-Factor 2009

X-Factor 2009

Lloyd was the red hot favourite to get the elbow tonight, punters piled in on what looked a certainty! But once again X-Factor 2009 sprung a surprise and Lloyd Daniels was saved. The sing off on Sunday night in-fact featured the terrible twins, “JEDWARD” for the first time ever. During the final show down the Grimes twins traded at 100/1 on Betfair, they were a foregone conclusion to be voted off.

With their fate in his hands sat Simon Cowell, all he had to say was “The act I am send home is John and Edward” and that would have been it, game over! Here is how it happened…

For weeks Simon Cowell has said that X-Factor is a singing competition and that the Irish twins are talentless, going so far even as to say that if they were to win he would leave the country. So why did Simon Cowell not deliver the lethal blow?

Well first and foremost, ratings and headlines. Lucie Jones is quite obviously a better singer, in this so called singing competition, but Cowell took the easy way out for the second week in a row.

I think that long-term Cowell may look back on that decision as hid Gerald Ratner moment, selling out talent for ratings and headlines. The public will not be happy and Cowell may find his credibility rating on a par with that of politicians.  From a punting point of view, it shows that this show is wide open.

I personally have a vested interest. On Suntalk I laid Martel Maxwell, who sat in for Jon Gaunt a bet of £50 at 100/1 about the twins. My liability stands at £5000, so I may be talking out of my pocket, but the twins were heavily assisted in the sing-off by a heavy backing vocal which drowned them out, hiding just how bad they were.

Jon Gaunt- Suntalk

Jon Gaunt- Suntalk

The potential of the twins winning and their shortening in price has seen me get plenty of stick from Jon Gaunt. Last week, on his Suntalk show, daily 10am-1pm Gaunty was critical of Cowell, in particular his failure to cast the deciding vote and give the ‘public the final say’. His argument being one that we have said in the past here on Racing Diary, if it is a public vote then let it be a true public vote, bot half a democracy.

So what will Jon be telling his listeners this week?

Last week I called Simon Cowell a wimp when he refused to make his mind up but this week he was completely RIGHT. The public want Jedward or should that Be Deadwood?

He proved himself to be a real showman with tonight’s decision. The facts are there is no stand out singer this year, no Alexander Burke let alone a Leona and the public know it and I think even now Simon Cowell can see it.

Also the sing off is only a gimmick to extend the show. The public should be told each week who got the most votes it should only be a public decision and if you work on that premise last weeks decision by Simon was wrong as was this weeks.

IF It is a singing competition the winner should always be decided ONLY by the public not the whim of the bloke who owns the show, the singers contract and even the future of ITV.

However it is really funny that Carl Harris of the Racing Diary could lose a massive bet to Martel Maxwell.

One thing we can agree on is that in this year’s X-Factor we should expect the unexpected. Bookies report turnover to be up by 300 per cent this year as the public gets on the twins bandwagon. I had £100 on Olly at 6/1 at the start of this competition and would be sitting pretty now, except for this huge liability of Jedward. I honestly thought I was there tonight and that Simon Cowell would come to my rescue. God knows how this will pan out now, but one thing that punters can be sure of, its that X-Factor will stay in the headlines. More money will be punted on the X-Factor as a result.

It seems that the bookies, in fact everyone from Simon Cowell to Jon Gaunt and Martel Maxwell are loving Jedward. I certainly am not a fan! No way can they win and I still believe that, honest!

I will leave the last word on the matter to Gaunty, whose advice I will take on board after this competition;

Stick to the horses bog boy!!!

I will, don’t worry about that! And the best bet of them all is that I can expect to get plenty more stick on Suntalk this week!

Bookies wasted no time in getting their prices out for the next round. Here’s how they bet and what William Hill have to say as a reaction to the dramatic events;
Bookies William Hill cleaned up after Jedward survived the bottom two! One Hills customer was so sure they would get the boot that he risked £10,000 at 1/16 that they would be ousted. Olly is the 7/4 favourite with Jedward now 2/1 to get the boot next weekend but 10/1.

“There is the potential for the worst result in reality TV betting history, should Jedward win but so far they have made us a small fortune!” said Hill’s spokesman Rupert Adams.

