Sunday Football Fixtures
There are two fixtures on Sunday in the Premier League with Fulham hosting Sunderland in London and Spurs visit Goodison Park to take on Everton. Here are Sundays odds;

Sundays Bets

Fulham (6/5) Draw (12/5) Sunderland (13/5)

Everton (2) Draw (12/5) Tottenham (6/4)

My view is to ignore the Fulham game, it looks tricky and could easily go either way. In my view Tottenham are the best bet of the weekend at 6/4 away to Everton. It was contrasting fortunes mid-week for both teams but in the League Spurs look very strong, certainly much better than Everton who have struggled. You can check out the latest results using the Betfair widget below, certainly Spurs are in form.

Everton have lost their last three league games and are looking like a team facing a regulation battle rather than challenging for a European place as has been the norm under David Moyes. Spurs are socring for fun and even ignoring (if you can) the 9-1 defeat of Wigan they are finding the net with regularity and in my view at 6/4 are a great bet to win. Get on!

Everton v Liverpool

Everton boss David Moyes has rejected rumours he is considering quitting the club. The Toffees have endured a disappointing season to date and Wednesday’s defeat to Hull leaves Moyes’ men just four points above the drop zone. The Toffees now face under pressure Liverpool.

Moyes admits his side could be dragged into a relegation battle if they do not improve their form quickly. When asked in the post-match press conference if he was aware of a rumour on Merseyside that he was preparing to stand down, the Scot turned the question back on his inquisitor.

“Do you live on Merseyside?” he asked back. When asked if he was prepared to comment on the rumour, he flatly said: “No.” Another question concerned the club’s position in the table, 14th, four points above the bottom three. Moyes was asked if he was worried Everton could become embroiled in a survival battle, and he replied: “Could be, yes.”

Fabio Aurelio insists Liverpool‘s players and not manager Rafa Benitez are to blame for their early UEFA Champions League exit. Liverpool crashed out of Europe’s premier competition on Tuesday after Fiorentina beat Lyon to ensure their progress alongside the French club into the knockout stages.

Benitez has come under increasing pressure following LIverpool‘s Champions League elimination, but Aurelio feels the Anfield players should shoulder the blame and not the manager. Aurelio has called on the squad to bounce back this weekend in the Merseyside derby against Everton as they look to get their Premier League campaign back on track.

Gerrard Liverpool Captain

“The players still have confidence and we know that it is only us who can change our situation by working hard to improve,” said Aurelio We know we can do better, certainly than we are doing at the moment. The team are now intent on winning at Everton on Sunday and starting to get more points right to the end of the season. Then we will see what position we are in, and what we are able to fight for. It is a big game next against Everton and a big opportunity to improve and regain the strength we need for a long season ahead.”

Result: Score Draw First Scorer: David N’Gog

Villa v Spurs

Aston Villa boss Martin O’Neill will not be rushing James Collins back into his first-team plans. The 26-year-old centre-half missed the 1-1 draw at Burnley on Saturday after picking up a groin injury. The Wales international has made positive strides in his recovery since then, and could come into contention for the visit of Tottenham this weekend. O’Neill, though, will not risk his £5million summer signing from West Ham if he feels he is not 100 per cent fit.

Villa host free scoring Spurs at Villa Park

“James was really unfortunate to miss Burnley,” said the Villa manager. He trained all of the week and it was only in the last few moments of training on the Friday that he started to feel something again. I will have a look at it. At this minute, I would think he would be a doubt (for Spurs). The last thing you want to do is bring someone back too quickly and then find he’s out for a much longer period.”

Meanwhile Tottenham defender Benoit Assou-Ekotto has praised manager Harry Redknapp for bringing the best out of him. The 25-year-old left-back has played in 13 of Spurs’ Premier League games so far this season and has made himself a regular in the Cameroon national team that has qualified for next year’s World Cup. Assou-Ekotto moved to White Hart Lane from Lens three years ago, but fell out of favour under previous managers Martin Jol and Juande Ramos. He has been a part of the Tottenham team that has made an excellent start to the campaign this term, playing in the 9-1 demolition of Wigan at the weekend, and praised Redknapp for keeping faith with him.

“There are a lot of factors involved, I had a long injury and then only played six months before that,” he said. “It’s about adapting to the game and now I’m more confident. Harry obviously believes in me, the other managers maybe didn’t believe in me as much.

Manchester United v Everton

A statistic referred to in Andy Cole’s article in the Manchester Evening News made me realise how much less of a goal threat United are this season. We have scored just 23 goals this season; behind Arsenal (36), Chelsea (29) and Liverpool (27). It was a completely different story last season and even the season before, when goals were very rarely a problem for United as home games would often produce 2 or more goals. An over used cliche it may be, but Ronaldo’s departure really has left a big hole in the squad. Hopefully it’s a hole that isn’t big enough to cost United dearly.

