Well its Saturday and I am taking a break after today for a few days, so there wont be any meaningful coverage on here until Thursday. We have your free horseracing tips for today….

Free Horseracing Tips

Chester on Saturday

After a wonderful four days at York, we head to Sandown and Chester. Free Horseracing Tips from Racing Diary…..

2:05 Sandown, SETA, Win.
Kieren Fallon is in impressive form at the moment and he can have another listed race winner here with Seta in my view. A cracking start to proceedings and a race in which the Classic Generation have held the upper hand in recent years and they can dominate again with SETA fancied to overcome her low draw and take another step towards fulfilling her undoubted potential. Since disappointing in the Guineas Luca Cumani has trod gently with his filly and this is a significantly tougher Listed race than the one which she won at Warwick last time; she wasn’t all that impressive that day but entries in the Group 1 Sun Chariot and Matron Stakes indicate that connections haven’t lost their faith in her and the step back up in trip shouldn’t pose any problems.

3:55 Chester, Admirable Spirit, Win.
The stables two year-olds have had such a good year, but of late they have not been dominating as they have done. I think though this will not worry us here. Richard Hannon’s charge won on debut before not being held far in Group Company. The form from that last race looks to have plenty of strength to it and another improved run is expected. NAP.

Good Luck, have a great few days, see you soon!

Sundays Free Horseracing Tips

After Glorious Goodwood it is back to normal service, but this Sunday we have two listed races. Here are Sundays Free Horseracing Tips….

Free Horseracing Tips

Chester on Sunday

3:30 Chester, Doncaster Rover, Win. This could be his day, down in grade and holds every chance in this field. The only course and distance winner in the field he has a good rider in Philip Makin in the saddle. I like Doncaster Rover very much.

4:30 Newbury, Gallic Star, Win. This is my best bet of the day. Last time out she was third in the Ribblesdale Stakes and is a genuine high class performer. Chris Catlin takes the ride and I really fancy this one.

What a great day of racing ahead of Saturday with York (where I will be), Ascot and Chester being the best cards on offer. The John Smith’s Cup at York and the Summer Mile at Ascot as the big races of the day. Free Horseracing Tips for Saturday, from Racing Diary.

York John Smiths Cup on Saturday

York….

We will kick off with York….Free Horseracing Tips for Saturday (will keep it short today)

2:00 York, Harlech Castle, Win. This is a straight match in my book between Cornus and Harlech Castle. Alan McCabe has got the best out of Cornus again but Harlech Castle just keeps on winning and I think he is still on a decent mark. Jim Boyle has booked Ryan Moore which is in my view significant.
totesport.com

3:05 York Demolition, Win. Last time out Richard Fahey’s first string was second in the Old Newton Cup, although some way behind the winner that one was a blot on the handicap, so with that out of the equation Demolition ran a very good race. Off this mark therefore I think he is still quite competitive. In my view this is a very tough race but Demolition from the yard who knows how to win it is my pick here.

3:40 York, Drunken Sailor, Win (NAP). There may be a few drunken sailors in the crowd, but the horse is a decent sort. Kieren Fallon takes the ride for his primary stable of Luca Cumani and I think this is the best bet on the card here. He was second in the Northumberland Plate last time, to Overturn, this is form I think is rock solid and over the same trip, 1m 6f Drunken Sailor can win at York on Saturday.

4:50 York, Dubai Media, Win.Last time out this one was eight in the Sandringham at Royal Ascot. This is well below that level, in fact it is a maiden that really should go to Ed Dunlop’s three year-old. What price, that is the question?

Ascot….

2:50 Ascot Summer Mile, Premier Loco, Win. Back to form last time, winning The Criterion Stakes (group 3) last time out at Newmarket. Another Group 2 here can go to Chris Wall’s stable star, with an official mark of 119 he is the one to beat.
totesport.com

Chester….

2:15 Chester, Lord Shanakill, Win. Last time out he was outclassed by Starspangledbanner. That was group one and he may or may not be a group one animal but this is his level and I really like him here.

3:20 Chester, City Wall Stakes, Borderlescott, Win. Last year Borderlescott won this, just and I think he will follow up again. A very shrewd move by Robin Bastiman in the booking of the in form Tom Queally (Big Newmarket double Thursday).

Ascot’s opener looks an absolute cracker with two of my personal horses to follow in opposition. Bohemian Melody chased too strong a pace at Sandown last time and did well in the circumstances to finish runner up on his first start on turf. He has been raised 4lbs for that run and preference is given to Man Of Action (1.45) who is chasing a hat-trick having won both starts so far this year for Newmarket trainer John Gosden.

