I do hope the weather will stay dry, fine and sunny, all week in fact culminating in a wonderful Saturday at York, where I will definately be. As far as Monday is concerned, here are your Free Hroseracing Tips...

7:00 Beverley, Marjury Daw, Win. This is a prolific winner having won three times in a row, including last time out, and comes here under a penalty. Despite top weight and a six pound penalty to shoulder I am still of the view that JamesGiven’s filly will win this race, making it four from four.

7:30 Beverley, Polish World, Win. This is a competitive race but I think Polish world, back at Beverley can win. Three runs at the East Yorkshire track have yielded two winners and despite having struggled after a rise in the weights last time I think that Paul Midgley’s charge is worth another chance, back at Beverley.

I drove past Beverley on Monday, in the puring rain, but they were still watering the course, despite that I feel the going will still be on the fast side. Paul Hanagan rides at Beverley, before heading off to Musselburgh, no fewer than 11 rides on the day for the Champion Jockey contender.

2:30 Beverley Cono Zur, Win. Last time out at Redcar, Cono Zur trotted up by 9 lenghths in a claimer and was promptly claimed. It now runs in the Middleham Park racing colours for the Ruth Carr yard. Paul Hanagan gets the leg up and he should get another winner on the board. Over 7 furlongs, drawn 6 I have this down as my bet of the day. The form of the last race is easily good enough to take this. Best Bet Of The Day.



3:30 Beverley Tillietudlem, Win. With a rise in the weights of just 1lb for his latest Doncaster win Tillietudlem makes plenty of appeal in this decent stayers’ handicap at Beverley with Paul Hanagan in the saddle for Jim Goldie. The top Scotish trainer has placed his charge tremendously well this season, seeing him win five of his last six starts, and only just being touched off here in the other. Two miles on fast ground is ideal and that cosy half-length win last time marks him out as being good enough again today. He should provide another winner for the prolific Hanagan.

Jamie Spencer Won The Hillary needler Trophy

Dress Up Was Withdrawn At the Start, which was well backed to join favourite and was the selection of Viking Racing. Daryl Holland was thrown off his mount at the start and may have broken his collar bone.

A very eventful race, won by Kevin Ryan’s filly, on what as always was a great night at Beverley.

There was drama at the start when Darryll Holland was unshipped from Misty Moon on leaving the stalls, with the rider walking away holding his right arm.

Free Horseracing Tips for Wednesday

7:30 Beverley Geesala can provide Kevin Ryan with a second Hilary Needler Trophy at Beverley on Wednesday. The Hambleton handler won this historic Listed race four years ago with Roxan, and looks to have a similarly flashy filly with which to go to war. Despite the wide-open nature of this year’s renewal, Geesala has the best form in the book. A resilient winner on her debut at Pontefract, she was always destined for a step up in class, which duly followed at York. Her redoubtable fourth in the Listed Marygate Stakes on the Knavesmire – always an important early-season fillies’ heat – is therefore significant. She perhaps lacked the gears of the major players that day, but was staying on with real panache at the finish to suggest a step-up to six furlongs will soon be forthcoming. Given the demanding nature of Beverley’s uphill incline, Geesala’s stamina could hold the key to winning this five-furlong affair.

8:00 Beverley Coolminx should also be followed with interest in the Weatherbys Bloodstock Insurance Conditions Stakes. Richard Fahey’s filly is already a winner on the Westwood, and signed off her juvenile campaign with a brave second in the Listed Rockingham Stakes at York. Reported to have strengthened immeasurably during the winter, she is talented enough to defy a long absence in this five-furlong challenge.

2:30 Ffos Las Marlinka. Roger Charlton’s string continue to tick along nicely and the Beckhampton handler can chalk up another success with Marlinka, who runs at Ffos Las. The Marju filly – out of a half-sister to Soviet Song – was denied by a head on her debut at Windsor and, with that sighter in the bag, is open to any amount of experience. Charlton will be disappointed if she is not good enough to take the EBF/Free Racing With oddschecker.com Wednesday Maiden Stakes.



4:45 Ffos Las Shamali is a confident selection in the HM Plant Hitachi Handicap. William Haggas’ five-year-old must give weight away to each of his five rivals, but has enough class to clinically offset that burden. Shamali signed off last season with a breathless double at Ascot, and lost little in defeat on his return at Newmarket where he finished sixth in the Suffolk Stakes. He should remain competitive off a mark of 100, and will be far sharper than on his seasonal bow at Headquarters.

3:15 Ayr Whipma Whopma Gate can gain a deserved second win of the term at Ayr. Although the handicapper refuses to relent, she showed her well-being at Nottingham last time with a fine second behind Four Kicks. Despite having only won races with cut in the ground, she is versatile enough to comfortably handle the fast conditions in Scotland.

