The Hitman

Free Horseracing Tips on Saturday from The Hitman.

The big meeting is at Sandown on Saturday with a high quality jumps card. There is also the Welsh Champion Hurdle at Ffos Las with supporting cards at Wetherby (jumps) and a flat all-weather fixture at Lingfield. The Hitman has all your free horseracing tips and analysis of the big action for Saturday……

Binocular (1:55 Sandown) has scared off any serious challenge and should win as he likes under AP McCoy. He won this on the way to the Champion Hurdle and we will not learn much if anything here. It is good to see that the Champion Hurdle winner in action, but he will do more at home!

Binocular Can win easily at Sandown

Medermit (2:25) is the interesting runner in the Chellenger’s Novice Chase who will face a stiff challenge for some pretty unexposed chasers. He is the highest rated of these with a mark of 155 but the improver and one I side with is Rock Noir in the McManus colours, Rock Noir has progressed niceley but this is a proper test and I am of the view he will be more than up to it!

Lush Life (3:00) is favourite for the Heroes Handicap Hurdle for the Nicky Henderson yard who certainly had a fantastic month in January. David Bass is given the task here and crucially takes off five pounds, which is a tight handicap is a shrewd move by Henderson.  He has won 3 of his last four starts and was in my book at least, impressive when winning at Cheltenham last time. Sandown is a stiff finish so we know he has the stamina to finish strongly.

Theatrical Moment (3:35) is one I think is due to run a big race at Sandown. AP McCoy rides for Jonjo O’Neil and this is a horse with bags of ability. 7 wins from 20 starts show that and fresh after a break, with conditions to suit I would suggest that Theatrical Moment is a rock solid each-way bet. Amateur ridden last time at Cheltenham I would ignore that completely and expect better today.

Oscar Whiskey (2:40) Ffos Las is as much of a non event as Binocular. The Ffos Las owner owns this one so no prizes as to why he runs here. On ratings he is miles clear and will like Binocular have done more had he stayed at Seven Barrows for a Saturday morning piece of work. It may be worth doubling up Binocular and Oscar Whiskey, even then it wont pay much!

Good Luck from the Hitman!

Thursday Horseracing Preview

Free Horseracing Tips from Racing Diary….

Well yesterday I wrote, “Buckie Boy (1:45) is a Nicky Henderson newcomer who has been the subject of some good reports” but still went off at 11-2, and won well. Obviously our source is more exclusive than I thought! Master of the Hall (2/1) made it a double for Henderson and two out of three for Racing Diary. A very good day.

Tony McCoy- rides for Nicky Henderson

On Thursday we have jump racing at Ffos Las and Warwick with flat racing at Southwell and Kempton. Ffos Las is a very nice course and the cards are usually of the highest quality.

Paul Nicholls introduces Rangitoto (1:50) who is already a short price. The word is out it seems but I hear this is one that the Ditcheat team are very keen on. I don’t like backing newcomers at short prices, I prefer 11-2 to be fair !! However this is one that based on reports should win on debut. Nicky Henderson should have a winner at Ffos Las but at a ridiculous price, but the Seven Barrows wagon keeps on rolling!

At Warwick Nicky Henderson has booked Tony McCoy to ride First In The Queue (1:10) who makes his debut and is one I think should win. There is no doubt that Henderson has some highly talented horses and takes on a horse that ran well on debut. This is my bet of the day, a jockey and a trainer in form.

Good Luck

Wednesdays Free Horseracing Tips, 20 October

The days are going pretty quick, it is Wednesday already as we look forward to another weekend of racing. It is getting cold which means winter is on the way and the National Hunt season.

Wednesday’s cards are not what you would call thrilling but we have plenty to look forward to with the Racing Post Trophy and the first big Saturday meeting of the jumps season at Aintree. Today’s free horseracing tips from racing diary…

4:45 Ffos Las Pastoral Player has nowhere near as many wins to his name as he should for a horse of his ability but he can add another in the HM Plant Hitachi Handicap at Ffos Las. Hughie Morrison’s three-year-old has bags of talent, but can be his own worst enemy with his antics at the start. However, he has invariably plied his trade in good company and rarely is he disgraced. His latest effort again did not go smoothly from the stalls but he was not far away in ninth in a what looked a solid handicap at Doncaster, beaten less than four lengths. Now on a mark of 92, a rating from which he pushed Mister Hughie to a neck at the start of the campaign, he can get seriously involved here if things go right on what represents a drop in grade.

