Sundays Free Horseracing Tips, 3 October

I guess Sunday is all about Longchamp, was it not for the big race of the year then it would be a day off. Huntingdon Kelso and Uttoxeter holds little appeal to be honest, a true sign that National Hunt racing is well underway. So who will win the Arc?

Free Horseracing Tips

Goldikova- magnificent

There is some great racing at Longchamp today with plenty of group one races. We start with the group 1 Prix de L’abbaye de Longchamp (12:35) , a very valuable sprint which I think can go to the improving Swiss Diva. She has course and distance winning form and I think is a real solid bet here to win despite having been overtaken as favourite in the ante-post market by Lady Of the Desert through one a group to at Ascot last time out. Swiss Diva will handle the ground and the course and though this is competitive this is my best bet of the day.

totesport.com

I think Wotton Bassett has a huge chance of landing a group 1 here at Longchamp (1:45) but will have to beat King Torus to do so. Richard Hannon’s colt as a group to win to his name but Wootton Bassett is a very speedy sort who has been pot hunting in the sales racers and comes here with a four race unbeaten run and a very healthy bank account. I hope he does it and London nightspot for the Richard Fahey team.

Goldikova (2:20) could land another group 1 despite being below par last time when beaten by 2000 Guineas winner Makfi. Despite that she showed her class by finishing in front of Paco Boy and I think can do so again. This is a wonderful man who has class in abundance and will go from here for a third successive win attempt at the Breeders Cup next month.

So, the big one, the Arc. A very tough race to say the least, one of course last year by Sea the Stars, with Youmzain (3:05) second yet again. I will risk an each way bet on Mick Channon’s consistent horse in his last race. Wouldn’t it be fitting if he was to win the race in which he has been denied by Dylan Thomas, Zarkarva and Sea the Stars in the last three years. There would be no bigger deserved win this year in any race, so I will stick with Youmzain.

Good look enjoyed a great day of racing!

Fame and Glory Takes Coronation Cup

Fame And Glory gave Aidan O’Brien another Coronation Cup win at Epsom with a big win under Johnny Murtagh.

Free Horseracing Tips

Aidan O'Brien wins again

The four-year-old, sent off the 5-6 favourite having finished second to Sea The Stars in the Derby here 12 months ago, was handily placed throughout as his stablemate Dixie Music cut out the early running.

Were you on?

Fame And Glory may head to Royal Ascot for further riches after providing Aidan O’Brien with his fourth Investec Coronation Cup. Although the colt has now been seen out four times already this term, O’Brien was not ruling out a tilt at the Prince Of Wales’s Stakes after a commendable performance.

Henry Cecil To Take a Ninth Oaks Crown….

Free Horseracing Tips

By Carl Harris

The Oaks and Coronation Cup are the big races of the day at Epsom on Friday. This is truly great day and Henry Cecil holds a strong hand in the fillies Classic with Aviate and Timepiece.  Can Henry Cecil make it a ninth Oaks at Epsom?

Carl Harris has your free horseracing tips on Investec Oaks day….

Henry Cecil is one of the best trainers of all time, but stands head and shoulders above everyone when it comes to training fillies. In Friday’s Investec Oaks he saddles favourite Aviate and Timepiece.

Free Horseracing Tips

Henry Cecil to make it nine?

4:05 Epsom Aviate.  Tom Queally has elected to ride Aviate and as we told you when she ran first time out this season, she is a very good filly. We were on her at York in the Musidora when she got up despite traffic problems, showing that the trip ought to suit, stepping up to a mile and a half. I personally have backed Aviate, doing so after than debut run and I still think Avaite will win the Oaks for HRA Cecil and Tom Queally.

Investec Oaks: 9-2 Aviate, 5-1 Rumoush, 6-1 Sajjhaa, 13-2 Timepiece, 8-1 Remember When, 10-1 Akdarena, 14-1 Ceilidh House, Gertrude Bell, 16-1 Snow Fairy 20-1 Awe Inspiring, 25-1 Champagnelifestyle, 33-1 Cabaret, Marie De Medici, Meeznah, 66-1 Bikini Babe, 100-1 Lady Lupus (EW ¼ 1,2,3)

2:45 Epsom Fame and Glory. As we told you the other day Fame and Glory will take on Sariska in the Coronation Cup. As I said in that article I think Fame and Glory will confirm his high class status and beat last years Investec Oaks winner.

Fame and Glory is definitely a horse to follow this season and I am already interested in the 6-1 for the Arc in October. As far as today is concerned I think Fame and Glory will win this pretty readily.Though Sariska is a decent filly I think Fame and Glory is a much better horse. This is how he won The Irish Tattersalls Gold Cup….