The selection was balloted out of the 32Red Trophy at Newmarket yesterday

where he would have been taking on battle-hardened handicappers for the first time. Back against his own age group he looks sure to take the beating with fast ground no concern.

Mabuya refused to settle and failed to get home over 12f at Salisbury last time. Dropped back in trip a couple of furlongs he remains one to consider but Dubai Bounty (3.30) is lightly-raced and open to considerable improvement having only raced once on turf where she ran very well in defeat behind last week’s Haydock disappointment Berling.

Sarasota Sunshine (4.05) was no match for Man Of Action on her penultimate start but went one better last time and with the Noseda horses running out of their skin at present she can follow up in the fillies’ handicap. Frankie Dettori was on board when the filly landed a Kempton handicap back in August and the Italian takes over for the first time since later today.

The big betting race of the day is the John Smith’s Cup from York. Rebel Soldier would have been a confident selection, even in a 20-runner handicap, but connections have decided to wait for Glorious Goodwood later in the month. Forte Dei Marmi (3.05) disappointed on his previous visit to the Knavesmire but he bolted up in the Zetland Gold Cup at Redcar last time and can reverse C&D form with Imposing who looked a shade unlucky not to win at Royal Ascot last time. I know there are many in the Stoute camp who feel it was the short straight at Ascot that was the reason for Imposing’s defeat last time and returning to York will see him in a much better light but I marginally favour Forte Dei Marmi with Fallon in the saddle.

Capponi is clearly going the right way and will be tough to beat in the mile handicap but Mac’s Power (2.30) is recommended for James Fanshawe and Ryan Moore. The four-year-old was backed as if defeat was out of the question at Doncaster over 7f last time; the step back up in trip is no concern although he wouldn’t want the ground lightning fast.

There will be a massive crowd at Chester and Borderlescott (3.20) can follow up his 2009 victory in the City Wall Stakes. Tom Queally has been booked for this dual Group 1 winner and this looks a perfect opportunity for the Robin Bastiman’s eight-year-old to get his head in front ahead of his bid for a third successive win in the Nunthorpe Stakes at York next month.

Rose Street has four entries over the weekend including three at Perth on Sunday and I am convinced there is much more to come from this lightly-raced mare. She tended to jump out to the right at Uttoxeter last time and both her wins on the flat were gained going right-handed. Perth should suit down to the ground but and the 2m 4f novices’ hurdle looks ideal even with Gordon Elliot sending over his usual raiding party from Ireland.

Free Horseracing Tips

By Carl Harris

Mamlook set the meeting up for us with a 9/1 winner gambled in to 7/1. Its the final day of a wonderful week at Chester and we have your free horseracing tips for Friday.

We will be off to Ascot on Saturday for the Victoria Cup then next week it is York, the flat racing season really is in full flow. Lets find some more winners today, remember horseracing tips are free at Racing Diary.

2:15 Chester Dancing David is my pick here. I always think that Brian Meehan’s horses come on for their first runs of the season and on that basis the second behind Elusive Pimpernel reads very well in the Craven Stakes. He has Azmeel to beat in my view but I think Dancing David is a great bet.

Free Horseracing Tips

Get on Harbinger

2:45 Chester Harbinger is my best bet of the day, to follow up a decent win at Newbury last time and will be hard to beat here despite a 3lb penalty for Sir Michael Stoute. Harbinger was exceedingly impressive at Newbury in the John Porter Stakes where he travelled with ominous purpose throughout. This longer trip around this course should be well within his reach and having won here before, his ability to act around the track is not in question. This is one to follow this season in my view. NAP.

Thats it just two bets on Friday. Have a great day and I am looking forward to Ascot on Saturday. Get a £25 Free Bet from Stan James and help keep Racing Diary Free….

Thursdays Free Horseracing Tips, 6 May

Free Horseracing Tips

By Carl Harris

Its day two at Chester and once again we take a look at the card, with only the maiden omitted. Here are your free horseracing tips for General Election Day, at Chester.

Some good racing once again on The Roodee, here are my thoughts for Thursday 6th May. Free Horseracing Tips from Racing Diary….

1:45 Chester Submariner, I am taking a bit of chance in backing Submariner after an impressive maiden win. He may be a decent horse and could be up to defying the mark of 87 awarded to him by the handicapper. The Singspiel colt is certainly bred to do the job, so with minimum stakes I am going to stick with what I put in my note book on April 20th, which was back next time in handicap if under mark of 90.