I think a note of caution should be issued, it is going to rain, heavily in some parts of the UK which will have an effect on the ground, especially if it falls on watered ground. That should help ease the hosepipe ban fears that are surfacing. Free Horseracing Tips

3:50 Ffos Las, Lady Eclair, Win (NAP). She just keeps on winning Lady Eclair! I love this filly. Lady Eclair can continue the terrific run of the Mark Johnston stable who can do no wrong at present. He had a big race handicap double at Newmarket with St Moritz and Sea Lord (Amy Ryan), he also won the Bahrain Trophy with Corsica who was give a great ride by Frankie Dettori. Lady Eclair has a pretty similar profile to Corsica in that she has been on the go a very long time but there seems to be no sign of her progression stopping. Mark Johnston had her entered in a Listed race at Leopardstown which gives a good deal of confidence that she is considered good enough to win another handicap off her current rating.

2:50 Ffos Las, Cockney, Win. Before Lady Eclair the Mark Johnston team should land a winner with Cockney who has gone close three times. In this five runner field Cockney must have a great chance of adding a one to his three two’s by his name. As Said above the Johnston yard is flying and this should be another winner in the familiar green and red and colours. Joe Fanning is in great form too so in a tight race, Cockney should win!

Good Luck, on Monday with our free horseracing tips.

Wednesdays Free Horseracing Tips, 26 May

Another busy day on Wednesday with the big two year-old being the Hilary Needler Trophy at Beverley. It is always a great night at Beverley on Hilary Needler night. Your Free Horseracing Tips for Wednesday, today are by Chris Wilson, Press Association Sport Staff.

Free Horseracing Tips for Wednesday

7:30 Beverley Geesala can provide Kevin Ryan with a second Hilary Needler Trophy at Beverley on Wednesday. The Hambleton handler won this historic Listed race four years ago with Roxan, and looks to have a similarly flashy filly with which to go to war. Despite the wide-open nature of this year’s renewal, Geesala has the best form in the book. A resilient winner on her debut at Pontefract, she was always destined for a step up in class, which duly followed at York. Her redoubtable fourth in the Listed Marygate Stakes on the Knavesmire – always an important early-season fillies’ heat – is therefore significant. She perhaps lacked the gears of the major players that day, but was staying on with real panache at the finish to suggest a step-up to six furlongs will soon be forthcoming. Given the demanding nature of Beverley’s uphill incline, Geesala’s stamina could hold the key to winning this five-furlong affair.

8:00 Beverley Coolminx should also be followed with interest in the Weatherbys Bloodstock Insurance Conditions Stakes. Richard Fahey’s filly is already a winner on the Westwood, and signed off her juvenile campaign with a brave second in the Listed Rockingham Stakes at York. Reported to have strengthened immeasurably during the winter, she is talented enough to defy a long absence in this five-furlong challenge.

2:30 Ffos Las Marlinka. Roger Charlton’s string continue to tick along nicely and the Beckhampton handler can chalk up another success with Marlinka, who runs at Ffos Las. The Marju filly – out of a half-sister to Soviet Song – was denied by a head on her debut at Windsor and, with that sighter in the bag, is open to any amount of experience. Charlton will be disappointed if she is not good enough to take the EBF/Free Racing With oddschecker.com Wednesday Maiden Stakes.

4:45 Ffos Las Shamali is a confident selection in the HM Plant Hitachi Handicap. William Haggas’ five-year-old must give weight away to each of his five rivals, but has enough class to clinically offset that burden. Shamali signed off last season with a breathless double at Ascot, and lost little in defeat on his return at Newmarket where he finished sixth in the Suffolk Stakes. He should remain competitive off a mark of 100, and will be far sharper than on his seasonal bow at Headquarters.

3:15 Ayr Whipma Whopma Gate can gain a deserved second win of the term at Ayr. Although the handicapper refuses to relent, she showed her well-being at Nottingham last time with a fine second behind Four Kicks. Despite having only won races with cut in the ground, she is versatile enough to comfortably handle the fast conditions in Scotland.

We will shortly know if Denman will run at Cheltenham on Saturday. It will be a great card and I really hope he does turn up. You can follow the build-up to the Cheltenham Gold Cup on Facebook.

Thursdays cards come from Warwick and Ffos Las over jumps and Southwell and Kempton on the flat. The cards are not bad at all and our friend Noun De la Thinte runs again, could she win again?

4:00 Warwick, Noun De La Thinte- Win. Five wins on the bounce and she showed no signs of stopping last time out, when we were on. She had a penalty that day but escapes a further penalty as that was a lads race. I think she will win again and if the layers are taking her on then they will be sorry! She owes us nothing and I think she will defy the weight again.

3:05 Ffos Las- Caroles Legacy- Win. The Nicky Henderson yard has hit a brick wall at the moment but surely Caroles legacy can take this race. She is a highly progressive mare who looks high class over fences and for me will take a world of beating despite having to give weight to her rivals. Lets hope the stable form is just a blip. For me she is a very good bet.

