Fridays Horseracing Tips, 23 April

It’s St George’s Day, which will probably pass by without a mention, unlike St Patrick’s Day which is celebrated with fanfares and lots of Guinness.  I personally think being English should be celebrated.

The best celebration is to have a couple of winners which hopefully we will today, following Quevega who won at 5/2 from the early advised 4/1. What a great horse, she delivers time after time.

Here are Todays Free Horseracing Tips, From Punchestown…

4:55 Punchestown Copper Bleu- Win. A good winner of the jewson Handicap at Cheltenham Copper Bleu is up seven pounds for that win which I think is not insurmountable. This is a tough race but no more so that the Cheltenham contest where Richard Johnson gave him a fantastic ride. I will be on Copper Bleu today.

Cheltenham Festival third Dunguib

5:30 Punchestown, Dunguib- Win. I don’t think Dunguib ran badly at Cheltenham. I am not sure he got the run of the race and I am not going to debate the ride, but clearly connections have no problem with the jockey. I actually think Dunguib could be very good at the highest level and I am prepared to give him a chance here in the Irish Champion Hurdle. Solwhit could bounce back and run a better race than last time, but for me its Dunguib.

Rabobank Champion Hurdle – 5.30pm Punchestown: 10-3 Dunguib, 7-2 Hurricane Fly, 4-1 Solwhit, 13-2 Punjabi, 7-1 Voler La Vedette, 12-1 Medermit, 14-1 Ronaldo Des Mottes, 25-1 Thousand Stars, 28-1 Muirhead, 33-1 Won In The Dark, 100-1 De Valira (EW 1/4 1,2,3)

In The UK….

3:55 Sandown, Verdant- Win. Three year old handicaps are notoriously difficult to fathom but sometimes one gets in with a low mark and I think verdant, off a mark of 80 could be one such horse. This is a tough race but Verdant is worth taking a chance on.

Good Luck

Dettori can Pounce on Thursday

It is difficult to look beyond Hacienda (4:05 Beverley) for top honours at Beverley on Thursday. The Mark Johnston-trained colt turned in one of the most visually impressive displays of Wolverhampton’s winter season, and should be followed with interest in the Racing UK Stakes.

Unraced as a two-year-old, Johnston’s son of Kheleyf clinically dismantled a decent field by seven lengths in February to suggest a mile will comfortably be on his radar in the fulness of time.

Although the form has so far not worked out from that Wolverhampton cakewalk, history should tell us that his closest rivals that day were certainly no slouches.

The inevitable penalty will not make life easy, but he looks a class above. The fact Frankie Dettori rides – his only mount on the Westwood – further underscores Hacienda’s rock-solid claims.

Richard Guest has enjoyed a fair start to the season and can strike again with Micky’s Knock Off, who looks a warm order for the Beverley Minster Claiming Stakes. The three-year-old Camacho gelding is something of a rogue, but shaped with a modicum of promise when second at Kempton last time. That form alone puts him in the shake-up for this five-furlong sprint.

Flouncing can make amends for a surprise Folkestone reverse in the ladbrokes.com Median Auction Maiden Stakes at Southwell. William Haggas’ filly was turned over at skimpy odds on her last start, but was too keen for her own good that day and failed to settle. She is blessed with plenty of ability, however, and is getting a nice slab of weight from the colts in this seven-furlong examination. The Barathea filly should be given one more chance.

Flores Sea, three times a course winner, rarely runs a bad race in Nottinghamshire and gets the nod for the Play Poker At ladbrokes.com Handicap. There was plenty to admire about his third at Redcar, where he was doing his best work at the finish.

Backstage can sign off the season in style at Perth. Gordon Elliott’s hardy stayer was travelling with much promise in the Grand National before unseating his rider late on. The eight-year-old must have returned unscathed from his Liverpool exertions and really ought to be winning the getyourbetson@stanjames.com Festival Chase in the manner of a very stylish horse.

Count Boris can end a maddening sequence of results in the Fuller’s London Pride Handicap Hurdle at Fontwell. Jim Best’s nine-year-old has finished either second or third on five starts since his return from injury and is surely long overdue a victory. Although an extra 5lb on his back will obviously not help his cause, this three-mile-three-furlong trip could put him back on the straight and narrow.

