The best action of the day on Sunday was in Ireland at Leopardstown which has been abandoned due to heavy rain. The Irish Hennessey Gold Cup card has been lost to the weather, a huge shame!
As far as the UK is concerned we have Fontwell and Musselburgh, both over the jumps. There are plenty of new names of late joining the training ranks and one of those is Gary Brown who saddles Ilewin Tom (1:50) at Fontwell. This should be a winner despite the 7 pounds penalty for his win last time out.
Captain Kirkton (2:20) should make quick work of the field and justify his short price. Beaten only a head by previous winner Mintiverdi on his debut in a bumper, Captain Kirkton trounced the opposition on last month’s hurdling bow at Lingfield. Gary Moore’s charge looks a decent hurdler in the making and can take this before going on to better things.
Nicky Henderson is the man to follow at Musselburgh and he could easily come back with a treble.
Good luck.