Coronation Cup: Evens Fame And Glory, 9-4 Sariska, 7-1 Cavalryman, 8-1Youmzain, 10-1 Age of Aquarius, 12-1 High Heeled, Jukebox Jury, 33-1 Clowance, South Easter, Bashkirov, Dixie Music (EW 1/4 1,2,3)

So my free horseracing tips for Friday is Aviate to win the Investec Oaks and Fame and Glory to win the Coronation Cup. On Saturday we look forward to the Investec Derby where Johnny Murtagh has elected to ride Jan Vermeer.

Aviate Heads Oaks Declarations

Aviate heads market as 15 declared for Investec Oaks on Friday. Who will win?

Free Horseracing Tips

Aviate Oaks Favourite

A total of 15 fillies have been declared for Friday’s Investec Oaks and Epsom’s official betting partner totesport make Aviate the 9/2 favourite. She is trained by Henry Cecil, master trainer of the filly and partnered by the excellent Tom Queally.

Henry Cecil has trained eight winners of the fillies’ classic and is doubly represented in this year’s renewal. His other runner Timepiece (Eddie Ahern) is currently third in the market at 6/1 just behind second-favourite Rumoush at 5/1. Jim Bolger’s Akdarena has been cut into 8/1 (from 9/1) whilst Champagnelifestyle has also shortened to 20/1 (from 25/1).

‘Whereas the Derby betting has all been about one horse, we’ve seen a good spread of money on a number of fillies in the Oaks and it’s still impossible to say which one will go off favourite on Friday,’ said totesport spokesman George Primarolo.

A field of 10 has been declared for the Investec Coronation Cup and Fame And Glory heads the market with totesport at 11/10. Last year’s Oaks heroine Sariska is next in the betting at 9/4 with Cavalryman a 7/1 shot. totesport have made just the one change which sees Jukebox Jury clipped into 12/1 from 14/1. Fame and Glory should win in my view.

The odds…

Investec Coronation Cup - totesport bet: 11/10 Fame And Glory, 9/4 Sariska, 7 Cavalryman, 8 Youmzain, 12 (from 14) Jukebox Jury, 16 High Heeled, 33 South Easter, 40 Clowance, 100 Bashkirov, Dixie Music.

1/5 1-2-3.

Investec Oaks – totesport bet: 9/2 Aviate, 5 Rumoush, 6 Sajjhaa, Timepiece, 8 (from 9) Akdarena, Remember When, 12 Ceilidh House, Gertrude Bell, 14 Snow Fairy, 20 (from 25) Champagnelifestyle, 25 Awe Inspiring, 33 Cabaret, Marie de Medici, Meeznah, 66 Bikini Babe.

¼ 1-2-3

Investec Derby – totesport bet: 13/8 Jan Vermeer, 11/2 Workforce, 6 Bullet Train, Midas Touch, 8 Rewilding, 10 Cape Blanco, 12 Azmeel, 20 Coordinated Cut, 25 Al Zir, Ted Spread, 40 Buzzword, 50 Hot Prospect, 100 At First Sight, 150 Bright Horizon.

¼ 1-2-3. Non-runner, no bet.

Fame and Glory v Sariska

Fame and Glory, last years’s Investec Derby runner up will face last years Investec Oaks winner Sariska as they return to Epsom for the Corronation Cup on Friday.

Free Horseracing Tips

Sariska takes on Fame and Glory

In my view this is a better race than both the Oaks and Derby and I am really looking forward to seeing how Sariska gets on against Fame and Glory. Both won well last time out, with Sariska doing it nicely at York.

Fame and Glory Won the Tattersalls Gold Cup in Ireland last time out..watch this awesome performance….

The filly will get weight from the colt, but I think Fame and Glory will justify the short price. Youmzain is a decent horse too, second in the Arc a couple of times, he could spring a surprise. In my view though Fame and Glory will win.

Latest prices; Corronation Cup;

11/10 Fame And Glory, 2 Sariska, 7 Cavalryman, 8 Youmzain, 12 Jukebox Jury, 16 High Heeled, 25 South Easter, 33 Clowance, 100 Bahkirov, 100 Dixie Music, (1/5 odds 1,2,3)

Fame And Glory To Grace Royal Ascot

The Prince of Wales’s Stakes has emerged a fascinating option for Fame And Glory after his stroll in the Tattersalls Gold Cup at the Curragh. He now heads to Royal Ascot next month.