Seeing as Ronaldo is one of the best players in the world, and a player who’s being compared to George Best, the said hole was always going to be big. To say that goals have been taken out of the team is a commonly made mistake. What United have is a squad that has the potential to score goals, but for some reason haven’t stepped up to the plate. Losing a player like Ronaldo, who you can rely on to produce the goals almost every week seems to have affected the team, who are now looking around at each other wondering who they can depend on now. It’s only been in the last few games that the midfielders have really started to contribute as an attacking threat instead of just leaving it to Rooney and Berbatov.

Manchester United are looking for a win

Despite the defeat at Stamford Bridge, a lot of positives can be taken from the game because it was rather nice to see the United players actually turn up for a big game. We were very lucky against Arsenal and Anfield was a disaster. However there was a determination and drive about the team last Sunday which wasn’t seen during this season’s previous top 4 games. Carrick, Fletcher and Anderson hardly gave Lampard and the rest of Chelsea’s midfield a tough afternoon. Vidic and Ferdinand didn’t feature, so Evans and Brown had to fill in at the back. They put in brilliant defensive displays, keeping Drogba and Anelka quiet throughout the match. This all meant that United were by far the better side on the day and quite frankly were robbed.

United Manager Speaks about Technology in Football………

To prevent themselves from falling further back in the title race, Fergie’s side will aim to beat a stuttering Everton team to Old Trafford on Saturday. David Moyes’ side have won four out of their last nine games and find themselves 12th in league. It’s early days, but Everton really need to get their act together to keep the chances of City finishing in the top 4 as small as possible. Arteta’s absence is a good explanation to their relatively disappointing start, as he was often at the centre of Everton’s attacks last season. Another reason is that Moyes has had to work with a small squad this season, yet again.

The Toffeess will do well to put a decent team out at Old Trafford. Jagielka, Arteta, Howard, Phil Neville, and Saha are all amongst the absentees. Meanwhile United will be without Ferdinand, Neville and Fabio.

The injuries are likely to mean that Everton will put a below average side out on Saturday, so I predict a United victory. Probable team;
Van Der Sar
O’Shea Brown Vidic Evra
Valencia Fletcher Anderson Nani
Rooney Berbatov

Chelsea to Win the FA Cup Final…….

If this was a Premier League game, Chelsea would belong odds on. There is no reason why Chelsea should lose to Everton at Wembley.

Everton have had a good season and indeed overcame Manchester United in the semi-final. That was a dull game that was decided on penalties.

Chelsea coasted through, beating Arsenal in a decent game. As a neutral I can say that Chelsea are by far a better team than Everton and should win this game and salvage something from, for them, a below standard season.

When you look at the sides the only area where Everton may be better is in the managerial chair. David Moyes is an excellent manager, and Chelsea could do worse than offer him the vacant post at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea have great players, world class players in almost every area and are used to the big game. Everton are a decent side, but as the Premier League table shows the big four have a monopoly and a victory for Chelsea will see yet another clean sweep for the big four in all competitions.

Didier Drogba will be Chelsea’s key man and has been in goal scoring form since Guus Hiddink arrived. Chelsea have had a pretty straightforward road to Wembley..This Video from Youtube is a good reminder of how Chelsea got to the final…

Can Everton stop the blues? No, says the market and anyone, but die hard Everton fans would have to agree. Chelsea held European Champions to a draw, twice and are just a class side. They can not be opposed and all we can hope for is that there is some value in the market to back Chelsea, or Lay Everton.

The Good News…
There is some value! Blue Square have Chelsea at best price 3/4 to win 90 Minutes…that is the bet!
After 4/5 Saturday, Another Good Day Expected on Sunday…

It was a good day for Racing Diary Football Tips on Saturday;

We gave 5 bets for Saturdays Premier League Matches, ignoring a couple of end of season meaningless games. That was profitable advice.

Our advice was..

Back Man Utd- Won

Lay Fulham to Lose – Lost

Lay Man City – Won

Back Arsenal – Won (Bet of the day at 13/10)

Back Spurs- Won

Four out of Five winning advices today, and the football continues today with two live matches.

Liverpool V Newcastle United -
Sunday 1:30 Setanta Sports

Where do we start with this one? This could finish any score line, with Liverpool scoring and leaking goals galore.

Alan Shearer needs to get something out of this game at Anfield, but it will not be easy! Still without a win since taking over Newcastle were, honestly, poor against Porstmouth.

That was a must win game, ay Home against weak opposition and was not good enough. Any thoughts of winning at Anfield must seem as distant as those days when this fixture produced two thrilling 4-3 victories for Liverpool and some entertaining football.

If Newcastle actually had any chance of scoring I would say don’t rule it out, but you can! Remember this- From Youtube….What a match this was!

Sadly it won’t happen this time, I can not see Newcastle scoring!
There is a realistic possibility that Newcastle will be relegated. I really hope they stay up, but they are not good enough and will need to produce something special. They need to get points and quick.

If Shearer had been in charge from the start, there is little or no doubt that Newcastle would be safe. They will need agoals to save them. Will they come from Owen back at Anfield? Will he play?

When you look at Liverpool’s run in to the end of the 08/09 season, you will see that they have some fairly easy matches, and this is one of them. I fully expect Liverpool to win. It could be 3 or 4 or more, sadly for Newcastle.