2:15 Chester, The Huxley Stakes, Redwood, is the choice in a competitive and exciting looking race. I was impressed with Redwood’s seasonal reappearance, he returned to action with a good run at Sandown in a group 3, when looking the winner before tiring late on. He should’ve come on for that and, rated 113, he’s certainly a decent sort. Again minimum stakes but Redwood is the one for me here.

Huxley Stakes – 2.15pm Chester: 7-2 Redwood, 4-1 South Easter, Stotsfold, 15-2 Kingdom Of Fife, 8-1 Kings Gambit, 9-1 Les Fazzani, Sans Frontieres, 11-1 Debussy (EW 1/5 1,2,3)

Rocket Man to Win for Murtagh?

2:45 Chester, The Chester Vase, Rocket Man for Aidan O’Brien is an interesting runner. Last year the stable had the first and second with Golden Sword a bit of a shock winner. Only one runner this year and O’Brien has stepped him up straight away after a maiden win in Ireland. This is a Derby trial and with so much talent at Ballydoyle I find it interesting that Johnny Murtagh rides this one in a race that Aidan O’Brien has an excellent record. Decent bet.

3:15 Chester, Bullwhip for John Gosden’s made his racecourse debut at the back end of March and did so in mightily impressive fashion, running out a ready seven-length winner of what is traditionally a warm maiden. The form of the race is yet to be seriously tested, but the visual impression this well-related sort made that day promised much before he then finished behind Dick Turpin when upped in grade. Outclassed in the Greenham Stakes this is more his level and I will back him on his handicap debut.

4:30 Chester, Rule Of Nature trained by Sir Michael Stoute’s daughter of Oasis Dream won over six furlongs as a juvenile on her second start and returned in good form to take second behind Horseradish off a mark of 75. The 1lb pull in the weights should ensure there’s very little between them here she’s bred to make a fair sprinter and from just about the best of the draw is the one I am backing.

Horseracing News and Tips

Fallon Rides in the last at Chester

5:05 Chester Luc Jordan for Luca Cumani and Kieran Fallon is my pick in the lucky last. I think I will need luck given that this is a tough race, but Luca Cumani’s charge won his last three starts in 2009, in the process climbing 11lbs in the ratings. The horse he beat last time has scored in facile fashion already this year giving the form a rock-solid look, so with plenty more to come from this colt and from a good draw he’s selected under Fallon.

Good luck!

Free Horseracing Tips

Off to Chester For Three Days....

There is now only one day to go until the General Election which is as unpredictable as the draw at Chester. A low draw is a must, but not always, at the wonderful Chester course.

1:45 Chester Bathwick Bear, can win this race for David Evans who won this last year with the prolific Star Rover who had already won three times before turning up here.

Bathwick Bear is two from two to date and I think he will defy top weight to win here. Small Stakes.

2:15 Chester Myplacelater has the best form in this race but there are too many unexposed individuals for me to steam in although that win at Newbury in a decent race stands out.Again small stakes.

2:45 The Chester Cup, Mamlook is my pick in a tremedous and competitive race, over 2m 2f. The second in the Cesarewitch over the same trip will stand him in good stead here.

Obviously the seven pounds hike in the weights is a big worry but I think he may be able to defy that here with him being very fit. Darley Sun was a very well handicapped horse so take him out and the form stands up very well. Mamlook is sure to be very well supported so the advice is to take the price.

Free Horseracing Tips

Look Busy Each Way at Chester

3:15 Chester Look Busy has won from a pound higher than her current mark of 105. She is capable of winning this and I am taking it on faith that she is fit and ready to do herself justice on her seasonal reappearance.

She has won over the course and distance and stall 2 is a big positive in this. Again small stakes but the form book says, all things been equal that Look Busy has a great chance.

Best Prices…

4:00 Chester Maxim Gorky could be the handicap good thing of the day. The Montjeu Colt won his maiden easily first time out and he could be much better than an 83 rated horse. With best odds guaranteed on offer I will take the early price as the market may see plenty of confidence in Maxim Gorky.

The horse is named after a Russian/Soviet author, a founder of the socialist realism literary method and a political activist, which is our cultural input for the day.

The last race is a maiden at 4:35 which is a guessing game in my view. I love the way they finish early so racegoers who are staying over can nip off to the town, get something to eat and then enjoy a night out!