Royal Ascot Betting Tips

Fame and Glory trained by Aidan O'Brien

Last season’s Irish Derby winner was securing his third Group One on Sunday and is was assumed he next port of call would be the Coronation Cup at Epsom’s Derby meeting. However, Ballydoyle trainer Aidan O’Brien did mention that might come a little too soon, and the Royal Ascot race over 10 furlongs arrives nearly two weeks later in the calendar.

“Fame And Glory won nicely in the Tattersalls Gold Cup, he will probably go next to either the Coronation Cup at Epsom or the Prince of Wales’s Stakes at Royal Ascot,” reported O’Brien on www.coolmore.com.

O’Brien also had new of some other stable stars who ran at the Irish Guineas meeting.

“We were really pleased with Steinbeck’s run in the Guineas on Saturday, he came home very strongly and we expect him to improve from the run. We will aim him for the St James’s Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot,” he added.

“We were also delighted with Viscount Nelson’s run and he will probably be aimed at the French Derby next.

“Fencing Master was a little disappointing in the race, we feel that he was not quite right. We are going to give him a little break and give him some time to come back to himself.

“Both two-year-olds ran really good races in the Marble Hill Stakes. Samuel Morse will probably go for the Coventry at Royal Ascot and So Stylish could go for the Albany, also at Royal Ascot.

“We were really pleased with Jan Vermeer’s run in the Gallinule, he showed plenty of pace and came home really well despite it being his first run of the season.

“Remember When ran very well in the 1000 Guineas, she might go for the Oaks next.

“Lillie Langtry ran a great race for her first run back, she could go for the Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot for her next start.”

Sundays Horseracing Round-Up

Fame And Glory showed his true colours with a masterclass of a display to provide Aidan O’Brien with a fourth Tattersalls Gold Cup at the Curragh.

Curragh Winner Fame and Glory

And last year’s Irish Derby winner is set for a quick reappearance in the Investec Coronation Cup at Epsom on Friday week, with Stan James trimming him to 2-1 favouritism from 11-4 for the June 4 event. Johnny Murtagh’s mount enjoyed a confidence-boosting win last time out after being turned over on his seasonal bow, and any cobwebs must have been truly blown away as he thundered clear as the 8-15 favourite. Stan James cut today’s Tattersalls Gold Cup winner Fame And Glory from 3/1 to 2/1 favourite for the Investec Coronation Cup at Epsom next month, and from 10/1 to 7/1 jt fav for the Arc de Triomphe at Longchamp in October after his brilliant victory at the Curragh this afternoon

Dermot Weld’s Bethrah (16-1) got up in the dying strides to prevail in a blanket finish for the Etihad Airways Irish 1000 Guineas at the Curragh. Owned by Sheikh Hamdan Al Maktoum, the Marju filly hit overdrive inside the final furlong for Pat Smullen and sneaked up a tiny gap on the rail.

Aidan O’Brien’s Jan Vermeer (6-4 favourite) put himself right in the Investec Derby picture with an authoritative display in the Airlie Stud Gallinule Stakes. Carrying a 7lb penalty for his victory in the Criterium International in November, Johnny Murtagh was content to settle his mount in mid-division behind the pace-setting Bobbyscot. Stan James cut Jan Vermeer from 14s to 6/1 for the Investec Derby following his victory in today’s Gp 2 Gallinule Stakes at the Curragh.

Goldikova

Freddie Head’s superstar mare Goldikova made the perfect start to her five-year-old career with a cosy success in the Prix D’Ispahan at Longchamp. Nicely positioned behind the good gallop set by the pacemakers, Olivier Peslier asked her to quicken two furlongs out, and the response was fairly immediate.

Stan James kept Kite Wood and Kasbah Bliss unchanged at 8/1 for next month’s Gold Cup at Royal Ascot following the success of the former in the Prix Vicomtesse Vigier at Longchamp. Runner up Kasbah Bliss was given plenty to do by Thierry Thulliez but never looked like reeling in Frankie Dettori’s mount.

Canford Cliffs won the Irish 2000 Guineas At The Curragh on Satuday, very impressively……

Richard Hughes is relishing the prospect of Canford Cliffs again waging war with Makfi at Royal Ascot. The Richard Hannon-trained colt was a brilliant winner of the Irish 2000 Guineas at the Curragh on Saturday, but had previously finished third behind the French raider in the Newmarket equivalent. Hughes is, however, confident of exacting revenge upon Makfi when the pair go head to head in the St James’s Palace Stakes on June 15. Royal Ascot is only 3 weeks away! Curragh Weekend Looking Fantastic

Godolphin have supplemented their unbeaten colt Cutlass Bay for Sunday’s Tattersalls Gold Cup at the Curragh.

