Free Horseracing Tips

Well I am back home and have managed to recover from a hectic week at Cheltenham. I was covering the event for Suntalk Radion, with Jon Gaunt. We had some cracking guests on the show and I really did get to meet some big names in racing as well as some very interesting people.

The guests we had on the show is a long list. I am so pleased I did it and hope to do it again soon! I like radio and I am told I have a face for it!

So its back to normality and it certainly is down to earth with a huge bump today withlow key meetings at Kelso, Plumpton and Wolverhampton. Here are todays free horseracing tips;

2:10 Kelso, Dr Livingstone, Win. Last time out he was thrown in at the deep end and sank, so back in the shallow end here Dr Livingstone can make the trip to the borders track worth it by winning. This represents a drop in class for Charlie Egerton’s five year-old and I fully expect him to win and get us off to a good start.

4:30 Plumpton, Willandrich, Win. So good they named him twice? Willandrich looks for a hat-trick here after an easy win last week at Warwick. Despite the seven pounds penalty I think he can win again with conditions once again in his favour. The young jockey has been on board for his last three runs of which two have been winners. Ian Williams is having anaother good season and Willandrich can add another to his tally.

I am still buzzing from a great weekend. I was so delighted to get Get Me Out of Here right and I think he is still on an upward curve and I have backed him for the Neptune Novice Hurdle at 14/1, I am assuming he will not take on Dunguib in the Supreme Novices Hurdle. Denman falling is still a huge shock!

Well what can I say about Mondays horseracing. Nothing polite to be honest, particularly at Catterick which is dreadful. Wolverhampton is poor leaving only Plumpton which not tht much to get excited about at least has a couple of interesting races.

Mondays Free Horseracing Tips are;

2:00 Plumpton, Orzare- Win. The son of Montjeu was decent on the Flat and has shown a good level of ability over hurdles with two from two in the UK. Two wins at Newbury and Fontwell have given him some good experience and although there are many debutants on show it is hard to see any reaching the standard of Orzare. Evening Sunset is the obvious danger but last time out she pulled really hard for Tony McCoy and finished last, making it hard to fancy her here, particularly up against such a decent type. Orzare looks rock solid, despite giving weight to all. Lets hope for a decent price, sadly this may be a forlorn hope.

Denman - shock fall on Saturday

3:00 Plumpton, Mobaasher- Win. A very interesting reunion between Mobaasher and Giles Cross, now on level weights. Last time out Giles Cross got the better of Venitia Williams’ charge, by a length but on these better terms Mobaasher has to be fancied to turn that around. On better ground Mobaasher is the one to back here to score over fences again following his first time win at Southwell.

I was definitely right not to bother with racing on Sunday. We have three meetings on Monday, two jumps meetings, fantastic! It’s back to work after the freeze. I am ready to rock and roll as we build up to Cheltenham. Cousin Vinny was beaten over fences on Sunday, he doesn’t look like figuring come March! Our Facebook page for the 2010 Gold Cup has over 1200 fans. You can join here by clicking this link.

At Fakenham there is a decent card and we have jumping at also at Plumpton with the flat racing at Wolverhampton, as it also is on Tuesday. There are a few bets to consider today, here is my short list for the day;

2:00 Fakenham Five Dream- Win. Having been held up by the weather we are likely to see some better than average horses run at the smaller tracks, certainly in novice events, Five Dream is no world beater, but was a winner at Cheltenham for the Champion trainer and should be up to this task, taking a drop in grade. First point is the obvious danger but when meeting decent opposition last time he was not up to the task and I take Five Dream to shade it!

Free Horseracing Tips

Five Dream Wins at Cheltenham

2:30 Fakenham Massasoit- Win. This should be an easy victory for Paul Nicholls’ horse who should be way too good for these and is one to include in doubles and multi-bets. He has over a stone in hand on the ratings and should provide connections with one of their easier winners.

3:00 Fakenham Kerada- Win. Nicky Henderson has won three of the last four runnings of this race and he should do it again with the exciting Kerada. Last time out she returned to action with an impressive performance over hurdles at Huntingdon and could make up into a smart sort if she can build on that but she does drop back in trip and have softer ground to contend with but she looks exciting and potentially much better than these.