Chester Cup Attracts Field of 17

Tastahil heads a maximum field of 17 runners in the totesport.com Chester Cup on Wednesday.

Picture

Tastahil was a disappointing last of 10 on his seasonal reappearance in the Further Flight Stakes at Nottingham, but bids to bounce back and give Barry Hills a second successive win in this marathon contest on the Roodee. Ante-post favourite Bernie The Bolt takes his chance for Andrew Balding, while other leading fancies such as Nemo Spirit, Swingkeel, Ajaan and Halla San – respective second and third 12 months ago – also line up.

The only two not declared from the confirmation stage were previous top-weight Munsef and Scottish Champion Hurdle winner Overturn. A few have missed the cut, however, including Dazinski and Theola, both trained by Mark Tompkins.

Judgethemoment and Aaim To Prosper are the respective first and second reserves. In a race in which a high draw is considered far from ideal, Bernie The Bolt is out in stall 15 and top-weight Tastahil is beside him in 16. The sole Irish raider is Dermot Weld’s Majestic Concorde, who breaks from the rail in stall one.

Others to have fared well in the draw include Swingkeel (four), Mamlook (five), Halla San (six) and Red Cadeaux (7).

The Professor on Saturday, 22nd August

York was fantastic, there is no better racecourse in the world. It is a special place and I have decided to have my ashes scattered on the Knavesmire. Speaking of the Ashes, Thursday was a poor display by some England batsmen but what a brilliant display in the field on friday! Come on England!

Saturday is a pretty decent day and here is what I will be backing;

5.10 Chester- Saga de Tercey, 2 Pts Win

This is the best bet of the day at Chester. A bumper win was followed by a maiden win. Then he was beaten in a ladies amateur race, finishing second, before winning a handicap with a proper jockey on last time. You can ignore that ladies race, I just strike them out of the form book and would rather give money to charity than bet in one of those. Neil Callan was on last time for a good win at Catterick and Shane Kelly gets the leg up with only four pounds extra to carry. I fancy the Swinbank horse, big style!

7.15 Bath- Golden Destiny, 2 Pts Win

Two wins means this one is chasing a hat-tick. Still looks well weighted to me and with Seb Sanders on top he will have his mind made up for him. Only 5 runners and I think we have a good one here, so another 2 points win. I would also advise a double, which you can do with a Betfair Multiple.

Good Luck.

I got an email asking if this was a picture of me, thanks, but NO!

The Professor on Friday, 21st August (York)

By The Professor

By The Professor

The Professor was studying hard on Thursday here at York! It was ladies day, and I met some lovely ladies as well as some that were definately no ladies! It was a really enjoyable day, even if early results didn’t go my way.

I love the Nunthorpe, it is the best race of the week for me and I am going to be having my biggest bet of the week here. I was saying to the lads that I have never fancied one for the Nunthorpe as much as I do this year. The two year olds get a really handy weight allowance, but only two have won it in recent years, Lyric Fantasy, a lovely horse and Kingsgate Native.

Having chatted to Carl [Harris] we agree entirely on this one so you are getting some repetition, but I can only tell you what I think, sometimes it will differ and sometimes it will be the same. Usually it covers different races! I will be giving you more than just Nunthorpe advice, but I want to get accross to you that Kingsgate Native is as good a bet as I have ever seen for this race. Some people have raised concerns about the form of the Stoute horses. Harbinger ran like a stuffed pig but the stable are having winners and I think they have not looked at the stats and are talking rubbish.

3.25 York, Kingsgate Native, 2 Pt Win

If you watch the Goodwood race and look at the time that was run in then you back Kingsgate Native. It is as simple as that. Better than ever and with Ryan Moore on board I amvey confident this is the Nunthorpe Winner!

Picture

Kingsgate Native can land the Nunthorpe.

3.40 Chester- Walk On Water, 2Pt Win

I have long thought that Henry Cecil could walk on water and he has a horse called Walk On Water (3.40) who I fancy to demolish this field. Cecil can train a filly (equine sort) better than anyone else and I hear this is one he really thinks a great deal about. Probably she will prove better than Listed in time and I will be having a nice touch here.

6.25 Salisbury- Big Audio, 1 Pt Win

Big Audio is a dynamite bet (that’s a pun for non music lovers) in the listed contest at Salisbury. Top man Richard Hughes is riding and surely a reproduction of the fourth in the Vintage Stakes will be good enough here. You have to think that it will take a big improver to beat him and I think we have got the winner here with Big Audio.
