Paddy Power Looks Ahead to a big Weekend

This week’s Paddy Power’s Weekend Bulletin looks at Chelsea’s big game against Liverpool and some of the talking points this week in football.

With only four draws in the Premier League so far this season Paddy Power are betting on how many stalemates there will be this weekend as well as the last team in the division to record a draw this season.

There’s also been a goal blitz so far this season with 37 goals racked up last week and Paddy Power bet on how many goals there will be this week as well as which team will score most.

DUNWOODY BACKS HIMSELF WITH BALLROOM BET

DUNWOODY BACKS HIMSELF WITH BALLROOM BET

Strictly Come Dancing contestant Richard Dunwoody has backed himself with a bet to win this year’s ballroom show.

Dunwoody Strictly Come Dancing

Dunwoody Strictly Come Dancing

The former champion jockey has linked up with his friend bookmaker Paddy Power to place a £1000 charity bet that he goes all the way – and at odds of 33/1 to win this year’s show a Dunwoody victory would return £33,000 for his Trust which benefits the likes of Racing Welfare, Sparks, Spinal Research and Alzheimers.

Paddy said: “Richard would be too modest to ask for your votes but I’m not. Just like in his racing days Richard could well be this year’s People’s Champion on the show, maybe we’ll have another John Sergeant to enjoy!”

Facebook Flutter

Paddy Power has also started a Facebook Fanpage for fans of the champion jockey to show their support – including a video of Paddy and Richard discussing this year’s runners and riders on the show.

Paddy Power are also betting on Dunwoody’s points score on Friday night, making a tally of 16-20 points the most likely at 7/4. However it looks as though the jockey will have to crack the whip to win the competition with Ricky Whittle and Ali Bastian the hot favourites at 2/1 and 9/4 respectively.

Sol Cambell, Where Next?

Sol Campbell’s shock exit from Notts County after just one game has bookies once again dusting off their next club betting on the fickle footballer. And with Campbell having expressed interest in moving to America in the past Paddy Power is offering 11/4 that the defender’s next club is in the MLS.

Having shocked football with his move to County in the first place there were several clubs believed to have been interested in signing the former England star in the summer, amongst them Newcastle and Aston Villa. Paddy Power now offers 4/1 that Newcastle is Campbell’s next club with Aston Villa less likely at 16/1. A return to Portsmouth is 7/1.

The bookie also offers 66/1 that Sol answers Harry Redknapp’s centre-back injury crisis with a return to Spurs.

Darren Haines, spokesman for Paddy Power, said: “One thing that can be said about Sol Campbell’s career is that his next move has always been a surprise – so where he ends up next could be anyone’s guess.”

Arlene Phillips back to Strictly?

PUNTERS BACK ARLENE FOR SRICTLY RETURN

Paddy Power have slashed the odds on Arlene Phillips returning to the Strictly Come Dancing judging panel to 3/1after her replacement Alesha Dixon made a shaky debut on the show.

It was a case of out with the new and in with the old as furious fans swamped BBC message boards criticising the former Mis-Teeq star, and calling for choreographer Phillips to be reinstated.

arlene-phillips-strictly-come-dancing-410x230

Sharon McHugh, spokesperson for Paddy Power said: “After Alesha’s far from fantastic start on Strictly, our punters are now more confident than ever that Arlene will be back. The BBC will no doubt be hoping the commotion dies down but after the recent reaction from fans, it looks unlikely to any time soon!”

Meanwhile, it was the X Factor who was the big winner at the weekend. X Factor wiped the floor with Strictly Come Dancing’s pulling in almost 2 million more viewers.

With still a few weeks to go Paddy Power are quoting 3/1 that Strictly can top X Factor’s viewing figures for the whole series while it’s 1/5 that X Factor stays at the top spot.

One punter had £7,000 on Fallon at 3/1 as soon as Strike The Deal, the second leg of his double, had crossed the line.

Paddy Power said, “Poor old Strike The Deal hadn’t even had a drink when they started piling into his jockey to be Champion again!  Not that we needed reminding, but the king is back”.

FALLON’S RETURN – 4/1 HE’S CHAMPION JOCK

Fallon back next week

Fallon back next week

Kieren Fallon makes his eagerly awaited return to race riding next Friday and Paddy Power are betting that he hits the ground running.

The multiple champion jockey is rated just 7-1 to win the upcoming St. Leger and 4-1 to win the jockey’s championship next year.

In terms of Fallon’s next boss, the bookie thinks it an unlikely 25-1 that he returns to Ballydoyle and an even less likely 33-1 that he replaces Christophe Soumillon as the Aga Khan’s retained jockey.

In recent times Fallon has been no stranger to controversy and Paddy Power also offer odds on what his next ban will be for.  The bookie is almost certain that it will be for careless riding rating the offence odds on at 4/7.

Punters who fondly remember Fallon’s strength in a finish may be tempted by the 6/4 offered on a  ban due to excessive use of the whip.  While less likely outsiders are a repeat of his ban for using a banned substance at 33/1 and a ban for race fixing at 100/1.

Paddy Power said, “Punters the length and breadth of the land will be rubbing their hands at the prospect of the return of the winners machine.  Bookies beware, Fallon is back!”

BELGIAN GRAND PRIX – Sunday Live BBC 1

With Brawn having been reeled in by the pack, Formula One looks closer than ever with the rejuvenated world champion Lewis Hamilton 3/1 favourite to win the Belgian Grand Prix this weekend.

Belgian Grand Prix - Sunday

Belgian Grand Prix - Sunday

However bookie Paddy Power only just has the British driver ahead of Red Bull racers Webber and Vettel at 10/3 despite their recent reliability problems, with Championship leader Jenson Button following at 8/1.

With Hamilton’s McLaren car once again competitive Paddy Power are also betting on who will be the best Brit in the race making Lewis the 1/2 favourite to beat Jenson – with Button 6/4. But Brawn, who won last week’s European Grand Prix in Valencia, are 4/1 to take the chequered flag in Belgium on Sunday with Jenson Button 16/1 for the hat-trick of the race win, fastest lap and pole position.