Carl Harris’ Best Bets for Thursday 28 January

  • 3:05 Ffos Las- Caroles Legacy- Win
  • 4:00 Warwick, Noun De La Thinte- Win

Tolworth Will Be Run at Ffos Las, Weather Permitting

FFOS LAS will stage the Blue Square Tolworth Hurdle, which was due to be run last Saturday at Sandown.

Sandown’s meeting was abandoned due to the icy weather that is gripping the country, but Ffos Las has stepped in to stage the Grade 1 contest, on a card that also features the SIS Live Welsh Champion Hurdle, with defending Smurfit Kappa Champion Hurdle winner, Punjabi, one of 12 entered. Henderson could also saddle leading fancy for the Tolworth, the unbeaten Oscar Whisky, and the five-year-old is owned by Ffos Las founder Dai Walters.

Nicky Henderson could land the big one

Colin Owens, general manager of Ffos Las racecourse, said: “We are serving up a real feast of jump racing on Saturday. It will be fantastic not only for everyone who comes to the racecourse but also those watching Channel 4 Racing. All we need now is a little bit of luck with the weather.”

Clerk of the course, Tim Long, reinforced the view of Owens that Saturday’s meeting will hopefully beat the weather, he said on Tuesday: “We have had some snow today, but it’s thawed and we just have odd bits in places on the course.

“Having the snow is nobad thing at the moment as it offers some protection to the course, we just need temperatures to get up tomorrow [Wednesday] like they have today [Tuesday] so we can clear it.

“It’s forecast to get up to +3c on Wednesday so we’rehopeful of getting the snow cleared then sheeting down either last thing, or on Thursday.”

Long added: “We’re all but raceable on the hurdles course, there’s a couple of patches of frost on the chase course but we still havea fair chance of racing on Saturday and are doing everything we can.”

The big question of the day is will racing go ahead at Ffos Las? We have not had any jumps racing for a few days, making do with the all-weather stuff.

Though it is not my favourite racing, there are occasionally good bets to be struck, but when you focus on the jumps this weather is a nightmare.

It looks good on the Christmas cards though! Only a few days left to get some money in the Christmas kitty, but in fairness we have done well and should have a decent few quid with which to be merry.

I will once again focus on the jumps and the forecast looks good for Ffos Las, but it would be no surprise to see this meeting fall. Lets hope for decent temperatures in Wales on Monday. I have a back up on the all-weather should things go pear shaped!

15:05 Kempton, Sircozy- Win. We were on last time and the horse was nearly given too much to do. Kempton will suit this horse very well and can defy a seven pounds rise in the weights. If the price is prohibitive then I would happily leave it, but I think the layers may be out to get him. I think he will win again, but much will depend on the ride he gets, but I think he is still on a decent mark.

14:10 Ffos Las, The Jigsaw Man- Win. A prolific winner in novice company The Jigsaw Man looks an interesting prospect. Rebecca Curtis must be happy with the mark of 128 allotted to her charge and has cannily booked Donald Devereux to take off five pounds a jockey well worth his claim. I think at the weights he has a huge chance of scoring again, having won four times in his last five starts. I think this is a very good bet, my best of the day.

Another day of Jumping or not?

15:45 Ffos Las, Wallace Monument- Win. We can’t go jumps racing these days without a punt on one of Nicky Henderson’s horses. The stable is flying at present and I think he will have yet another bumper winner in the closing race of the day with Wallace Monument who was a game winner last time out Ludlow. He will have learnt a lot last time and can put that to good use today.

Carl Harris’ Best Bets for Monday 21 December

  • 15:45 Ffos Las, Wallace Monument- Win
  • 15:05 Kempton, Sircozy- Win
  • 14:10 Ffos Las, The Jigsaw Man- Win

After the flat season and the Breeders’ Cup our next few months will be occupied by jumps and all-weather racing. It has been a truly excellent flat season with one horse taking all the headlines, this was the year of Sea The Stars, a horse we will talk about for decades to come. Now we start the build-up to the Cheltenham Festival, which is always well worth waiting for. I think we will see a Cheltenham runner at Ffos Las today.

1:10 Ffos Las- Get Me Out Of Here, Win (NAP)

Get Me Out Of Here (13:10) was due to run at Stratford last week, but was pulled out, much to my disappointment, however now he is out again I can recycle my copy which is just as accurate today, assuming he actually turns up this time. Get Me Out Of Here was a very easy winner on his hurdles debut four weeks ago over hurdles. He has a seriously good engine and looks an excellent prospect. Having won last time by eight lengths, having watched the race, I am of the view he could have won by much further and I rate this horse as being seriously good and as such I think is worth a sizeable wager, if the price is right. Get Me Out Of Here has AP McCoy in the saddle riding for Jonjo O’Neil and is my bet of the day.

Get Me Out Of Here is my only bet of the day.