3:10 Plumpton- Carrickmines- Win. It is a bit harsh that the handicapper put up Carrickmines by two pounds for a second last time, but they do that! That was a good run that defied a sharp rise for a couple of wins previously. This is a poor race, to say the least. I rate Carrickmines, if he runs his race and has not been held up by the weather, as a very good bet. My worry is that the trainers two runners on Saturday were both pulled up, suggesting they may be short of work. On form he should win, but…. its a tough one!

Carl Harris’ Best Bets for Monday 18 January

  • 2:00 Fakenham Five Dream- Win.
  • 2:30 Fakenham Massasoit- Win
  • 3:00 Fakenham Kerada- Win
  • 3:10 Plumpton- Carrickmines- Win

UK Bloodstock Investments, 14 December

ABBEVILLIAN 2.05 PLUMPTON.

This horse fell at the last in a bumper at Punchestown while challenging for the lead on his first ever run in march 2008, He then joined CR Egerton in England & was put in an Ascot bumper over 2m on his first run for his new trainer in November 2008 where he finished 2nd but made Nicky Hendersons Riverside Theatre pull out all the stops & went down by half a length, He was getting 4lb from the Henderson horse but that was still a good performance with the 3rd horse 5 lengths behind along with some notable future winners, Around 3 weeks later he ran 3rd in a bumper at Newbury over 2m, Then in december he made his hurdling debut in a class 2 novice hurdle at Newbury over 2m finishing 4th to Nicky Hendersons Dave’s Dream.

Jumping at Plumpton on Monday

Jumping at Plumpton on Monday

This was a decent contest with the 2nd horse trained by A King going onto win shortly afterwards & the 3rd horse trained by F Doumen going on to win 2 races, Considering 2m is not really his trip he lost nothing in defeat, He was then put away for the best part of a year & Made his seasonal debut at Ludlow in november in a novice hurdle over 2m5f (his correct trip) where he was firmly in command going to the last & won by 5 lengths, That was on soft ground which he also gets today & the assistance of AP McCOY in the saddle, The Racing Post forecast favourite & selction is Aldertune trained by PF Nicholls & ridden by Ruby Walsh, They have to be respcted as PF Nicholls has won 2 of the last 10 runnings of this race & he is double handed with 2 runners in the race but the paper favourite Aldertune has not met rivals anywhere near as good as Abbevillian has, I dont think Plumpton would be his ideal track but i still think Abbevillian can give the Nicholls horse 7lbs and a beating.

Ayr was a pretty decent card on Monday but it has fallen victim to the weather, frozen track. That leaves Plumpton and a bumper eight race card at Wolverhampton.

The novice chases at this time of year can provide some big name horses on quiet cards and Franchoek at Plumpton is a perfect example. He adds a bit of spice to an otherwise mediocre card.

13:35 Plumpton, Franchoek- Win. Surely he must get off the mark here over fences.Alan King’s gelding has a rating of 155 over hurdles and nothing in the race comes close to that. However he was well beaten on his chasing debut last time at Huntingdon where connections will hope he learnt a thing or two. With that race on his figures we may get a good price and if so, and only if the price is right will I have a go here.

McCoy rides for Jonjo O'Neil

McCoy rides for Jonjo O'Neil

15:10 Plumpton, Noun De La Thinte- Win. I have no idea how to pronounce this but I do think it will win. The mare won well last week at Warwick and should go well here. That victory was by a short head but what we do know is that she will appreciate the conditions and is in good form. On a day short on good bets Venitia Williams’ mare is worth a small investment.

Carl Harris’ Best Bets for Monday 14 December

  • 15:10 Plumpton, Noun De La Thinte- Win
  • 13:35 Plumpton, Franchoek- Win

On the all-weather Dessert Vision (16:20) may be worth a bet for those wanting a bit of flat action. Another low key day for me.

LAY BETS- due to the poor cards, there no lays today. I’m not doing so well with my lays so no bad thing some may say!

Three jumps meetings with Ayr, Catterick and Plumpton staging cards of varying quality. Catterick is a pretty grim place to go, even in summer, but in winter it is particularly desperate. A few quid invested in the track is badly needed but that said there is an interesting card there today.

Kempton stages an all-weather meeting under the lights, which once again is not for me. I am sticking to the jumps which has allowed me to put more time in to the cards, with less to study, and has paid handsome dividends so far. The weekend is once again shaping up as very good. The Tingle Creek will be a great race and is up for grabs now Master Minded is absent.

Here are my best bets for Wednesday.

