The Hitman is that to mark your card for a big Saturday of action with flat racing from Newmarket and a top-quality jumps card at Wetherby. Will the Hitman be on target yet again? Free horseracing tips from Racing Diary…
Next weekend sees the Breeders Cup, with some real top-quality horses running and we will look in detail at that card next week. Although nothing quite reaches those heights on Saturday there is still plenty to go at and I think Frankie Dettori will continue his excellent form for Godolphin at Newmarket.
Here are todays Free Horseracing Tips, for Saturday 30 October 2010…..
Alexandros ( 2:35) is one of three Godolphin runners in the field but should quite readily be the best although the his biggest threat will probably come from stablemate Secrecy ridden by Jamie Spencer. rated 112 and sporting headgear for the first time Dettori looks to have the race at his mercy.
Picture Editor (3:45 Newmarket) is probably more interesting to watch today than to back, unless for some unknown reason he is offered at decent odds, but I would expect him to be short and I would expect him to win in the style of a good horse.. He has been the subject of a lot of Derby speculation since winning his maiden and then trotting up in a ridiculous degree runner race last time at odds of 1 – 14. If those comments are anywhere near the mark then this should be nothing more than an exercise canter with only really Measuring Time likely to put up any sort of reasonable opposition. if this one is offered at odds against then snap it up!
At a better price I like Kirklees (4:20 Newmarket) who has the able assistance of Frankie Dettori in the saddle and is another one of three runners saddled by Godolphin. The six-year-old will need to return to his best to figure here having run slightly below par on his last couple of runs but with the stable in such good form and then Kirklees at his best would have very strong claims and I think represents some value in this field.
So we turn our attention to National Hunt racing and the Wetherby card for the Charlie Hall Chase is always decent, today is no exception. It is great to see some of the big names of jumps racing back from their summer breaks and I will be eagerly casting my eye over a few of today’s runners for the season ahead and the buildup of course to The Cheltenham Festival 2011.
Deep Purple one the Charlie Hall Chase 12 months ago for Evan Williams and is back to defend his title but faces some stiff competition not least from the veteran Ollie Magern, Barbers Shop and the horse I think will win, Nacarat (3:25 Wetherby). Deep Purple has to concede 10 pounds in weight to Nacarat which I think is a tall order to say the least and with Sam Thomas taking the ride for Tom George I am very keen here on the chances of the nine-year-old who at the weights looks to clear form pick.
Former Cheltenham winner Tidal Bay (2:50 Wetherby) reverts to hurdles in what has turned out to be a fabulous looking John Smith’s Hurdle. Fair Along is sure to take them along at a good clip and I think will set this up nicely for Tidal Bay although the likely favourite will be Nicky Henderson’s Duc De Regneire who is a top quality individual but for me despite having to give weight away Tidal Bay has bags of quality and can take this under Brian Hughes who has a very big chance to impress major connections today.
What ever you are backing today good look!
