The Hitman On Saturday, 30 October

Free Horseracing Tips

By Carl Harris

The Hitman is that to mark your card for a big Saturday of action with flat racing from Newmarket and a top-quality jumps card at Wetherby. Will the Hitman be on target yet again? Free horseracing tips from Racing Diary…

Next weekend sees the Breeders Cup, with some real top-quality horses running and we will look in detail at that card next week. Although nothing quite reaches those heights on Saturday there is still plenty to go at and I think Frankie Dettori will continue his excellent form for Godolphin at Newmarket.

Here are todays Free Horseracing Tips, for Saturday 30 October 2010…..

Free Horseracing Tips

The Hitman Has Dettori in His Sights on Saturday!

Alexandros ( 2:35) is one of three Godolphin runners in the field but should quite readily be the best although the his biggest threat will probably come from stablemate Secrecy ridden by Jamie Spencer. rated 112 and sporting headgear for the first time Dettori looks to have the race at his mercy.

Picture Editor (3:45 Newmarket) is probably more interesting to watch today than to back, unless for some unknown reason he is offered at decent odds, but I would expect him to be short and I would expect him to win in the style of a good horse.. He has been the subject of a lot of Derby speculation since winning his maiden and then trotting up in a ridiculous degree runner race last time at odds of 1 – 14.  If those comments are anywhere near the mark then this should be nothing more than an exercise canter with only really  Measuring Time likely to put up any sort of reasonable opposition. if this one is offered at odds against then snap it up!

At a better price I like Kirklees (4:20 Newmarket) who has the able assistance of Frankie Dettori in the saddle and is another one of three runners saddled by Godolphin. The six-year-old will need to return to his best to figure here having run slightly below par on his last couple of runs but with the stable in such good form and then Kirklees at his best would have very strong claims and I think represents some value in this field.

The Buildup to the Cheltenham Festival Starts Here!

So we turn our attention to National Hunt racing and the Wetherby card for the Charlie Hall Chase is always decent, today is no exception. It is great to see some of the big names of jumps racing back from their summer breaks and I will be eagerly casting my eye over a few of today’s runners for the season ahead and the buildup of course to The Cheltenham Festival 2011.

Deep Purple one the Charlie Hall Chase 12 months ago for Evan Williams and is back to defend his title but faces some stiff competition not least from the veteran Ollie Magern, Barbers Shop and the horse I think will win, Nacarat (3:25 Wetherby). Deep Purple has to concede 10 pounds in weight to Nacarat which I think is a tall order to say the least and with Sam Thomas taking the ride for Tom George I am very keen here on the chances of the nine-year-old who at the weights looks to clear form pick.

Former Cheltenham winner Tidal Bay (2:50 Wetherby) reverts to hurdles in what has turned out to be a fabulous looking John Smith’s Hurdle. Fair Along is sure to take them along at a good clip and I think will set this up nicely for Tidal Bay although the likely favourite will be Nicky Henderson’s Duc De Regneire who is a top quality individual but for me despite having to give weight away Tidal Bay has bags of quality and can take this under Brian Hughes who has a very big chance to impress major connections today.

What ever you are backing today good look!

The Hitman Horseracing Tips, Saturday 16 October

Well, what today we have in store today with top-class action from Newmarket (and boy is it top-class) as well as jump racing from Cheltenham. This day really marks the transition from flat racing to jump racing, but the big race is definitely the Dewhurst stakes at Newmarket.

Frankel, Henry Cecil

How Good is Frankel?

Carl Harris, The Hit Man, Takes a Look at the Day’s Action and Mark Your Card with the Best Bets on Super Saturday..

I make no apologies for focusing on Newmarket today with one eye on Cheltenham for what promises to be a fantastic winter of National Hunt racing. The best of the action without a shadow of a doubt is the champion stakes card at Newmarket, which kicks off with a group 2 (1:50) and the return to action, at a meaningful level at least, of Delegator. A rating of 121 puts him in group one class and really he should win this quite readily with the main challenge coming from Red Jazz, who seems to find winning very difficult.

