X-Factor and Strictly Come Dancing Betting Update

As of midday Friday bookmakers William Hill have taken almost £204,000 on who will win the X Factor 2010, more than they did on the whole of the first series of the X Factor. Hills have taken over 23,000 bets with an average stake of of just over £8.50. Hills are predicting an industry turnover of over £10 million across X Factor markets, making the X factor comparable to the FA Cup final.

William Hill are offering 5/4 that over 20 million people watch the show on Saturday night. Matt Cardle is the current favourite with Hills to win at 11/4 and Katie Waissel is favourite to be the first contestant voted off the show at 11/4.

“The X Factor is the FA Cup final of reality TV betting and we are predicting an industry turnover of millions of pounds will be changing hands in the next few weeks. ” said Hill’s spokesman Rupert Adams.

Bookmakers William Hill are expecting an industry wide turnover of up to million pounds before tonights Big Brother as the nation bids farewell to the show. Brian is the overwhelming favourite to win the show, being priced at 1/5. Chantelle is the main contender at 6/1, with Nikki the 8/1 third favourite.

Wow what a weekend! It is fair to say it was a very busy betting weekend. Firstly the Boylesports Gold Cup went to Poquelin as advised and the 5/1 on offer soon became 7/2, but Paul Nicholls’ horse won very well. Gamble landed as they say!

They entertained the Strictly Come Dancing crowds with her gawky dancing and his outbursts at the judges, but Jo Wood and Brendan Cole have finally been given their marching orders. The former model and fiery New Zealander lost out this week in a dance off with Olympian Jade Johnson and her partner Ian Waite.

Despite ten contestants remaining, William Hill think that only two of them are in with a chance of winning. Hills rate Ricky Whittle as their 5/6 odds on favourite, with Ali Bastian a 3/1 shot.

“If Phil’s knee clears up and he decided to make a real effort he could perhaps spark an upset, but to be honest we cannot see anyone other Ricky or Ali winning the show,” said Hill’s spokesman Rupert Adams.

Jo Wood cost Hills a cool five figure sum after being backed in from 2/1 to 1/5 during the show after another terrible performance and Hills expect Craig Kelly to be the hot favourite for the boot next week.

X-Factor Betting Update

DANYL Johnson has been backed into 11/4, from 3/1, sole favouritism to win X Factor, according to Ladbrokes. And the bookies reckon the 27-year-old has benefited from the sympathy vote following Dannii Minogue’s comments.

Ladbrokes spokesman, Nick Weinberg, said: “Punters initially found it hard to connect with Danyl which is why he went on the drift. But he appears to have won the public over.”

John and Edward are 7/4 favourites for the chop this week.

Weinberg added: “Somehow they made it through. Surely they can’t repeat the trick?”

Bookmakers William Hill have been forced to cut the price of Anton Du Beke getting the sack from Strictly Come Dancing for the fourth time today and he is now 4/1 to be gone by midnight on Friday from an original 33/1. Anton Du Beke‘s real name is Tony Beak joked his newly spray tanned partner looked like a ‘Paki’ and now pressure is mounting on the BBC to apply the same punishment as it did on Carol Thatcher for a similar incident.

Strictly Come Dancing contestant Richard Dunwoody has backed himself with a bet to win this year’s ballroom show.

The former champion jockey has linked up with his friend bookmaker Paddy Power to place a £1000 charity bet that he goes all the way – and at odds of 33/1 to win this year’s show a Dunwoody victory would return £33,000 for his Trust which benefits the likes of Racing Welfare, Sparks, Spinal Research and Alzheimers.

Paddy said: “Richard would be too modest to ask for your votes but I’m not. Just like in his racing days Richard could well be this year’s People’s Champion on the show, maybe we’ll have another John Sergeant to enjoy!”

PUNTERS BACK ARLENE FOR SRICTLY RETURN

Paddy Power have slashed the odds on Arlene Phillips returning to the Strictly Come Dancing judging panel to 3/1after her replacement Alesha Dixon made a shaky debut on the show.

It was a case of out with the new and in with the old as furious fans swamped BBC message boards criticising the former Mis-Teeq star, and calling for choreographer Phillips to be reinstated.