Bid Art was also last year struck by a mild case of seconditis but can set the record straight on his return to the track in the 3663 First For Food Service Handicap Chase. The improving five-year-old will be unfortunate to bump into an animal of the calibre of Star Galaxy, who has won four races since defeating Jamie Snowden’s gelding at Hereford last November.

Gilsland can redress the balance following a recent setback by landing the Cheese Warehouse Supports Children’s Adventure Farm Trust Novices’ Chase at Uttoxeter.

Through The Cards….

BEVERLEY: 2.00 Micky’s Knock Off, 2.30 Deauville Flyer, 3.00 Bin Shamardal, 3.30 Christmas Coming, 4.05 HACIENDA (NAP), 4.40 Tia Juana, 5.15 Chichen Daawe.

FONTWELL: 2.20 Shoegazer, 2.50 City Heights, 3.20 Astrolibra, 3.55 Shaka’s Pearl, 4.30 Count Boris, 5.05 Bid Art, 5.40 Madame Jasmine

PERTH: 2.10 Ten Pole Tudor, 2.40 Run To Space, 3.10 Dix Villez, 3.45 Backstage, 4.20 De Boitron, 4.55 Lead On.

PUNCHESTOWN: 3.40 Ainama, 4.15 Lilywhitedancer, 4.50 LAmi, 5.30 Karabak, 6.05 Clear Riposte, 6.40 Captain Cee Bee, 7.15 Bishopsfurze.

SOUTHWELL: 5.25 Flouncing, 5.55 Captain Bluebird, 6.25 Flores Sea, 6.55 Group Leader, 7.25 Just Five, 7.55 Securitisation.

UTTOXETER: 5.35 Regain Du Charbonneau, 6.05 Master Fong, 6.35 Gilsland, 7.05 Rosie All Over, 7.35 Kikos, 8.05 Cruising Bye.

Wednesdays Horseracing Tips, 21 April

We have some good racing on the level as well as day two of the Punchestown Festival where Denman runs. Here are your free horseracing tips from Racing Diary.

Free Horseracing Tips

Sea The Stars last year's Derby winner

3:30 Epsom Prompter- win. Lets start at home with the Derby trial at Epsom where Prompter is the main attraction and will look to emulate Sea The Stars brilliant win in the Derby 2009.  It is interesting that Hayley Turner gets the ride for Michael Bell at this level. He went close on his debut last year so may not be the hardest horse to get fit and this son of Motivator (who won The Derby for the stable) should relish the longer trip today. As we know his sire won at the track (2005 Derby winner) and a bold bid is expected. I would be shocked if he didn’t win.

5:30 Punchestown Denman – win. I do love Denman. He may be a gelding but he has more balls than most colts. He comes back time after time and proves the doubters wrong. The run in The Gold Cup was excellent and I am absolutely delighted that Tony McCoy retains the ride. You can stick your criticism of McCoy where the sun doesn’t shine. The best jockey ever and any fool who doubts that just needs to look at the record book and spend five minutes in his company.I don’t buy this being polite, there are too many idiots talking rubbish where McCoy is concerned. Denman should be too good for these, as long as he is fresh.

Good Luck on Wednesday.

Denman runs at Punchestown

The Paul Nicholls-trained winner of the 2008 Cheltenham Gold Cup returned to something like his best form when runner-up for the second year running in the blue riband last month. The 10-year-old spearheads a three-pronged British assault on the big prize, backed up by The Queen’s Barbers Shop, trained by Nicky Henderson, and Philip Hobbs’ Planet Of Sound.

Another former Gold Cup winner in the line-up is 2006 victor War Of Attrition, trained by Mouse Morris. Notre Pere, who took this race 12 months ago, goes again for Jim Dreaper, while Willie Mullins is double-handed with Cooldine and J’y Vole. Paul Nolan saddles Joncol, with Follow The Plan, Tranquil Sea and the Dessie Hughes-trained pair of Rare Bob and Siegemaster also engaged.

One of Ireland’s most popular chasers of recent times has his last race ever on Wednesday as War Of Attrition ends a productive career. Now 11, Mouse Morris’ stable star was narrowly beaten by Brave Inca in the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle of 2004 but his future was always going to lie over fences. He won the Swordlestown Cup in 2005, the Cheltenham Gold Cup in 2006 and the Guinness Gold Cup a month later.