Delegator return to action last month with a good win at Newbury and he is sure to have improved for that outing. Indeed, Frankie Dettori told Racing UK that he gave him a really good feel in recent work on the gallops this week and if he runs to the form he has shown in the past, using his blistering turn of speed, then Delegator should be somewhat of a good thing here. Famous last words you may say, but he does tick all the boxes here.

Free Horseracing Tips

Delegator can win for us on Saturday

The big race of the day, possibly of the season and in some respects, in juvenile terms, of the century is the Dewhurst Stakes (2:45) which features three unbeaten, and the best, two-year-olds we have seen this season. This really shakes up as a great race and whoever wins here will go into winter quarters as favourite for the 2000 Guineas next year. Though you cannot readily dismiss Saamidd, the amount of Frankie Dettori, I think this boils down to our match between Dream Ahead and Frankel. Regular readers will know that Dream Ahead holds a special place in my affections having landed a couple of group ones in great style. However, only a fool would ignore the vibes emanating from Newmarket about Frankel.

Henry Cecil is possibly the best trainer of all time, a personal view, but without a shadow of a doubt he is one of the all-time greats. He has publicly said that this is the best horse he has trained since Wallow who was his first 2000 Guineas winner. If you do not take that seriously, then my friends I make no apologies for calling you an idiot. I was told that in a competitive gallop at home Frankel went clear by some 25 lengths. Some very serious people are saying that he could be the best two-year-old of all time,

I have never heard such terminology about a horse in my lifetime. I think Dream Ahead is a very good horse indeed, but possibly Frankel is one of those that comes along so infrequently that you have to call him exceptional. He looks the real deal and has done absolutely nothing wrong so far, safe Saturday is his big test but I can tell you right now he is fully expected to pass it with flying colours. I would advise taking the price in the morning because the weight of money expected for Frankel will be huge, but in all reality he will probably be too short for many to get involved with. I think we are safe with our forecast of Frankel to beat Dream Ahead. I would strongly advise taking the price now about Frankel for the 2000 Guineas as he is very likely to be odds-on after tomorrow.

totesport.com

If that wasn’t good enough straight after we have the Champion Stakes (3:00) which is another fascinating group one contest. Henry Cecil runs last year’s winner Twice Over again but I think this can go to the boys in blue with Poet’s Voice who has improved out of hand this season and showed genuine class when beating Ripe Van Winkle under a scintillating Frankie Dettori ride in the Queen Elizabeth at Ascot last time out. I strongly fancy him to win again. There is no better jockey to judge the pace in a race than Frankie Dettori and as a backer I see him as a big reason for backing Poet’s Place..

Free Horseracing Tips

Twice Over goes in these colours

Well, what a superb opening to the card, but it does not stop there, The Totesport Cesarewitch (3:40) is the next on the card. This is in truth a bit of a lottery although I have to say that if money talks then Universal Truth, trained in Ireland by Dermot Weld, is the one to be on. There has been a sustained anti-post gamble on this fella, but I prefer Red Cadeaux, who offers better value and is a rock solid each way bet, widely available at 10 – 1.  Ed Dunlop’s gelding comes here on the back of a very decent course and distance trial which had many of today’s opposition well beaten behind. The blinkers could hold the key to his chances and one cannot ignore the fact that Johnny Murtagh rides him again, no doubt having had opportunities to ride several others. My advice would be to take the price in the morning.

What a great day of racing at Newmarket as the 2010 flat season draws to a close. Cheltenham stage is a very good day racing which really marks the start of the National Hunt season and the buildup to the 2011 Cheltenham Festival which is just the best week of the year and my best bet of the day at Cheltenham is Barizan (3:15) although I have to be perfectly honest about it, I will be focusing on the flat.at least for today!

Good look, Carl.

Free Horseracing Tips for Friday from Newmarket, a big weekend of racing kicks off today….

