Ronnie O’Sullivan’s 4-2 defeat by Ryan Day in the Welsh Open at Newport means he will not be among the top eight seeds in the World Championship at the Crucible in April.

Following first-round exits in the UK Championship and the Masters at the hands of Stuart Bingham and Mark Allen respectively and a no-show for the German Masters, O’Sullivan showed flashes of his best quality, notably a break of 100 in the third frame, but looked unmistakably ring rusty, particularly when his game fell apart in the last frame.

Speaking after losing to Day, O’Sullivan admitted he is troubled by his form and ranking. He was No9 in the world before heading to Wales.

“I’ve not played in as many tournaments as the other players – I missed the German Masters because of illness,” O’Sullivan said. “My ranking position concerns me and it could get worse. I could drop out of the top 64.

“Every credit to Ryan. He played well and deserved it. My preparation is not as good as it used to be. I only practised an hour last Friday and an hour today.”

Day, inspired by a capacity crowd, largely of fellow Welshmen, began with consecutive centuries, 109 and 113, and also kept the three-times world champion scoreless in the fourth frame.

He grew anxious as the winning line approached but O’Sullivan was by then making many errors and ultimately made one too many.

Peter Ebdon Now a Very Good Price!

Ebdon has jittery start at World Snooker

Ebdon has Jittery start at World Snooker

Peter Ebdon had a bad session to trail Bond 3-5 in his first round World Snooker Championship match.

Ebdon should come back in this first to 10 frame contest and is now trading 1.92 to win, from a starting 1.37 (Betfair). Ebdon should overcome the stuttering start to prevail.

I certainly hope so as he is the centre-piece of two trebles that were advised by Racing Diary. Ebdon is the much better player on both form and rankings and would be devastated to go out in round one.

Ebdon is on the practice table and should have is eye in when the match resumes at 7pm. Back Peter Ebdon Now in Running to win the match with Betfair. You need a Betfair Account and will get a Free £25 Bet,

Peter Ebdon is a Must Win for us!

Peter Ebdon is a Must Win for us!

We are on course for a nice payout from yesterday’s bet as long as Peter Ebdon does the business. He is a banker in my book and we will include him in today’s treble.

Peter Ebdon should Cruise into the next round against Bond. He is 1.37 and a win should be assured. We will also back the former Champion Sean Murphy and Robertson to beat Davis.

Todays treble at the Betfred World Snooker Championships is a Betfair Multiple- BACK TO WIN

Peter Ebdon – 1.37
Murphy- 1.31
Robertson – 1.24

The Treble pays 2.08 (odds against).

Our first day 4/5 Double was completed as both players are now in round two of the Betfred World Snooker Championships. Yesterday the two players who statred their games, Fu and Junhui both took control of their matches. Peter Ebdon is the third leg and the first leg of todays bet. He is therefore a banker.

Ebdon has a good record at the Crucible and is a must win for us. His price reflects the fact that he should win and win well. We should be fine for another payout with todays three.

Allen and Selby look in command of their first round matches at The Betfred World Snooker Championships and our 4-5 double looks nicely on its way to our pockets. The players are now 1.01 and 1.05 on Betfair so a Profit can be guaranteed with a bit of simple trading.

The first round is a great time to hoover up the easy money!

Now we look for another pot with today’s matches. Here is today’s order of play;

First Round Matches 20th April
Mark Allen v Martin Gould (10am)- all but over
Marco Fu v Joe Swail (10am)- Fu should overcome Swail
Mark Selby v Ricky Walden (2.30pm)- all but over
Ding Junhui v Liang Wenbo (2.30pm)- Junhui should win
Joe Perry v Jamie Cope (7.00pm) – evenly matched with Perry a marginal favourite
Marco Fu v Joe Swail (7.00pm)

I can not see any shocks again in these first round matches, The Perry game aside. So the three today are;

Ebdon- 1.47
Junhui- 1.43
Fu- 1.47

A Betfair Multiple will pay a rather handsome 2.86- so to a £1 stake you make a £1.86 profit. I have had this bet for £80 (my winnings from yesterday). These three should cruise into round two and make us a few quid.

Lay a 147 at Snooker World Championships

Will There be a 147 at this years Snooker World Championships?

Will There be a 147 at this years Snooker World Championships?

There are many markets you can get involved in for the Snooker World Championships that start in Sheffield next week. The most interesting market for me is the Maximum break market. You would have to back at odds on for a 147 to be made this year.

Last year there were two maximum breaks, so surely there will be at least one this year, won’t there?

Well looking at the stats they are certainly against a 147. The Crucible Theater has seen only seven 147 breaks in the last seventeen years of the World Snooker Championships. That is an average on one every two and a half years, although it is true to say players are better now than seventenn, ten or even five years ago.

But You can not ignore those statistics. To Lay against a 147 at this years Snooker World Championship is about even money. It is all about value and certainly that looks like one where the statistics are on your side.

Of course this price will rise as the championships progress and if you don’t feel you want to hold your nerve you can trade out of your bet for a sure profit.