Injury kept him off the track for nearly two years but he returned with a win over another Gold Cup winner, Kicking King. He still managed to win two Grade Two hurdles this winter before running well for a long way in the World Hurdle at Cheltenham. “He likes Punchestown and the ground is in his favour,” said Morris.

The New Daily Betting Briefing

2.35 VISIT Punchestown.com JUVENILE HURDLE (Grade 3) 2m

Advice: 1pt back PITTONI in running. Ask for odds of 4.0 2pts back Doctor Deejay @ around 2.6 Betfair 2pts lay Doctor Deejay @ 2.1 in running.

PITTONI has the rare accolade of touching 1000 in running on Betfair and managing to land the spoils. He did that on his one and only start over hurdles after being given quite a negative looking ride for his hurdling debut. He wasn’t fluent that day but really got the hang of things late on to make up over ten lengths just before the principals jumped the last flight. He doesn’t look the type that will instantly trade shorter in play because he lacks the gears of the favourite Doctor Deejay. For what he lacks in gears Pittoni makes up for in stamina and unless the race turns out to be a farcial crawll he has the improvement and scope to outstay the market leader. This is where we can ask for a bigger price in play about Pittoni as I dont expect his hurdling and the way he travels to be as pleasing on the eye as Doctor Deejay.

We can save our stake on Pittoni by trading the market leader a back at 2.6 of 2pts and a lay back at 2.1 in running will basically leave us level pegging should Doctor Deejay win the race and a free 3/1 bet on Pittoni providing both trades are matched successfully. I’m not keen on the other market rival Big Game Hunter as he looked most clumsy on his hurdling debt despite being built for the game, where he only got as far as the second. His lack of experience should tell today against the more slicker Doctor Deejay and the improving Pittoni.

Good Luck.

Saturday’s Punchestown Racing Tips

Another Great Day at Punchestown on Saturday

Another Great Day at Punchestown on Saturday

Saturday promises to be yet another fantastic day at Punchestown, as the Punchestown Festival enters it’s fifth day.

For today’s tips I have decided to simply advise the following…

Back Ruby Walsh and Willie Mullins at Punchestown!

It has certainly been the strategy to follow so far as they have notched up an astonishing 10 winners, so far!

Lets see if we can find you a few more winners on Saturday, Punchestown racecard. You can certainly ensure you are a winner and are in profit simply by opening an account with BoyleSports- get £200 of Free Bets.

Saturday at Punchestown

Punchestown- 1.10

Dear Villez was a winner at Cheltenham in Novemeber and a repeat of that standard will be enough to see him go close here. Davy Russell had a big winner yesterday and can continue his good run.

Punchestown- 1.45

Serpentaria is the first Mullins and Walsh hotpot of the day. Winner of its last 3 races Sperpentaria can continue the run today.

Punchestown- 2.20

Hunters chase- whatch the market.

Punchestown- 2.55

Mourad is the next Walsh / Mullins good thing of the day. Third in The Triumph Hurdle Mourad should frank the form of that race and notch up yet another Punchestown win for the deadly duo.

Punchestown- 3.30

Wide open and the possibility of an English winner with Alan King and Robert Thornton teaming up with Nenuphar Collonge. Third at Cheltenham, this horse may have the class to take this race today.

Punchestown 4.05

This is as open as any race this week and when in doubt follow the Punchestown formula, Mullins and Walsh- Sesenta fits the bill here.

I have no idea about the last two races at Punchestown!

Today’s Horseracing Betting Tips..

Quevega Can win at Punchestown

Quevega Can win at Punchestown

Top Class Stuff at Punchestown, Shame about the Rest!

I am enjoying the Punchestown Festival, despite mixed fortunes for our tips so far. Super Frank was a good winner yesterday and on the day before the 2000 Guineas, the cards are no up to much today.

That is with the exception of Punchestown where Mullins and Walsh are dominating proceedings.

Today I start writing for Betfair and I hope that I get off the mark with a nice winner. I have gone for Quevega as my bet of the Day in the 6.05 at Punchestown.

I was there to see Quevega destroy a quality field in the Mare’s Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival, a performance that was as good as Master Minded’s in winning the 2007 Champion Chase, in my eyes. Willie Mullin’s has pitched the mare in against top class opposition, not least Champion Hurdler Punjabi who seeks to win the race he won last year.

Punjabi is not for me today, he wants faster ground. There is a top class field but Mullins and Walsh are in top form and Quevega is very special, which she will prove today.