Free Horseracing Tips

Fame and Glory to run at The Curragh

The four-year-old has had five previous career outings, all for Andre Fabre in France, and signed off his career there in great style by winning the Group One Prix Ganay. His likely participation sets up a mouthwatering clash with Aidan O’Brien’s Fame And Glory, who returned to winning ways in the Mooresbridge Stakes.

O’Brien has also left in the likely pacemaker Dixie Music. Adding further strength to the Group One heat is Sir Michael Stoute’s Glass Harmonium, a gutsy winner of the Gordon Richards Stakes at Sandown last time out. Dermot Weld is also chasing an elusive first success at the highest level with his classy mare Chinese White, who looked better than ever on her seasonal return at Gowran. Mick Channon’s globetrotter Halicarnassus is engaged along with Kevin Prendergast’s Recharge and that pair complete the seven remaining entries.

1000 Guineas….

Mick Channon’s Music Show and Jim Bolger’s Gile Na Greine are the headline acts among 20 fillies left in Sunday’s Etihad Airways Irish 1000 Guineas at the Curragh.

However Seta and Tabassum are notable absentees. Last year’s Rockfel Stakes winner Music Show had to contend with an unfavourable draw in the Newmarket version where she finished sixth, performing best of those drawn high. Gile Na Greine made a brave late bid up the rail to finish third behind Jacqueline Quest and Special Duty and she could be joined by stablemate Atasari. Stan Moore is expecting a bold run from Fillies’ Mile runner-up Lady Darshaan in Sunday’s Irish 1000 Guineas.

Free Horseracing Tips

Canford Cliffs runs in Saturdays 2000 Guineas

In addition we are likely to see Canford Cliffs in the Irish 2000 Guineas at The Curragh. On his Website Richard Hannon says of Canford Cliffs;

Canford Cliffs has completed his preparation for next Saturday’s Irish 2000 Guineas at The Curragh, and Richard Hannon hopes that he can emulate Don’t Forget Me and Tirol, both of whom captured the Irish classic in days gone by.

That pair, of course, also won at Newmarket, whereas Canford Cliffs could finish only third in our Guineas, but Hannon has not lost faith in the horse that he has long maintained “was the best two-year-old that we have had on the place”, and it is all systems go for the trip to Kildare.

He said:”Canford Cliffs has been fine since Newmarket, and we hope that he will show everyone in Ireland what a good horse he is really is. We know what he can do on the gallops, and Royal Ascot racegoers saw for themselves in last year’s Coventry. but you want them to do it again in their classic season, and, though things did not go to script at Newbury or Newmarket, he is in great nick and we can’t wait for the race.

“They tell me that the Brits have won six of the last 10 runnings, I hope it will be seven from 11 after Saturday, and that our fellow is the one bringing home the trophy. Obviously, Xtension, who was just behind us in Newmarket, will be a threat, and, as always, there are bullish noises coming out of Ballydoyle about Steinbeck, but we think Canford Cliffs is a star, and let’s hope he can prove it.

“It could be quite a day as we also run Shamwari Lodge in a Group 3 on the same card. She has done us proud this spring and is better than ever, and she might just ice the cake.”

Fame And Glory Back To Winning Ways

Fame And Glory will be given the chance to add to his Group One tally after opening his account for the year in the High Chaparral EBF Mooresbridge Stakes at the Curragh.

Free Horseracing Tips

Fame And Glory

Aidan O’Brien‘s colt enjoyed an excellent campaign in 2009, annihilating his rivals in the Irish Derby and chasing home wonder horse Sea The Stars in both the English equivalent and the Irish Champion Stakes. He suffered an odds-on reverse when third on his comeback in last month’s Alleged Stakes but sent off the 30-100 favourite to atone for that defeat under Johnny Murtagh, the result was scarcely in doubt.

His stablemate Dixie Music quickly opened up a big advantage and as he came back to the field passing the three-furlong marker, Fame And Glory began to stamp his authority on the event. Recharge tried to make a race of it inside the final furlong but Fame And Glory had too many guns and drew clear to take the 10-furlong Group Three by five lengths. A return to the Curragh for the Tattersalls Gold Cup on May 23 is now on his agenda. Aidan O’Brien said of the win;

“I’m delighted with that, they went a good even gallop, He’s come on well from his first run back. He’ll probably go for the Tattersalls Gold Cup now.
