This is always a very poor week for punting over jumps,with the Cheltenham Festival only a week away. Speaking of which you can now download the Cheltenham Festival Charity Single, which is now officially released.

Its not bad but it is for very good causes so do your bit, I have, its driving my family crazy.

Today is about as bad as it gets and at Huntingdon and Ffos Las I advise no bets. That leaves only Lingfield and to be honest I am not too enthusiastic there either. I do however have one bet for you there;

Free Horseracing Tips for Monday;

5:00 Lingfield, Beyond- Win. A handicap débutante for the Jeremy Noseda yard who I think are a team to follow this season on turf, which is not far away now. It all kicks off on 27th March, that is less than three weeks away. Its a great time for racing with Cheltenham, the flat and then The Grand National, but sadly today is not in that bracket. Beyond won a maiden last time and is awarded a mark of 71 for that which I am taking a chance on being a bit light. Modest stakes advisedbut this could do the business for us today.

Good Luck.

Our Vic Heads Greatwood Gold Cup Market

Our Vic heads a final field of just nine runners in the Raymond Mould Supporting Greatwood Gold Cup at Newbury on Saturday.

Picture

The 12-year-old has enjoyed a fantastic start to 2010 having struck gold in the Peter Marsh Chase at Haydock before filling the runner-up spot in the Blue Square Gold Cup at the same track. Champion trainer Paul Nicholls saddles Big Fella Thanks and Pasco while Nigel Twiston-Davies is represented by Battlecry as he bids for a second successive big Saturday prize having saddled last weekend’s Racing Post Chase at Kempton.

Gary Moore’s Panjo Bere and the Jonjo O’Neill-trained Can’t Buy Time both arrive on the back of victories while Regal Heights, Stan and Au Courant complete the field.

We will take a close look at this race shortly.

Warwick Gets the Go Ahead

This afternoon’s meeting at Warwick goes ahead after the track passed a 7.30am inspection. Six millimetres of rain fell at the venue overnight and while the ground is heavy, soft in places, clerk of the course Andrew Morris is satisfied with conditions. He said:

“The track is currently raceable and it has stopped raining now. There is the possibility that we may have to take out a couple of fences but we will make that decision nearer the time. We’re happy for racing to go ahead though.”

Get me Out Of Here- Rewards Faith at 10/1

Were you on?

Advised on Friday at 10/1 Get Me Out Of Here Won at an SP of 6/1

Tony McCoy bounced back from the disappointment of Denman’s shock fall in the Aon Chase as Get Me Out Of Here (6-1) landed the totesport Trophy. Jonjo O’Neill’s charge was travelling supremely well into the straight and came there strongly at the last to challenge Ronaldo Des Mottes. It looked like McCoy’s day might take a further knock as his mount ploughed through the last, but he picked up strongly on the level to win going away by a length and three-quarters.

Taking a step back and looking at the weekend it was very interesting in the context of Cheltenham. I honestly think Dunguib could be the biggest certainty ever to line up at Cheltenham and is a serious horse for the future if he stays sound.

Punchestowns made a jumping error, but came cruising up to win easily. It was the jumping error that made me think, but I always remember Mick Fitzgerald saying he believed this to be a Gold Cup winner of the future. The more I see the more I am sure the Gold Cup is a two horse race and anyone who says otherwise is kidding themselves. It is going to be fantastic, that is for sure.

Very Impressive Dunguib

And now, Tuesday at Market Rasen and Sedgefield with all-weather action at Southwell. Not quite Cheltenham but there to be tackled. Here are my Free Horseracing Betting Tips for Tuesday.

2:00 Market Rasen, Bygones Of Brid- Win. I think this is a decent horse who is just short of top class, as his form illustrates, but more than capable in a race like this. This could be the best bet of the day in my view, if the price is right it may be a heavy investment for me. Timmy Murphy on board is a big plus, he has already won on the horse and has a style that suits this one down to the ground.

3:30 Market Rasen, Carrickmines- Win. This is such a poor race that Carrickmines is almost my selection on default. He remains on his mark when second last time and I am sure the stables horses were short of work during the freeze and if I am right he should come here a bit sharper and hopefully win. A good solid type who I will wait to back until I have seen him jump a couple of fences. He will probably be dropped in and trade at a bigger price in play.

4:30 Market Rasen, Mac Aeda- Win. One run in this one’s career was a course and distance win for a stable who does well with their bumper runners. I would expect him to improve for that first outing. Being trained in Malton many of the stables in the North Yorkshire training centre get improvement from their runners from first to second run which will in my view see him home despite having to give weight away to what, on paper at least, looks a weak bumper.

4.05 Lingfield with the cheek pieces back on and the strong pace set up MAO CHIN TIRE is an excellent back to lay at least a point and a half in this, he doesnt always find what he looks as though he’s going to so you may want to equal out the profit.