The pair should also win the 6.35 with Mikael Dhaguenet who is very short, but looks a good thing and one for doubling up your bets today.

The only horse of interest in the UK today is La Capriosa (3.05) at Southwell. She was second at Redcar in a better Claimer and back on sand has the beating of the field. She was in front of Maddison Belle when they last met and should be again.

We laid one of Alan Mccabe’s yesterday, it got well beaten, but he should have a winner for us today!

Its the 2000 Guineas on Saturday, I can’t wait!

Friday’s Punchestown Festival Tips..

Day Four at Punchestown

Day Four at Punchestown

More Punchestown Festival Tips for Friday…

It is day four of the excellent Punchestown Festival or the Mullins / Walsh show as it has become.

The pair team up again with today with two outstanding hurdlers in the shape of Quevega (5.30) and Mikael Dhaguenet (6.05) in the Punchestown feature races.

The latter looks nailed on but Quevega has to overcome top quality opposition to win.

We found you a couple of big winners yesterday and hope to do so again on this, the fourth day of The Punchestown.

Punchestown – 2.45
A Hunters Chase, that I can not possibly begin to know anything about. My tip here is to follow the market, which is always the best guide to these races. especially at the Punchestown Festival.

Punchestown- 4.20
Walsh and Mullins are likely to attract all the money with Ballytrim, but look out for any market move for the Tony Martin runner Hold the Pin. I would advise a small bet on Ballytrim, unless Hold the Pin is strongly supported.

Punchestown – 4.55
Again Walsh and Mullins are prominent but I would oppose Equus Maximus with
Tranquil Sea who I think has the better chance. A very hard race, but Tranquil Sea for me.

Punchestown- 5.30
Now we get serious! The Grade One Champion Hurdle where Punjabi seeks to complete a historic double. Despite the quality of opposition I am firmly behind Quevega who won the Mare’s Hurdle at Cheltenham in breath taking style. Predictably Walsh rides for, you guessed it, Willie Mullins on this Mare.

Punchestown- 6.05
Mikael Dhaguenet is the best novice I have seen and should win this, for yes, Mullins and Walsh, albeit at a skinny price. You can not oppose the Ballymoore Properties winner.

Punchestown- 6.40
Copper Bleu could provide a rare English winner for Philip Hobbs, but faces a tough test. A competitive race but Copper Bleu has the best form in the book.

Punchestown- 7.05 and 7.45
I can not offer much in the way of insight, other than that which brought us a winner yesterday, Willie Mullins in bumpers!

I hope that you have another good day. It certainly will be a good day if you open a BoyleSports account and get £200 of Free Bets…BoyleSports will also pay better terms than most bookmakers on Each-Way bets in Big Handicaps.

Punjabi Comes to Punchestown on Friday

Champion Hurdler runs at Punchestown

Champion Hurdler runs at Punchestown

Punjabi Looking to Show Champion Class…

Punjabi bids to follow great names such as Istabraq and Hardy Eustace by completing the Cheltenham/Punchestown Champion Hurdle double at Punchestown of Friday.

The double was done in 1999 and 2004 – can Punjabi do it? Nicky Henderson’s won the Champion Hurdle Winner last month in front of Celestial Halo and Binocular at odds of 22-1. He will not be that at Punchestown on Friday!

Punjabi takes on eight rivals in the Rabobank Champion Hurdle at Punchestown as he tries to repeat last year’s success in this race. Punjabi is a class horse and a winner at Punchestown.

The ground was good when he defeated Sublimity last year but will be ofter this time, Henderson though is still optimistic about his chances

Henderson said “It has been quite wet in Punchestown at times this week, but at least it hasn’t always fallen on the racecourse which is a good thing. It’s been lovely ground.”

Quevega looks like being the favourite on Betfair for Willie Mullins who is looking forward to seeing how Quevega fares over the shorter distance but Jockey Ruby Walsh admits Punjabi will be hard to beat. Quevega was also a winner at Cheltenham, doing it in style by 14 lengths in The Mares Hurdle and promises to give Punjabi a tough battle. There is nothing to choose between them in the market, but I think Quevega is a proper horse and will win at Punchestown!

A great race is in store. Get a £200 Free Bet from BoyleSports For Punchestown

Will Punjabi or Quevega be as good as Istabraq at the Punchestown Festival?

No!