Free Horseracing Tips

Free Horseracing Tips

2:55 Newmarket, Loving Spirit (Win) has all the right credentials to take the Bet At bluesq.com Houghton Conditions Stakes at Newmarket. It is a while since local trainer James Toller had the likes of Bachelor Duke and Compton Place in his care, but this son of Azamour looks a very nice prospect. Once-raced, his debut came on the Rowley Mile at the turn of the month, where he put the more experienced White Frost to the sword by five lengths. That was over seven furlongs on soft ground and he relished every yard, streaking clear despite hanging left. With plenty of stamina in the pedigree he will be one for middle distances next season so the step up to a mile here is only going to be in his favour. Frankie Dettori has deserted Al Zir in the Richard Hambro Darley Stakes, but don’t let that put you off. The strapping Medaglia D’Oro colt is on the comeback trail after creditable efforts in defeat in the 2000 Guineas and Derby, where he travelled like a dream before finding the petrol gauge running on empty. He returned at Doncaster’s St Leger meeting, with the Godolphin operation at pains to stress beforehand that he would definitely need the run. That is how it panned out, but it should have done him the world of good and if he is anywhere near his best he will go very close under Ted Durcan, who has usurped Dettori in this situation a good few times before.

Majestic Concorde cut for totesport.com Cesarewitch

Dermot Weld may train the current 7/1 favourite for the totesport.com Cesarewitch in the shape of Universal Truth but punters have been rushing to back his other runner Majestic Concorde this afternoon, forcing the sponsors to cut the dual-purpose performer to 11/1 (from 14/1).

The seven-year-old was last seen on the level when finishing fourth in the totesport.com Chester Cup but has since finished third over the sticks when the heavily-backed favourite of the Galway Plate back in July.

‘Dermot Weld became the first Irish trainer to land the Cesarewitch back in 1992 with the mighty Vintage Crop and punters clearly think he’s got two very strong chances in this year’s renewal,’ said totesport spokesman George Primarolo.

Dermot Weld’s gelding hasn’t been seen on the level for over a year but has since run twice over hurdles including when breaking his duck in a maiden hurdle at the Galway Festival. The only two notable withdrawals include last year’s winner Darley Sun and Alan King’s Manyriverstocross who had been as short as 12/1 with the sponsors.

‘Universal Truth hasn’t exactly set the world alight in three runs on the level to date but Dermot Weld has already worked the oracle this season with an ex-bumper horse in the shape of Rite Of Passage and there’s no reason why he can’t repeat the dose with the Cesarewitch favourite,’ said totesport spokesman George Primarolo.

Admiral Barry has been well-backed since picking up a 4lb penalty for his victory at the Curragh last month and is next in the market at 8/1. The money keeps coming for Red Cadeaux as well and Ed Dunlop’s gelding has been cut to 10/1 (from 12/1) by the sponsors.

The most anticipated race of the entire flat season takes place at Newmarket on Saturday where a potential field of 12 could line up for the Dubai Dewhurst Stakes at Newmarket.

As expected, Saamidd has been supplemented by Godolphin which means racegoers could see three high-class two-year-olds clash on the Rowley Mile but totesport make Frankel the 8/13 favourite after his demolition of the Royal Lodge field at Ascot last time out. Dream Ahead also produced a devastating performance when taking the Middle Park last time out and is next in the market at 3/1 whilst Saamidd is the 9/2 third-favourite.

Twice Over and Vision d’Etat have been installed as the 7/2 joint-favourites for the Emirates Champion Stakes on Saturday by totesport after 15 were confirmed at the six-day stage. Queen Elizabeth II Stakes winner Poet’s Voice has been supplemented to the field at a cost of £30,000 and he is next in the market at 11/2.

Frankel heads 12 six-day acceptors for the Dubai Dewhurst Stakes at Newmarket.

As expected, Godolphin forked out the £20,000 to supplement Saamidd after his impressive victory in the Champagne Stakes at Doncaster.

On paper Dream Ahead brings the strongest form into the race.

Unbeaten in three starts, David Simcock’s colt has won two of those races at Group One level.

However, the noises coming from Henry Cecil’s Warren Place yard suggest that Frankel is something out of the ordinary.

The usually reticent Cecil has stated that the Galileo youngster is the best juvenile he has trained for 30 years.

Clive Brittain’s Chesham winner Zaidan will be looking to bounce back from a disappointing run in the Washington Singer Stakes at Newbury.

Coventry Stakes runner-up Elzaam and Acomb winner Waiter’s Dream are others bringing Pattern-race form to the table.

There will be a maximum field of 12, with a strong presence from Ireland likely.