3.20 Catterick – TRUCKERS HALL, short term back to lay here. Tom George’s horses have been held up by the weather in January but are stripping much fitter now. This horse will travel much better than his market rival BARAFUNDLE, who is much more of a sluggard than our back to lay. I suggest a back at around 3.2 pre play laying off at 2.5 in play. This should be readily achievable

3.00 Bangor – Again lack of pace here could produce a funny result. Cant see the Jonjo O’Neill trained BRAVEHEART MOVE being off today as he is clearly being handicapped so I will be taking this on at shorter than Betfair SP in running. I will update early in play for this race, ideally a good gallop would suit the favourite D

Friday February 5, 2010 2:37 Lee Keys
2:34
Lee Keys:

2.55 Lingfield – The gallop wont be breakneck here with Maggie Kate, Hart Of Gold and Sonhador likely to be up there early. While all three of these arent to be trusted the play here will be laying anything here held up off the pace as I dont think they will have a gallop to run at. Look at anything fancied that is ridden towards the back and aim to pinch the eccies for the day

made very hard work of that, we were lucky because Monaco Dream didnt want to go past and she must be taken on in future but not complaining i did top up at odds against in running so a nice start

Friday February 5, 2010 1:49 Lee Keys
1:15
Lee Keys:

1.45 Lingfield – The Mark Johnston trained ABERGAVENNY should have no problem in winning this providing he has learned from his debut where things didnt drop right for him. A lot of this yards runners can improve massively for their first starts and they think this one is a decent horse. If the horse comes out of the traps better and is up with the pace then I will top up my already substantial bet in play providing the odds are near Betfair SP. Price is King remember

Thursdays Horseracing Tips, 4 February

Free Horseracing Tips

By Carl Harris

Horseracing Tips for Thursday! Well there are only two jumps meetings scheduled for Thursday over jumps, at Wincanton and Towcester. There is an inspection at Wincanton and Towcester looks a pretty poor card.

It has been a struggle this week with the weather and in truth we have had some appalling cards from which to bet. The all-weather today at Southwell and Wolverhampton will definitely go ahead. My best bet today actually runs at Southwell;

3:00 Southwell, Gargano- Win. Mark Johnston just keeps firing in the winners, day after day. Garango has won his last two races over 1m 4f and takes a slight drop in trip here today. The slight worry would be the lack of course form but Mark Johnston will be pretty sure that he will handle the fibre sand.  There are few better riders on the all-weather than Neil Callan who takes the ride boasting a decent strike rate for the stable.

All Weather action at Southwell

Assuming Wincanton goes ahead…

1:50 Wincanton, Topsham Belle- Win. Tony McCoy has a fantastic strike rate when teaming up with Nicky Henderson. We are unlikely to get any sort of price but should provide easy pickings. The mare has shown good form in all her starts to date, winning a bumper and then a novices’ hurdle last time out at Ludlow by nine lengths from Banjaxed Girl who has since franked the form by bolting up by a mere 17 lengths at Uttoxeter.
Bet Live With inrunningodds.com

3:50 Wincanton, Tank Buster- Win. Tank Buster runs in the colours of Little Shilling who was a prolific winner last year and the owners could have another with Tank Buster. Having gone up five for his last run at Market Rasen there could still be plenty to come in a race that has few credible opponents. Certainly you would expect Tank Buster to be in the places at least but I think he could win this in style.

Carl Harris’ Best Bets for Thursday 4 February

  • 1:50 Wincanton, Topsham Belle- Win
  • 3:00 Southwell, Gargano- Win

Wednesdays Horseracing Tips, 3 February

Free Horseracing Tips

By Carl Harris

It could be a busy day of jumps racing with Newcastle, Leicester and Exeter all due to stage jumps meetings. Folkstone went by the wayside on Tuesday and there are plenty of inspections, in fact there are inspections at all of the Wednesday jumps courses.

I have to assume they will all go ahead, but it will be frustrating if there is no jumping. Lingfield and Kempton will be fine on the all-weather. Here are my best bets for Wednesday;

3:05 Exeter, Ayemdee- Win. Jonjo O’Neil has done exceptionally well with this horse and after three wins he has gone up a further stone for an impressive win at Uttoxeter. Despite that rise in the handicap I think there is plenty more to come and the four timer can be landed.

Free Horseracing Tips

Punchestowns runs on Saturday

4:15 Exeter, Copper Bleu- Win. Philip Hobbs and Richard Johnson are in decent form at the moment. I would be very surprised if Copper Bleu was not on the score sheet today. A very decent hurdler (rated 142) he has yet to master fences but has a rock solid opportunity to break his duck over the larger obstacles in a race that should not take much winning.

Carl Harris’ Best Bets for Wednesday, 3 February

  • 3:05 Exeter, Ayemdee- Win
  • 4:15 Exeter, Copper Bleu- Win

Tuesdays Horseracing Tips, 2 February

Free Horseracing Tips

By Carl Harris

Not a great day on Monday with only one meeting at Wolverhampton. I am hoping that the weather eases up to enable jumps racing to take place.

There is an inspection at Folkstone and Taunton are hoping for warmer temperatures. The weekend looks to be shaping well with Punchestowns, Binocular and Zaynar all set for an appearance.

There is nothing more frustrating than doing the cards only for them to be called off, but there is nothing we can do about that, here are my bets for Tuesday, weather permitting.

3:40 Taunton, Velentine Vic- Win. One I really like is Valentine Vic from the Champion Trainer’s stable of Paul Nicholls with Ruby Walsh taking the ride. The form looks very solid with a decent course and distance win last time, winning by six lenths in impressive style. Despite a penalty for that in this novice company I would expect a repeat performance with the same result.

Free Horseracing Tips

McCoy rides for Nicky Henderson

1:50 Folkstone, Strategic Gale- Win. Tony McCoy teams up with Nicky Henderson again, a combination well worth following. Strategic Gale went very close at Huntingdon last time, going down a short head in a bumper. Now over hurdles for the first time with Tony McCoy aboard I would expect the pair not be found wanting in the finish.

Carl Harris’ Best Bets for Tuesday 2 February

  • 3:40 Taunton, Velentine Vic- Win.
  • 1:50 Folkstone, Strategic Gale- Win.