12:50 Ayr, Bedlam Boy- Win. Ferdy Murphy has definitely changed his early season training regime, if results are any indication. Bedlam boy was an easy winner on his chase debut last month at Carlisle and can follow-up here. He should strip fitter for that win in what looks a pretty poor race with the only worry being whether we can get a decent price for the layers.  A banker bet today is Bedlam Boy.

14:05 Plumpton, Carrickmines- Win. A winner last week, a very easy one by eighteen lengths, Carrickmines is sure to go up significantly in the weights and therefore is out again under a penalty. His six opponents are not in winning form and it looks as though the race is at the mercy of Dr Newland’s charge with the excellent Daryl Jacob in the saddle.

Master Minded misses Tingle Creek

Master Minded misses Tingle Creek

14:35 Plumpton, Shore Thing- Win. No price, one for the multi-bets but another that I like to double up my bets with for a nice Brucie bonus on winnings.

14:15 Catterick, Alegralil- Win. Again no great prices on offer but Donald McCain has a decent mare on his hands. She has won two bumpers and made a very pleasing start over hurdles at Towcester. The old adage about Towcester form certainly doesn’t apply here as she looks a genuine top class performer who will readily give weight away to this field and win. If the price is attractive then Alegralil is the best bet of the day.

Carl Harris’ Best Bets or Wednesday 2 December

  • 12:50 Ayr, Bedlam Boy- Win
  • 14:05 Plumpton, Carrickmines- Win
  • 14:15 Catterick, Alegralil- Win.
  • 14:35 Plumpton, Shore Thing- Win

Well, I’m still laid up, but managing to enjoy the racing via Betfair Radio and Channel 4. Monday is much lower key than we have seen over the weekend. Master Minded looked to hang badly right and I hope all is well with the dual Champion Chaser.

Jumping takes place at Leicester and Plumpton on Monday, where I like a few but suggest caution with rain and storms currently lashing the UK. Here are my suggested bets today which I am doing in a slightly different format.

13:10 Leicester, Screaming Brave (no 5)- Win. Sheena West had a decent winner at Taunton recently and will hope to go one better than Screaming Brave’s debut when second to a well regarded sort. Dark Oasis has been rather prolific over hurdles but is weighted here with penalties today. I think Screaming Brave will win to get things off to a decent start.

15:10 Leicester, Bureaucrat (no 2)- Win. A weak looking claimer in which the selction should be too good for the field. It would be a big shock were this not to win, my only hope is that the price is worthy of backing.

Another day of Jumping

Another day of Jumping

Race of the Day….

A race to watch is the 13:50 at Plumpton where The Betchworth Kid makes his hurdles debut for Alan King. There is rumour that Alan King has told his fellow trainers that this horse will win the Champion Hurdle, so should win easily today. Standing in his way though is a rather interesting horse in the shape of Coin Of The Realm who has a great deal of promise given both his flat form and rating as well as the positive impresssion shown last time out at Aintree (having won on the flat since).  That said The Betchworth Kid is rated 100 on the flat, a stone better than Coin Of The Realm. Champion Hurdle aspirations suggest he should bolt up here. A very interesting race for a Monday, to say the least.

Carl Harris’ Best Bets for Monday 16th November

  • 13:10 Leicester, Screaming Brave (no 5)
  • 15:10 Leicester, Bureaucrat (no 2)

Oh Dear! what a shocking pair of flat cards at Windsor and Pontefract, with traditional end of season mediocrity. The shape of things to come in the coming weeks is National Hunt racing which is where my attention will be focusing on Monday at Plumpton. I reckon the angle is to double up and I am looking to bookend the card at Plumpton.

2.20 Plumpton- Fairmile, Win

Rated 107 on the flat Fairmile (14:20) is a very exciting recruit to hurdling. George Baker will be looking to much better prizes than this maiden hurdle at Plumpton for his new acquisition. Fairmile has been called some names for his antics on the flat but he really should win this, if not I would suggest there will be some long faces. The change of stable may give Fairmile some new found interest, likewise the hurdles. I think Fairmile is well worth backing, he should be far too good for this lot today.

5.20 Plumpton- River Beauty, Win

When my favourite trainer and jockey team up then I always take note, as do the layers, particularly in bumpers as Henderson and McCoy have a fantastic record together, particularly in the early part of the season. River Beauty (17:20) will likely be a short price but on a day like this it is worth taking what you can and I will be doubling up my two selections for maximum return. River Beauty looks the best bet of the day.