Hannon aims to land Hilary Needler at beverley

After seeing the likes of Paco Boy, Canford Cliffs and countless juveniles hit the mark in recent weeks, Hannon is hoping the Fasilyev filly can keep up the good run.

“The plan was to send Penny’s Pearl for the Listed race too but she got sick,” he said. However, I think Inagh River has what it takes to run a big race – she won well at Nottingham and was then only just chinned on the line by our own The Sydney Arms at Newbury. The fourth (Serena’s Pride) bolted up at Lingfield last Saturday, so there is nothing wrong with the form, and while we don’t have a brilliant draw (stall six), I hope she’ll be in the shake-up,” he told his website.

5:00 Kempton, Latansaa looks the best bet on a low-key Bank Holiday Monday card at Kempton. Tregoning’s horses were all wrong last season but they have started this campaign in great nick, which is good to see. This well-bred three-year-old is having his third start having shown enough ability already to suggest winning a maiden should be a formality. Third on his debut at Newbury last October, he filled the same position on his seasonal reappearance back in Berkshire in April. Beaten only three-quarters of a length two weeks ago, he should strip even fitter for that run. Those to have run look nothing out of the ordinary so hopefully Latansaa can open his account in the second division of the Victor Chandler Maiden.



2:55 Windsor Aspro Mavro; John Gosden’s string may not be in the same electric form they were at this time last year but he is still having his fair share of winners. The master of Clarehaven Stables sends Aspro Mavro to Windsor after a recent success at Yarmouth and he holds strong prospects of following up. One of Gosden’s lesser lights, it has taken a while for the penny to drop and he had to work very hard to open his account. That will have boosted his confidence and the return to a quicker surface should also suit in the It doesn’t Get Better Than Barbados Handicap.

3:25 Windsor Colonel Carter; Another to note could be Brian Meehan’s Colonel Carter, who actually won the maiden in which Latansaa finished third recently. He takes his chance in the Virgin Holidays Handicap.

3:20 Beverley King Fingal can atone for a recent near-miss at Pontefract in the Beverley Rotary Club Handicap. He has been campaigned almost exclusively at a mile and a half recently but he is without a win since he last ran over 10 furlongs back in October 2008. That came off exactly the same mark and with the improving Ian Brennan taking a useful 5lb off, he must have a good chance.

3:50 Beverley Just Lille could run well at a big price in the Garden Fete In The Course Enclosure Handicap. Ann Duffield has experimented with the mare by running her over staying trips but despite winning over a mile and three-quarters at Warwick, arguably her best form is over shorter. She has certainly dropped to a winnable mark.

It was pleasing that both of my bets won yesterday, but the SP was woeful, in both cases. The early prices were generous and a double, at at early odds made it quite a respectable day. Tuesday is rarely a great day for both quality and for betting opportunities. There is not a great deal of either on offer today but I think I have found a profit tucked away amongst Tuesdays cards.

2.20 Folkstone- Ruthie Babe, Win

Ruthie Babe (2.20) should get the Folkstone card off to a winning start.  William Haggas’ filly ran out a good winner at Ffos Las last week and has the benefit of Michael Hills today as well as a six pounds penalty. The stable continues in good form and a quick fire double is on the cards in what looks a very winnable race.

3.30 Beverley- Captain Dunne, Win

The best bet of the day though is at Beverley, who stage their final fixture of the season. Captain Dunne (3.30) looks to have very strong claims in a very good conditions race. The key looks the drop back to five furlongs following a near miss in the Portalnd handicap, over six at Doncaster last time. Tim Easterby’s four year-old was just caught in the dying strides of that highly competitive handicap. Draw eight of nine is ideal and I am taking the Captain to confirm his length’s beating of Ishetoo, at Doncaster, who has to contend with stall two today. I would urge modest stakes but Captain Dunne is fully expected to win today.

The Professor is off to Beverley today

My two bets at Beverley are;

4.50 Beverley- Upton Seas, Win

I don’t know where Mick Easterby got this one from, but he has improved it. Two runs for the yard and two wins. The handicapper is still trying to catch up with this one and has put the filly up 9 pounds for her win at Thirsk, having already added 7 to her mark for winning over today’s course and distance. If I know Mick, and having punted his horses for years, the market will tell you if this is going to win or not. If it drifts, don’t bother, but I would image that the opposite will be the case and it may be worth getting on early.

5.20 Beverley- Fossgate, Win

Named after a street in York, Fossgate was streets ahead of the rest last time at Ripon and carries a penalty for that easy win. Neil Callan is given the ride today, huge positive for this course and distance winner who is right back to form and is on a good mark. Mister Fizzbomb was a good winner last time too and is the one to worry about but Fossgate, I think is on a good mark and runs well at Beverley. Fossgate for me.

Both are 1 point wins.
