Free Horseracing Tips for Friday from the Hitman…Last Saturday Newbury was off, today it’s back to Newbury on Friday for the toteSPORT Trophy……

Tony McCoy on Get Me Out Of Here

Last year the Totesport Trophy was won by Get me Out Of Here (1:50), who in fairness ran off a silly weight. We backed in and it bolted up! He then finished second to Menoragh in the Supreme Novices at Cheltenham, but this season it is as if someone has swapped it for a moderate type, so bad has his form been. Well I have a theory and it is that this is the race for Get Me Out Of Here to land a bit of a touch ! Now I stress I have no information but I suspect that he has been trained with this race in mind and I reckon that he is definately one to be on at the prices. I am sure he is capabale of winning from what is to be fair a fifteen punds higher mark than last year, but if the horse we saw at Cheltenham turns up then he is capable and is my best each-way bet of the day!

Minella Stars (2:25) is very highly thought of by the Paul Nicholls team and comes here with a big reputaion. He was a bit green over the jumps but had enough of an engine to get home by over 3 lengths at Hereford last time out. I think this is a decent type who will go on to bigger and better things and the evens on Betfair is well worth taking.

The Hitman

The Hitman is on deadly form with the last six advised bets all winning! The Hitman is back with more totally Free Horseracing Tips for a super Saturday of racing. The big action is at Newbury with some top class jump racing….

There is also some top quality jumps racing over in Ireland, so plenty to get stuck in to on Saturday, here are the Hitman’s Free Horseracing Tips…….

Al Ferof (1:20) should get the Newbury card off to a winning start as he lines up against the Ap McCoy ridden Kid Cassidy. It should boil down to a match between the two with the Nicholls runner getting four pounds from the top weight I can’t see him winning, but with McCoy in the saddle anything is possible. Al Ferof for me though.

The Aon Chase is a grade 2 race and has attracted a small field which lacks a certain amount of quality. Noland has McCoy in the saddle following a good win last time but the form book tells us that mr Saturday, AKA Nicky Henderson, should win this with Riverside Theatre (2:25). He comes here after a second in the King George and though plenty have had a pop at that form it is the best on show. Noland is the main danger, but I think Riverside Theatre will be too good, I don’t think it will be close, I predict a romp!

Tony McCoy on Get Me Out Of Here

Last year the Totesport Trophy was won by Get me Out Of Here (3:35), who in fairness ran off a silly weight. Get the BEST PRICE on the Totesport Trophy…………

In Ireland….Leopardstown…

Zaidpour (2:45) should take the Deloitte Hurdle for the very in form Willie Mullins. He was hugely impressive when winning the Royal Bond Hurdle but was then beaten by First Lieutenant in the Future Champions here, a shock and I think he will win this and head to Cheltenham after this race.

Money Trix (3:15) can land the recheduled Irish Hennessey Gold Cup for Nicky Richards. A close second to What A Friend in the Lexus , a reproduction of that can see him take a valuable prize.

It should be a great day…. Get the best price on every race today with Racing Diary……..

Charlie McCann’s Weekend Preview; 12 Feb

A wonderful card from Newbury is today’s highlight including the richest handicap hurdle in Europe the totesport Trophy with 23 runners going to post including last year’s winner Get Me Out Of Here who must race from a mark 15lbs higher.

Get Me Out of Here

Runner up in last season’s Supreme Novices’ Hurdle he has been well supported in recent days and connections obviously expect to see a much improved show from the Jonjo O’Neill trained hurdler following two lack lustre efforts before the turn of the year.

Trainer Alan King has a very strong hand with both Salden Licht and Walkon (3.35) heading the market with victorchandler.com and the latter is given the nod. A Grade 1 winner as a juvenile he was off the track for best part of two years before running a wonderful race over an additional three furlongs at Ascot on his comeback.

His critics will tell you he is a prime candidate to “bounce” which is the explanation why many horses run poorly on their second start back from a long lay off, but if he is to take his place in the Champion Hurdle line up he must run well in what I consider to be a vintage renewal of the race.

Totesport Trophy: EW ¼ odds 1,2,3,4: prices from victorchandler.com

Salden Licht 7/1
Walkon 7/1
Solix 15/2
Get Me Out Of Here 9/1
Final Approach 9/1
Notus De La Tour 10/1
Soldatino 12/1
Recession Proof 12/1
14/1 Bar.

Riverside Theatre has won twice at Newbury but all his other wins have come right-handed and I think he is vulnerable favourite in a poor Aon Chase. The two fancied runners are owned by celebrities with actor Jimmy Nesbitt co-owner of Riverside Theatre and United boss Sir Alex Ferguson owner of What A Friend. Ogee would have been the selection had the rains stayed away and there is a decent handicap to be won with Renee Robeson’s stable star this spring but good or faster ground is essential.

