Could Red Bull win it as they did in 2009? Sebastian Vettel is the man the Brits will have to beat at Silverstone on Sunday. Read more in the Telegraph.

British Grand Prix Stats;

Lap: 5.891 km. Race distance: 306.747 km (52 laps).

Race lap record: Michael Schumacher (Germany) Ferrari 1:18.739 (2004) NOTE: The track has been reconfigured and lengthened by around 750 metres since last year.

2009 pole position: Sebastian Vettel (Germany) Red Bull 1:19.509.

2009 Winner – Sebastian Vettel (Germany) Red Bull

Vettel ran away with a processional race in a Red Bull one-two, lapping more than a second faster than rivals in the early stages after starting on pole.

In the run up to this weekend’s British Grand Prix, William Hill have seen a number of large bets for either Red Bull driver to start on pole, these bets include a five figure wager. As a result Hills offer 4/7 that a Red Bull car will be at the front of the grid come Sunday and 6/4 that it is a McClaren. Hills are offering 7/1 that we have a British 1-2, Hamilton is 3/1 to win his home GP and Jenson Button is 13/2.

“All the money has been on Red Bull to dominate qualifying, but interestingly enough, the Brits are are well backed to win the main event,” said Hills spokesman Joe Crilly.

William Hill Formula 1 Odds:

Winning Qualifying Constructor: 4/7 Red Bull; 6/4 McLaren; 11/2 Ferrari; 25/1 Mercedes GP; 28/1 Renault; 100/1 Williams

British GP Qualifying: 13/8 Vettel; 5/2 Hamilton; 3/1 Webber; 8/1 Button; 9/1 Alonso; 20/1 Massa; 33/1 Kubica; 40/1 Rosberg

British GP Outright: 11/5 Vettel; 3/1 Hamilton; 4/1 Webber; 5/1 Alonso; 13/2 Button; 16/1 Massa; 25/1 Kubica; 40/1 Rosberg

40/1 Either McLaren Driver To Cause team-mate to retire

40/1 Either Red Bull To Be Taken Out By Team-mate

Hamilton/Button Dual Forecast: 7/1

Jenson Button secured his second victory of the season as he led a McLaren one-two ahead of Lewis Hamilton at an incident-packed Chinese Grand Prix today.

The reigning world champion had started fifth on the grid but profited from an early safety car deployment and a flurry of early pit stops by the leading pack due to rain to move into pole early on.

Hamilton, meanwhile, had started sixth but once again drove superbly to secure his best finish of the season while Mercedes’ Nico Rosberg took third for the fourth podium finish of his career.

The result means Button now leads the drivers’ standings and also marked McLaren’s first one-two of the season.

Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso, who had surged into the lead on the first lap but was handed a drive-through penalty for jumping the start, secured fourth with Renault’s Robert Kubica fifth.

Pole-winner Sebastian Vettel failed to follow up his Malaysian Grand Prix victory as the Red Bull driver finished sixth while Renault’s Vitaly Petrov secured his first points of the season with seventh place.

Vettel’s team-mate Mark Webber endured a race to forget as he took eighth while Ferrari’s Felipe Massa and Michael Schumacher of Mercedes completed the top 10.

Like in his victory in Australia, Button made the correct call on tyres after showers had fallen at the start of the race with the 30-year-old having opted to stay on the slicks while others pitted for intermediates.

“This victory is special and means a lot,” said Button. “It is not just about being quick it is also about reading the conditions.

“The tricky conditions have helped me but it was not luck we came out on top today, we chose correctly.

“My first few months with the team have been extraordinary and I really feel part of the team.”

A dramatic start set the tone for the rest of the race as Alonso, who had started from third, surged ahead of the Red Bulls before turn one but replays later showed that he had jumped the start and the Spaniard was consequently handed a drive-through penalty by race stewards.