Aidan O’Brien, who has won the race twice previously with Rock Of Gibraltar in 2001 and Beethoven last year, can chose from Master Of Hounds, Oracle, Roderic O’Connor and Seville.

Jim Bolger, who won three Dewhursts in a row with Teofilo, New Approach and Intense Focus, has left in the luckless Glor Na Mara, still a maiden despite competing solely in Group company to date.

Absinthe Made of Strong Stuff at 11/1 in Cambridgeshire

Free Horseracing Tips from Carl 'The Hitman' Harris

By Carl Harris- The Hitman

Carl ‘The Hitman’ Harris marks your card with Saturday’s best best at Newmarket….Free Horseracing Tips, Exclusive to Racing Diary

The big betting race of the day is the Totesport Cambridgeshire at Newmarket where the rain has been falling steadily and the ground is plenty soft enough for many runners. The trick therefore is to find the right horse on the right ground at the right price. It is another decent card and a very big weekend of horseracing in Europe. I will be punting from Redcar on Saturday to Longchamp on Sunday, as exciting as it is diverse, I think you will agree.

Newmarket kicks off on Saturday with the Tattersalls £300,000 Fillies Trophy and the £500,000 Tattersalls Millions two-year-old Trophy, with a valuable prize money attracting the inevitable big fields, but in these races class usually prevails.

1:55 Newmarket, Together, Win. Last Year Aidan O’Brien and Johnny Murtagh teamed up to land this race with the odds-on Lily Langtry who was rated 109 and won with plenty in hand. This year they are back with a filly rated 108 in Together and comes here after running White Moonstone to and neck in the group 1 fillies mile at Ascot last Saturday. She is by far, on all known form, the best filly in this field and I see history repeating itself with Aidan O’Brien and Johnny Murtagh landing this quite easily. I just hope the layers give us a workable price.

Free Horseracing Tips

Johnny Murtagh can win on Together

2:25 Newmarket, Formosina, Win. There are plenty of on exposed types in this 27 strong field, however there are a couple that have real decent form not least the Richard Hannon trained Measuring Time, Janood ( who disappointed last time but outgrew one level) and Jeremy Noseda’s colt Formosina. He comes here having lost nothing in defeat to the very highly rated Temple Meads, who of course ran in the Group 1 Middle Park Stakes on Friday. This is a competitive race and you always have to fear unexposed horses so caution is advised but the form looks good and there may be some value to be had.

3:00 Newmarket, (Group 1), Music Show, Win. This is a very good race for fillies over a mile with the three-year-olds taking on older horses. The one I really like is the Mick Channon trained Music Show who prove what a really good filly she is when landing the group 1 Falmouth Stakes on the July Course. She Had Several of Today’s Runners behind and lost nothing in defeat in France behind Goldikova and in Ireland behind Lily Langtry and Spacious. The big difference today though is that Richard Hughes is back on board who was on board in the Falmouth. In a competitive race Music Show should represent some value and I make her my best bet of the day.

3:40 Newmarket (The Cambridgeshire), Absinthe, Win and Place. This is always a competitive race and the 2010 renewal of the Toteport Cambridgeshire is no exception. John Gosden seems to hold the key to this with two highly fancied runners, indeed Nationalism, the mount of stable jockey William Buick has been the subject of a sustained ante-post gamble and will almost certainly go off favourite. I can see why he is favourite after a good win at Goodwood, on soft ground, he looks well treated but 4/1 is absolutely no value and I prefer to look elsewhere. At double-digit odds the one I like the look of is the Walter Swinburn trained Absinthe. After a long layoff he returned to action at Kempton in April finishing third in handicap company and after another layoff he returned to action at Sandown to win very well and then did so again at Windsor to earn and nine pound rise in the weights. Now from a mark of 92 the question one needs to ask is how is the handicapper now got to him? I don’t think so, I certainly think he is capable of running a big race off that Mark and we do know that the ground will not be an issue so I think he is worth taking a chance on at decent odds. Of course this is a competitive race but you have to be in it to win it!

I will be back with a preview of the Arc for tomorrow, until then good luck!

