Four cracking races from Newbury form the backbone of this weekend’s totescoop6 as several of the big stables begin to put the finishing touches to their Cheltenham Festival preparations.

Two races from Warwick complete the sextet as punters look to land a potential pot of over £300,000 after the bet rolled over from last weekend. There is currently £76,988 in the win fund and £114,403 in the bonus pot.

The highlight of tomorrow’s bet sees a field of 23 line-up for the totesport Trophy where Nicky Henderson and Alan King hold strong claims with the likes of Solix, Walkon, Salden Licht and Soldatino. Scoop6 Not Won on Saturday

Eric’s Charm rolled back the years to take the totesport Masters Handicap Chase at Sandown this afternoon but in doing so he shattered the dreams of the twenty-one totescoop6 punters who had made it through to the final leg.

A total of £219,966 was bet into the pool this afternoon which means there is now a rollover in the win fund of £76,988 whilst the bonus pot has swelled to £114,403.

‘The majority of Scoop6 punters had written Eric’s Charm off but the thirteen-year-old veteran proved them all wrong with a gutsy display at Sandown to leave just under £200,000 in the win and bonus funds,’ said totepool spokesman George Primarolo.

There was a happier post-script though for the 33 punters who landed the place fund as they are £1,333.10 better off for picking six placed horses.

Adverse weather forecast sees totescoop6 head to all-weather meetings

With doubts over both Ascot and Haydock tomorrow afternoon, this weekend’s totescoop6 will take place exclusively on the all-weather though Lingfield are holding a precautionary inspection at 6.30am tomorrow morning.

This afternoon’s meeting at Ascot had to be abandoned due to a frozen track and with conditions expected to worsen overnight, there seems to be little hope that Saturday’s meeting can be saved with an inspection due at 4.30pm. Haydock are also inspecting at 8am tomorrow morning but with an unfavourable overnight forecast, the meeting looks in doubt.

Channel 4 will show four live races from Southwell and three from Lingfield should both jumps meetings be abandoned and if this is the case, then all six Scoop6 legs will be televised. Three punters will be looking to land a further £94,177 to the £50,989 they won last weekend as they aim to pick the winner of the bonus race which is the £10,000 added totepool A Better Way to Bet Handicap at Southwell.

“With serious doubts over both Ascot and Haydock, there was a strong possibility that we’d end up with no Scoop6 races this weekend so in order to maximise turnover for the benefit of the industry, we’ve decided to head to Lingfield and Southwell,” said totepool spokesman George Primarolo.

Doncaster and Wincanton form this weekend’s totescoop6

Balthazaar’s Gift leaves Scoop6 punters at a loss

One ticket holder remained heading into the final leg of this afternoon’s totescoop6 but Balthazaar’s Gift’s victory in the Eddie Stobart Stakes at Doncaster means the bet rolls over again to next weekend.

Following Harris Tweed’s victory at Chester in the fifth leg, the hopes of the sole remaining ticket were carried by High Standing but after being held up towards the rear of the field he was unable to find a change of gear to challenge the leaders.

‘Although High Standing unfortunately couldn’t do the business today it does mean there will certainly be over £1 million in total up for grabs next weekend’ said totepool spokesman Andrew Griffiths.

A total of £365,970 was bet into the pools this afternoon and there were 20 winners of the place dividend, each collecting a bumper £3,659.70 for their troubles.

Damika dashes hopes of Scoop6 bonus hunters

There was bad luck for six punters chasing the bumper £551,445 totescoop6 bonus fund as they were foiled by the Richard Whitaker trained Damika as he wore down Tajneed in the final furlong.

This afternoon’s totescoop6 went down to the final leg as seven tickets remained, but Richard Hughes threw a spanner in the works as he guided home the unselected Fleeting Echo for his second winner of the afternoon. This means £91,416 rolls over in the win fund for next weekend’s racing.

‘There was disappointment for the six punters hoping to pick up a share of the giant Scoop6 bonus fund, but it does mean the next lucky winner of the Scoop6 will have the opportunity to land a huge bonus dividend’ said totesport spokesman Andrew Griffiths.