The safety car was also deployed before the end of lap one when the Force India of Vitantonio Liuzzi spun into Sebastien Buemi’s Toro Rosso and Sauber’s Kamui Kobayashi, ending all three drivers’ races.

With the rain getting heavier, many drivers chose to make a quick stop in the pits to switch tyres before the safety car left the circuit after the third lap – but Button opted to stay out on his slicks.

Pole-sitter Vettel had dropped to 15th while Hamilton was 16th after six laps following their pit stops, but both were quickly making their way back up the field. Alonso had also headed down the pit lane for his drive-through penalty and re-emerged in 16th.
<img src="http://serve.williamhill.com/promoLoadDisplay?member=telewin&campaign=DEFAULT&channel=DEFAULT&zone=790291856&lp=0" width="300" height="250"border=0/>

Hamilton was soon closing in on Schumacher, who had started from ninth on the grid, and was right on the German’s tail after 15 laps, waiting for any opportunity to overtake, and one presented itself on lap 17 as a superb drive out of turn 13 by the 25-year-old allowed him to climb into fifth.

Button became the new race leader two laps later when Rosberg briefly ran wide, allowing the reigning world champion to move into first. He then entered the pits again on lap 21 and was quickly followed by Webber, Hamilton and Vettel.

Meanwhile, Toro Rosso’s Jaime Alguersuari lost his front wing when he entered the pit lane before the safety car was again deployed, seemingly to allow for the debris from that incident to be cleared.

That played into Hamilton’s favour as it enabled the 25-year-old to close the gap on the leading cars while Alonso was in 10th – just ahead of Massa, having earlier cheekily overtaken his team-mate on their way into the pits.

The safety car left the circuit on lap 26 and immediately Schumacher and Hamilton were battling again before the 2008 champion regained fifth with a brave move on turn eight. He then got the better of Petrov for fourth with just Kubica, Rosberg and Button ahead of him.

Hamilton then climbed into the podium places after lap 30 as he passed Kubica on the outside at the hairpin while Button and Rosberg – first and second respectively – entered the pits to switch to intermediates on lap 38.

Button retained his place at the front when he returned to the circuit but Rosberg was back out in third, behind Hamilton.

From then on the pair remained unchallenged and though Hamilton was closing in on Button, in the end he ran out of laps as he crossed the finish line just 1.5seconds behind his team-mate.

“I had quite an eventful race,” said Hamilton. “Congratulations to Jenson, he did an incredible job and made a better choice on tyres.

“It was tough at the beginning, the weather was not easy for making the call to change tyres. I chose very late when I was halfway around the corner and clearly it was not the right choice.

“We both did a tremendous job, and it’s down to the awesome job the team are doing. We are working very well and it’s great for the team.”

Lewis Hamilton led a McLaren one-two ahead of team-mate Jenson Button by setting the fastest lap in Friday’s rain-interrupted second session of free practice for this weekend’s Australian Grand Prix.

While the first practice session had been held during bright sunshine, clouds had gathered as the afternoon progressed and by the time the cars took to the circuit once again rain had started to fall intermittently.

But Hamilton got the better of the conditions to produce the fastest lap of the day with a time of one minute 25.801 seconds that put him ahead of reigning world champion Button by 0.275secs.

It is all a far cry from a year ago, when the team were languishing at the back of the pack following a wretched pre-season. But, after new team-mate Jenson Button was quickest at the end of the two tests in Jerez, Lewis Hamilton finished at the top of the timesheets come the conclusion of the final test in Barcelona on Sunday.

Following the end of testing the odds suggest that four of the constructors are in with a chance this year with Ferrari the 7/4 favourite, followed by Mclaren at 11/5. Michael Schumacher is 9/2 to win the drivers championship and his team Mercedes is 4/1 to win the constructors. Lewis Hamilton is 7/2 to win the Drivers, ahead of team-mate Jenson Button who is a 10/1 shot.