Fridays Free Horseracing Tips, 1 October

Welcome to October! Where did the year go? The flat season certainly seemed to go by in the blink of an eye and it really is the start of winter and the National Hunt season proper, certainly after this weekend when we have the Cambridgeshire and the Arc on Sunday. Here are your free horseracing tips for Friday…

Workforce - can he win the Arc?

it has been confirmed that Derby winner Workforce will run in Sunday’s big race, which will make it interesting and if he returns to the kind of form we saw at Epsom then he has to have a big chance, but we will look at Sunday’s Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe in more detail over the weekend.

Richard Hughes continues at full steam ahead in pursuit of the champion jockey title and has more live chances today. Here are your free horseracing tips for Friday.

1:55 Newmarket, Premio Loco, Win. I have to say that last time out I think Chris Wall’s six-year-old was unlucky behind Balthazar’s Gift in a Group 2 contest at Doncaster. Back down to group 3 level he has to give away five pounds to his opponents but unofficial ratings that should not inconvenience him and despite the presence of some decent animals I will be backing Premio Loco again here with George Baker, who gets on so well with him, retaining the ride.

2:30 Newmarket, Hooray, Win. Sir Mark Prescott has a very exciting filly on his hands in the shape of Hooray, a daughter of Invincible Spirit. She comes here on the back of two group wins and has a very good opportunity to win this prestigious group 1 Cheveley Park Stakes in the colours of the sponsors. she already has form lines with some of today’s field and I think has a very big chance, certainly her win at York in the group ,2, Lowther Stakes where she had three of today’s opponents behind her is the best form in the book. Sir Mark does not win that many group 1 races and it would be deserved and I am sure very welcome. Seb Sanders you can rest assured we’ll give it absolutely everything from the saddle, and there is no better jockey to do so in my view. What he lacks in finesse he certainly makes up for in no nonsense direct race riding.

3:05 Newmarket, Dream Ahead, Win. Another group 1 race this time for two-year-olds, where Richard Hannon is the top man and runs Strong Suit, with Richard Hughes in the saddle, in the colours of Julie Wood. However I think there are a couple of horses that can beat the Hannon runner not least Temple Meads and Dream Ahead who is already a group 1 winner, with only two career starts to his name. This is without a shadow of a doubt have very decent horse who is still improving and has been the subject of glowing reports from the David Simcock camp and he is showing that given a very good horse he can compete with the big boys. I am confident that Dreamer Ahead is the best of these and I make this my best bet of the day.

Thursdays Free Horseracing Tips, 30 September

Are big weekend of horse racing starts here, with the start of Newmarket’s Cambridgeshire meeting. Of course we also have the Arc at Longchamp on Sunday. Bizarrely the race I am looking forward to most is the two-year-old trophy at Redcar on Saturday, where Wootton Bassett is the horse I think will win.

So on Thursday I am focusing on Newmarket. There are also meetings at Warwick, Ayr and Kempton but it is Newmarket where we find the best of the action. Here are your free horseracing tips for Thursday…

3:10 Newmarket, Harris Tweed, Win. There is no doubt that Harris Tweed is still improving as we saw at Chester last time out when he won a listed race by 10 lengths, making a mockery of the opposition. He lines up again in a listed company and I fully expect him to win again although I am not sure that it will be by such a wide margin as last time, but you never know! he certainly is a very nice horse and with a rating of 112 bit gives the others, unofficial ratings, plenty to find. The well named Harris Tweed is my best bet of the day.

3:45 Newmarket, The Paddyman, Win. The best race of the day is the Tattersall stakes, this group 3 contest for juveniles. Some very nice types line up here and the first thing to do in a two-year-old race is to look for the names Hannon and Hughes. Richard Hannon runs two, with Richard Hughes riding for Her Majesty the Queen aboard Royal Exchange. Although I probably should know better I am opposing the Hannon team and backing The Paddy Man who I think is a very nice colt and comes here on the back of a decent run in better company, in the Mill Reef Stakes behind Temple Meads. A reproduction of that, coupled with the step up to 7 furlongs, should be enough in my view to see him home here to hopefully complete a double for William Haggas. Just a note, Hannon and Hughes one this last year with the 33 to 1 shot, Sir Parky.

That’s it for today, good luck!