William Hill X Factor Winner Odds: 7/4 Olly Murs, 3/1 Danyl Jones, 7/2 Joseph McElderry, 5/1 Stacey Solomon, 10/1 John & Edward, 16/1 Jamie Archer, 33/1 Lloyd Daniels.

2/1 Jedward to survive next week

X-Factor Latest

Bookies William Hill have slashed the price of Jedward winning the X Factor from 150/1 to 10/1 after the public once again voted in their droves to save them. Hills are now convinced that Simon Cowell is a closet Jedward fan after the twins were in the last two to sing on Saturday night and offer 4/1 that they are given the final slot this coming Saturday. The twins are 5/2 to be the fifth act voted on Sunday and Olly Murs is the favourite to win at 5/2.

“One of the few proven reality TV stats is that acts who perform later in any programme have a better chance of getting votes. For example, the top three in Britain’s Got Talent were the last three to perform on the final show. We understand that Simon sanctioned a move for the twins last weekend and we are just 4/1 that Simon lets them sing last again on Saturday,” said Hill’s spokesman Rupert Adams.

4/1 Twins To Sing Last!
William Hill Next Eviction: 7/4 Lloyd Daniels, 5/2 John & Edward, 9/2 Jamie Archer, 5/1 Danyl Johnson, 12/1 Lucie Jones, 20/1 Stacey Solomon, 33/1 Olly Murs, 33/1 Joseph McElderry

William Hill Odds X Factor Winner: 5/2 Oli Murs, 7/2 Joseph McElderry, 5/1 Stacey Soloman, 11/2 Danyl Johnson, 11/2 Lucie Jones, 10/1 Jamie Archer, 10/1 John & Edward, 33/1 Lloyd Daniels,

JEDWARD SPELLS DOUBLE TROUBLE FOR BOOKIES
Bookies Paddy Power have further cut the odds on X Factor hopefuls John and Edward to 10/1 after the brothers sailed through to the next round with their performance of Freddie Mercury’s ‘We Will Rock You’.
Paddy Power are now estimating a whopping payout of more than €400,000 should the Lucan twins go the distance and win this years X Factor. It would easily top the record as the biggest payout in X Factor history!
Sharon McHugh, spokesperson for Paddy Power, said: “John and Edward must have been cats in a previous life because it looks like nothing can kill them off. If they have got nine lives it could be just enough to see them get to the final!”
Yet again the twins are tipped to escape the bottom two this week with Paddy Power quoting 4/6 that they’ll stay in the competition. The brothers are now more popular than one of the series early favourites with Paddy Power putting them ahead of Jamie (Afro) Archer in the betting to win.

X FACTOR AND SCD LATEST ODDS FROM PADDY POWER

John and Edward Grimes, aka JEDWARD are once again the main talking point this week. The twins’ odds have been slashed to 12/1 from a whopping starting price of 100/1.

One time favourites Danyl and Lucie have slipped right down the betting to 9/2 and 6/1 and it’s baby-faced Joe McElderry who now leads the pack at 3/1.

As for Strictly, the outfits might have the wow factor but this year’s contestants have so far failed to raise our temperatures. Ricky Whittle remains the 4/6 favourite to dance his way to victory.

Paddy Power takes a look at this week’s reality TV betting for X Factor and Strictly Come Dancing along with some hot tips to bag a winner!

THIS WEEKENDS BETTING UPDATE

X-Factor
Love them or loathe them, credit has to be given to the Grime twins. Not only have their odds been dramatically slashed to win but they’ve managed to avoid being in the bottom two week after week. Judging by the odds the terrible twosome still have another week or so left in the tank and we can’t wait to see what they pull out of the bag next! Danyl Johnson on the other hand appears to have fallen out of favour with the public and could be in trouble this week.

Tip of the week: Danyl Johnson to get the boot on Sunday at 12/1.

Strictly Come Dancing
Can anyone beat the gorgeous Ricky Whittle? Absolutely they can! Ali Bastian is the 3/1 second favourite nipping at Ricky’s heels and bookies Paddy Power think it’s way too early to write off a shock win!

Tip of the week: Ali Bastian to win Strictly Come Dancing at 3/1