If Sports Line (3.00) learns to settle he could become a decent chaser over the minimum distance and Timmy Murphy is an interesting booking for the McCain yard with stable jockey Jason Maguire at Warwick. He may get a soft lead and if proving more amenable to restraint for Murphy he would have a very good chance on his best form in Ireland.

Game Spirit Chase: ew ¼ 1, 2: prices from victorchandler.com

French Operan 5/2
Tchico Polos 5/2
Cornas 10/3
I’msingingtheblues 6/1
Sports Line 7/1
Oiseau De Nuit 14/1

Arkle favourite Finian’s Rainbow cannot be opposed at Warwick but he makes no appeal as a betting medium given a number of the yard’s inmates have performed below expectation in recent weeks.

There is a cracking novice chase with Alfie Sherrin and Cannington Brook meeting the talented mare Silver Kate (3.45) and it is the latter who bravely got back up to beat Voramar Two at Chepstow last time who is preferred. Alfie Sherrin has been well supported for the 4m National Hunt Chase at the Festival and he looks sure to go close but his market rival capitulated at Wetherby last time and he may well go off too short a price given his connections.

Dark Shadow (4.55) is reported as being well above average by the Henderson stable and if the yards’ runners have been running to form he must be supported in the concluding bumper.

Leoparstown stage their postponed Irish Hennessy card and the hope is that Mikael D’Haguenet (1.45) can break his maiden tag on his third start over fences. The surprise defection of Pride Of Dulcote weakens the feature event but this can still go to a British raider courtesy of Money Trix (3.15) representing Nicky Richards.

Horseracing Betting Update; toteSport Trophy

Salden Licht has been trimmed to 7/1 (from 8/1) for the totesport Trophy with the sponsors as punters try and second-guess which of the Alan King quartet will be the stable’s number one choice come Saturday.

There has also been money for Recession Proof who is into 10/1 (from 12/1) after John Quinn confirmed that the five-year-old would be lining up at Newbury.

“Apart from an initial rush of bets when the market first opened, Salden Licht had been left relatively untouched for the totesport Trophy but we’re just beginning to see some decent support and he could yet challenge Solix at the head of the betting,” said totesport spokesman George Primarolo.

Elsewhere, Jessie’s Dream has been understandably popular for the RSA Chase after being tipped up by Tom Segal in the Racing Post and has been cut to 8/1 (from 12/1) by totesport.

totesport Trophy – sponsors bet: 6 Solix, 7 (from 8) Salden Licht, 8 Walkon, 9 Final Approach, Get Me Out Of Here, 10 (from 12) Recession Proof, 12 Iolith, Notus de la Tour, Soldatino, 16 Eradicate, Ronaldo des Mottes, 20 Bothy, Nearby, Tiger O’Toole, 25 Drill Sergeant, Rebel Dancer, Sweet My Lord, Tarkari, The Betchworth Kid, Zanir, 33 Palomar, Stormy Weather, 40 Washington Irving, 66 Sircozy.

totesport Trophy Specials – sponsors bet: 7/2 Alan King to train winner, 4 Nicky Henderson to train winner, 16 Any horse to win totesport Trophy and Champion Hurdle.

Victor Chandler make the progressive Riverside Theatre their Even money favourite for Saturday’s Aon Chase at Newbury as nine entries were received for the Grade 2 event.
Victorchandler.com spokesperson Charlie McCann: “Champion trainer Paul Nicholls has saddled the winner in three of the last four years and he is represented by Sir Alex Ferguson’s What A Friend (5/4) and Noland (12/1) who must put behind a poor run at Cheltenham last time. Riverside Theatre appeared to get the 3m at Kempton last time and in receipt of 4lbs looks a worthy favourite.”

Henderson Duo Supported For Totesport Trophy

William Hill report further support for the Nicky Henderson pairing in Saturday’s Totesport Trophy at Newbury, shifting Solix into 7-1 joint favouritism (from 8-1) and going 10-1 from 12-1 about Soldatino. The race was won last year by Get Me Out Of Here.

The new joint market leader will be making his first start for the yard, and indeed in this country, whereas Triumph Hurdle winner Soldatino will be aiming to improve on his Ascot reappearance when behind Tiger O’Toole and Walkon (7-1 jnt-fav).

Lucy Rhodes, spokeswoman for William Hill, said, ‘The unexposed Henderson duo have been extremely popular selections ever since we priced up the Newbury showpiece – Solix the most intriguing as he brings above-average French form to the plate, and who knows how good he may become’.