“Michael Schumacher is by far the best backed driver to win the championships at 9/2 but the odds suggest that Alonso is the man to beat,” said Hill’s spokesman Rupert Adams.

William Hill Formula One:

Constructors: 7/4 Ferrari, 11/5 McLaren, 3/1 Red Bull, 4/1 Mercedes GP, 33/1 Bar

Drivers Championship: 11/4 Alonso, 7/2 Hamilton, 4/1 Vettel, 9/2 Schumacher, 8/1 Massa, 10/1 Button, 14/1 Webber, 20/1 Bar

Match Bet: 1/3 Lewis Hamilton, 9/4 Jenson Button

The rebranded Mercedes Grand Prix will continue talks with Formula One world champion Jenson Button over a new deal for the 2010 season despite speculation the buy-out might mean a move towards an all-German driver line-up.

The German manufacturer will buy 75.1% of Brawn GP in partnership with an Abu Dhabi investment company, with the team to be rebranded as Mercedes Grand Prix. Button remains in contract talks over a new deal and, while chief executive Nick Fry – who will remain in his role – said he and team principal Brawn would prefer Button to remain, he admitted financial constraints may prevent that.
William Hill are now odds on at 1/2 that Jenson Button will be driving for Mclaren next year, but it is not all good news for Jernson as Hills make Hamilton their hot favourite to outscore his potential teammate.

“Jenson is in a difficult position as he is likely to be number two driver if, as expected, he joins McLaren,” said Hill’s spokesman Rupert Adams.

British driver Jenson Button has won the Formula One world championship after finishing fifth in the Brazilian Grand Prix.

The 29-year-old is the 10th British driver to claim the prize, inheriting the crown from last year’s winner, Brit Lewis Hamilton.

We were on- were you? If you took our advice in April to back Jenson Button to be World Champion then you landed a nice win today! Brawn F1 are also World Champions, a British Driver and a British Team are F1 World Champions. The team were down and out before the season and now they are top of the world, it would make a great film!

Its brilliant and all the better when we made a few quid! What a great formula one season it has been! The moment he crossed the line….

British Grand Prix 22nd June 2009- Silverstone- Live on BBC 1

Can Jenson Button win the British Grand prix? He has won 6 out of 7 so far this season for his Brawn GP team and is 4/6 favourite to do so again at Silverstone on Sunday.

Will Button win at Silverstone?

The early odds are (from Bet365)

Jenson Button 4/6

Sebastian Vettel 2/1

Felipe Massa 28/1

Rubens Ba’ello 7/1

Kimi Raikkonen 25/1

Mark Webber 17/2

Fernando Alonso 66/1

Lewis Hamilton 33/1

Jarno Trulli 28/1 25/1

Timo Glock 50/1 33/1

Nico Rosberg 50/1

Robert Kubica 66/1

Bar 200/1+

A shadow will be cast over the race as FOTA have announced that they are pulling out of Formula One to set up their own rival championships. It is a shame because this is a big race for the UK and for Brawn GP as well as world championship leader Jenson Button.

Nico Rossburg preview the Silverstone Grand Prix- from Youtube

There is no value in backing Button at this stage, but we think Jenson Button will win and we support the British Driver to win the British Grand Prix at Silverstone.

Jenson Button Wins his sixth race of the Season… 6/4 Gamble Landed!

Brawn Win Again!

You can not say that we did not give you the best advice for the race. Just look at the advice we gave you…not just the winner but more winning bets besides!

Neil Connoly gave you three sensational bets:-

Back Button to win at 2.46 on Betfair

Back No Safety Car on Betfair at 1.72

Back Button to be first lap leader at 3.95

All three bets were landed as Button hit the front in Lap one and never looked back, winning alone.

Carl Harris told you earlier in the week to get on Button early at 6/4 for the value, which was duly landed.

Its Job Done again for Racing Diary who just keep giving you winners- Football, Racing and Formula One. Racing Diary really is the punters choice!