Liverpool are 1/4, no value but should win. You can not rule out a drubbing for Newcastle.

Sunderland V Everton – Sunday 16:00 Sky Sports

They take on a Wembley Bound Everton who are now almost certain of a place in Europe.

Fifth place in the league provides around £1million more than sixth place so you can expect David Moyes to field a very strong team. His players will be keen to earn their cup final places.

Sunderland were beaten by bottom club West Brom, 3-0. They really had and to win that and Everton are now established as a top club, top of the second tier that exists in the Premiership. This is a tight call according to the market with Sunderland Favourites (13/8) and Everton 2/1. I think that its wrong.

Laying Sunderland is the best bet. If it is a draw, and it may be, then you win.

Manchester United v Portsmouth – 8pm

The title is Manchester United‘s to win now, following Liverpool’s 4-4 draw with Arsenal last night. The Champions will need to play better than they did against Everton if they are to win the league with the minimum of fuss. Tonight they face Portsmouth at Old Trafford and surely must win this one.

United were coasting to yet another Premier League crown before being beaten 4-1 by Liverpool and then remarkably falling foul of Fulham. They then managed last gasp wins against Villa and Sunderland ,so it would be fair to say that United are not in the best league form. But they should beat Portsmouth who have had a roller-coaster season, first the departure of Redknapp to Spurs, then the sacking on Tony Adams and then the appointment of Paul Hart. They now look safe and as such have nothing left to play for this season after their 1-0 win at the weekend put them six points clear of the drop zone. United are due a return to commanding league form and could thrash Portsmouth tonight.

United fans will certainly be looking for a better performance from Berbatov, but I would not be lumping on him at 5/1 to score first. I will settle for backing United to win the game.

Man Utd are a 1/4 chance to win the game, but better value is to be had by backing Utd to win to nil at 4/5 with Blue Square.

Chelsea v Everton – 8pm

Both teams were engaged in FA Cup Semi-Final Action at the weekend and will meet tonight in the league for what is a rehearsal for the FA Cup Final. Chelsea played well and beat Arsenal, whereas Everton did not play well and won on Penalties against a weakened Manchester United. Although Chelsea only have a remote chance of winning the league there is every reason to make sure they win this game, not least the imp[act that tonight’s result will have on hearts and minds in the cup final!

Chelsea are a different team under Guus Hiddink and his arrival has sparked Didier Drogba in to action. He is on fire at the moment and was on target once again at Wembley, netting the winner to make it five goals in four games. Drogba is awesome in this mood and will present a totally different proposition for the Everton defence than Berbatov managed on Saturday. Everton’s recent away form has been moderate having only managed a draw with Newcastle, Blackburn and Villa and also suffering a 2-1 defeat at Portsmouth in their last four away matches. I am struggling to find any reason why Chelsea should not win this one and keep a clean sheet too.

Chelsea are 4/9 to win the game (generally) and are 6/5 (Blue Sq) to win to nil.

Tonight’s Advice

Having secured a place in the FA Cup Final Chelsea will be watching with interest to see who they will face in the FA Cup Final on 30 May 2009 at Wembley Stadium. Chelsea beat Arsenal (as we predicted) 2-1 to land us a nice 6-4 win.

Manchester United v Everton, Sunday 19th April, 4pm.

Manchester United are top of the Premier League and are in the Champions League Semi-Finals, so they are chasing a historic treble, which they achieved ten years ago in dramatic last gasp fashion. Recent matches have seen late drama as Manchester United have scored some specatular and important late goals.

The best prices for the 90 minutes are
Manchester United- 5/6 (Ladbrokes and Betfair)
Everton – 9/2 (Generally)
Draw- 5/2 (Betfred)

I must say that the 5/6 about Manchester United is better than I thought. Everton have had a good season under the excellent David Moyes but the big four are just a class apart and I expect Manchester United to win this match in 90 minutes. They just seem too strong in every department for the men from Goodison.

David Moyes thinks that United’s current form makes them ripe to be beaten. I admire his positive attitude but he must feel like those athletes felt when they lined up in the 200 metres final at last years Olympics against Usain Bolt. Manchester United could slip up, but their League, Champions League and FA Cup position indicates that it is not something they are used to doing this season.

In every position Manchester United are better than Everton. It is harsh, but as someone interested only in making money, with no attachment to either club the form is decisive and I would price Manchester United as a 1-2 shot, so 5/6 with Ladbrokes is a huge price.
<a href='http://www.ladbrokes.com/ast?action=go_asset&aff_id=32433&asset_id=285'target='_blank'><img src='http://www.ladbrokes.com/ast?action=asset_req&imgonly=1&aff_id=32433&asset_id=285'width='468' height='60' border='0' alt=''/>

My Advice is to BACK Manchester United at 5/6 to Win in 90 Minutes with Ladbrokes or Betfair. For those who want a bit more adventure you can Lay Everton, so you cover the draw. The only nightmare result is an Everton win and I just can’t see that happening.