Totesport Trophy: 7-1 Solix, Walkon, 8-1 Final Approach, Get Me Out Of Here, Salden Licht, 10-1 Soldatino, 12-1 Call The Police, Iolith, Notus De La Tour, Recession Proof, 16-1 Alaivan, Bothy, Eradicate, Ronaldo Des Mottes, Sweet My Lord, 20-1 James De Vassy, Overturn, Palomar, Prima Vista, Tanks For That, The Betchworth Kid, Tiger O’Toole, 25-1 BAR (EW 1/4 1,2,3,4)

Salden Licht and Final Approach among favourites as 56 entered for totesport Trophy

Newbury

A total of 56 horses have been entered for this year’s totesport Trophy at Newbury and the sponsors have made Final Approach, Salden Licht, Soldatino and Tocca Ferro the 12/1 co-favourites of four.

Salden Licht has been highly-touted for this race after an impressive success at Exeter recently whilst Final Approach ran out the ready winner of the MCR Hurdle at Leopardstown last weekend. Soldatino hasn’t been seen since winning the JCB Triumph Hurdle at Cheltenham last season and Tocca Ferro is on a hat-trick after easily landing the odds at Ascot back in November.

Last year’s winner Get Me Out Of Here is next in the market at 14/1 alongside a host of runners including Paul Nicholls’ Escort’men and Grade 1 winner and 2009 Triumph Hurdle runner-up Walkon.

“It looks another devilishly competitive renewal of the totesport Trophy and we can’t split four of them at the head of the market though Salden Licht looks sure to be popular after going in many a notebook after winning at Exeter recently,” said totesport spokesman George Primarolo.

Imperial Commander heads the market at 7/2 with the sponsors for the totesport Cheltenham Gold Cup after 34 entries were revealed for the highlight of the fourth and final day of the Festival which will carry record prize money of £500,000 for the first time this year.

Other interesting entries include Welsh National winner Synchronised who is a 40/1 shot with the sponsors and Rebecca Curtis’ Irish import Carronhills who has only raced in point-to-points and hunter chases so far and is the 150/1 outsider.

“Whereas the totesport Gold Cup looked a two horse race this time last year, the betting has a more open look about it this year and Imperial Commander goes into this year’s renewal as the market leader,” said totesport spokesman George Primarolo.

“However, both Kauto Star and Denman will be vying to wrestle back the crown from the reigning champion whilst the likes of Diamond Harry and Pandorama are the young pretenders trying to establish themselves at the top of the chasing tree.”

Charlie McCann’s Weekend Betting Preview

Denman bids to make history by becoming the first horse to win the Hennessy Gold Cup three times this afternoon and the former Gold Cup winner is a worthy favourite despite being 8lb higher in the weights than last year when he beat stablemate What A Friend. This year Paul Nicholls has five in the race and StanJames.com bet 9/4 that one of the five hits the target.

Cheltenham Festival 2010

Denman - shock fall , hope for better

Arkle himself couldn’t win three Hennessy Gold Cups but only five of Denman’s 17 opponents are in the handicap. Sam Thomas who rode the ten-year-old to win his first Hennessy in 2007 and his Gold Cup success the following year regains the ride following the injury to Ruby Walsh who was last year’s successful pilot. His quick nimble jumping is likely to have many of his rivals in trouble from some way out, but I take a chance with Irish challenger Pandorama (3.05) despite the fact that he is 8lbs “wrong” in the weights.

The only horse to beat Pandorama to date is the brilliant but fragile Mikael D’Haguenet (more of him later) and the seven-year-old is unbeaten in three starts over fences including the Grade 1 Novice chase at Leopardstown when last seen back in December. The runner up on that occasion was the subsequent RSA Chase winner Weapon’s Amnesty so the form is rock solid and Pandorama gave every indication that he would be best served by going left-handed. His trainer has targeted a Grade 1 Chase over Xmas as his next possible objective and Noel Meade has never been one for calling geese swans. His lack of chasing experience is a cause for concern, but he will never carry the minimum weight again and he is given the vote in a wonderful renewal.

The StanJames.com Fighting Fifth Hurdle has been hastily rearranged from snowbound Newcastle who abandoned on Thursday afternoon. The forecast heavy ground at Newcastle wouldn’t have suited the Champion Hurdler Binocular (12. 25) but he should be more at home at Newbury where the good to soft ground should be ideal. Donald McCain’s Peddlers Cross won the Neptune Novices’ Hurdle at the Festival earlier in the year but he will have his work cut out against Binocular although the Champion is sure to come on for his seasonal reappearance.

On the flat at Kempton Man Of Iron was a winner at the Breeders’ Cup in Santa Anita last year but has largely disappointed since and preference is for the progressive Dreamspeed (3.50) who finished 3rd in a decent Group 3 at Newbury on turf last time. His ability to handle the artificial surface must be taken on trust but he is taken to score from Nideeb who landed a similar contest over 10f last week at Lingfield. If he stays he will be a threat to all.

Fairyhouse stage a cracking card tomorrow with no less than three Grade 1 contests including the Grade 1 Drinmore Novice chase which sees the reappearance of Mikael D’Haguenet (1.50) after a 576 day lay-off. I have always considered the horse a potential Gold Cup winner and if that is the case he must go close. He was beaten in a chase in France as a four-year-old so does have some experience of the larger obstacles.

Solwhit is the one to beat half an hour later but I am a massive Hurricane Fly fan and was staggered when the horse met with defeat on his seasonal reappearance (at the hands of Solwhit) last year. He showed when winning the Grade 1 Hurdle at Punchestown (gained his revenge on Solwhit albeit by only a neck) that he is a top class hurdler and, although he lacks the race fitness of the likely favourite, his class can prevail.

Zaidpour (1.15) was hugely impressive at Punchestown on his hurdle debut and he is taken to give Willie Mullins another Grade 1 success in the Royal Bond Novice Hurdle and land the weekend nap.

Denman faces 18 rivals in the Hennessy Gold Cup at Newbury

Denman faces 18 rivals in the Hennessy Gold Cup at Newbury on Saturday – with China Rock a surprise acceptor as The Tank goes for a third successive Hennessy Gold Cup. He is now the 7/2 Favourite.

Denman

Mouse Morris’ charge was on Wednesday ruled out of the contest after a minor setback but Rare Bob is the only defector at the final declaration stage. Nicky Henderson has declared Barbers Shop who Andrew Tinkler will ride with Barry Geraghty switching to China Rock. The presence of Denman as top-weight means on seven horses are in the handicap proper on Saturday.

Sam Thomas as expected will ride Denman. He partnered him to victory in the 2008 Gold Cup at Cheltenham.

Newbury Kicks Off a Cold But Quality Weekend

The Hennessy meeting kicks of down at Newbury today whilst Newcastle’s Fighting Fifth Hurdle almost certainly will be called off on Saturday, with the track under a fresh snow fall.

Free Horseracing Tips

Snow Snow Go Away!

So today at Newbury, I have my eye on a couple today and certainly there are a few pointers for later in the year. We should have a winner or two today as well….

1:00 Newbury Line Freedom, Win. Nicky Henderson’s mare showed a decent level of form in bumpers and gave every indication that she would appreciate this longer trip when staying on well to win at Towcester first time over hurdles at the beginning of the month.

2:10 Newbury, Zarrafakt Win, This one faces no easy task under his penalty for his Folkestone win and a better bet looks to be another last time out winner, he bolted up last time and there looks much more to come. Could be a good horse this.

The Best Race Of The Day…

3:15 Newbury Tell Massini, Win. Tell massini  was the best of these over hurdles and won well at Stratford last month on his chasing debut; he can follow up here. I think this is a very exciting recruit to chasing and I am very keen to see how he gets on here, he should win and go on to bigger and better contests later.

Denman shortens as twenty left in Hennessy

Denman heads twenty horses that have been left in the Hennessy Gold Cup at the latest forfeit stage and totesport have shortened him slightly at the head of the market at 7/2 (from 4/1).

Free Horseracing Tips

Denman

Champion trainer Paul Nicholls has also left in Neptune Collonges, Taranis, The Tother One and Niche Market but it is Weird Al who is likely to be Denman’s main rival in the market and Ian Williams’ gelding is currently a 5/1 shot.

‘After big-race victories for Kauto Star and Imperial Commander in recent weeks, the spotlight is now on Denman as he aims to win the Hennessy for an historic third time and we’re bracing ourselves for a wholesale gamble similar to the one seen twelve months ago,’ said totesport spokesman George Primarolo.

A total of seven horses have been entered for Saturday’s Stan James Fighting Fifth Hurdle at Newcastle and totesport make reigning Champion Hurdler Binocular the 5/6 favourite.

The race will also see the much-anticipated return of Peddlers Cross who is next in the market at 7/2. Starluck is an 11/2 shot with Nearby next at 12/1.

Over at Kempton, Bobs Worth made a successful hurdling debut for Nicky Henderson in the EBF ‘National Hunt’ Novice Hurdle this afternoon and has been introduced at 25/1 by totesport for the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle.
