Fridays Free Horseracing Tips, 17 September

It’s the start of a really decent weekend of horseracing with good cards at both Ayr and at Newbury. Poets Place I see was the last out of the draw for the Ayr Gold Cup on Thursday, but I think it will be the first past the post on Saturday, 6-1 looks great value, get on now!

Delegator returns to action….. Free Horseracing Tips for Thursday…

2:35 Newbury, Delegator, Win. Despite an absence of 314 days Delegator should make a winning return to action in what is I race beneath his true grade. This is a group one horse and if fully fit, which he should be coming from the Godolphin stable, he should win this and get his career back on track. He has an official rating of 121 which is well ahead of anything else in the field with I think the main danger being Yaa Wayl who ran very well at York four weeks ago and runs here receiving weight, but it will be a big disappointment I think to connections is Delegator didn’t win.

3:10 Newbury, Rainbow Peak, Win. This race is billed as an Arc trial which is in truth a bit of a joke. I have not gone back in history but am prepared to eat my hat if a winner of this race has ever gone on to win the Arc. That said it stacks up as a decent group 3 contest and I am very much in the Rainbow Peak Camp. I am a big fan of Neil Callan but I have to say I don’t think his ride on Michael Jarvis’s four-year-old was his finest hour when second by a neck at York, I think Frankie Dettori got the better of him that day when Rainbow Peak should really have won the race. Today there it is another Godolphin horse who poses the main danger in receipt of seven pounds this race is there for the taking for Rainbow Peak, especially as Ted Durcan takes the ride on the top weight.

3:55 Ayr, Krypton Factor, Win. Krypton Factor should continue his winning streak with our win in a listed company with Seb Sanders making the long trip north of the border to ride for trainer Sir Mark Prescott. With a rating of 100 and still improving I make this one my best bet of the day, it would be a big shock were this one not to prevail. Seb Sanders is your archetypal no-nonsense jockey who gives absolutely everything whether it be a seller or the Derby and rarely, if ever, makes a tactical mistake. I think we can go for a nice tickle here!

Good luck!

Poet’s Place Favourite for Saturdays Ayr Gold Cup

A bumper field of 173 contenders have stood their ground at the five-day declaration stage for this weekend’s William Hill Ayr Gold Cup.

Poet's Place Wins Portland and Now heads to Ayr

Poet’s Place – who took the favourite’s mantle following his win on Saturday – remains the 11-2 favourite with the sponsors, ahead of 8-1 chance Hawkeyethenoo – who ranks as the most consistently backed runner in the field with Hills.

Other well-supported contenders include the in-form Victoire de Lyphar (10-1), last year’s tenth Redford (16-1), and Irish Heartbeat (16-1) – who bids for a unique ‘William Hill’ double following his Spring Mile win earlier this year.

Kate Miller, spokeswoman for William Hill, said: ‘’The William Hill Ayr Gold Cup is maintaining its reputation of one of the most frenetic betting heats of the year with a number of well-supported contenders. Hawkeyethenoo rates as the most popular runner with punters, and could be a ‘tartan terror’ for us come Saturday.’’

William Hill Ayr Gold Cup: 5-1 Poet’s Place, 8-1 Hawkeyethenoo, 10-1 Victoire De Lyphar, 11-1 Genki, 12-1 Definightly, 14-1 Jonny Mudball, 16-1 Evens And Odds, Irish Heartbeat, Redford, 20-1 Hitchens, Jimmy Styles, Kaldoun Kingdom, Rileyskeepingfaith, Tajneed, 25-1 Advanced, Bonnie Charlie, Castles In The Air, Dafeef, Damika, Knot In Wood, Noverre To Go, Parisian Pyramid, Prime Exhibit, Quest For Success, Secret Asset, Signor Peltro, Tiddliwinks, 33-1 Arganil, Baby Strange, Baldemar, Barney McGrew, Brae Hill, Colonel Mak, Courageous, Damien, Empirico, Favourite Girl, Five Star Junior, Flipando, Gilt Edge Girl, Global City, Hogmaneigh, Hotham, Imperial Guest, Ingleby Lady, Johannes, Joseph Henry, Lowdown, Manassas, Misplaced Fortune, Partner, Sarasota Sunshine, Sea Of Leaves, Something, Sonny Red, Striking Spirit, Tombi, Waveband, (EW 1/4 1,2,3,4)

Bekhabad is now the clear 3-1 favourite for the Prix de L’Arc de Triomphe with William Hill following the runnings of the Prix Niel, Foy, and Vermeille in Paris this afternoon.

Reacting to the Longchamp trials Hills now offer 3-1 (from 5-1) about Jean-Claude Rouget’s charge, promoting him ahead of 4-1 chance Fame and Glory – who has been an uneasy market leader in recent days.

Midday – whose participation in the Autumn showpiece is currently unknown – was also cut to 10-1 from 16-1, but slashed to even money from 7-4 for a repeat win in the Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare a month later.

Kate Miller, spokeswoman for William Hill, said: ‘’The signs all suggest that this year’s Arc renewal is tremendously open, but today’s trials are usually key to pinpointing the winner. We suspect that Bekhabad’s performance in the Prix Niel could prove to be the predominant Arc trial.’’

Wednesdays Free Horseracing Tips, 26 May

Another busy day on Wednesday with the big two year-old being the Hilary Needler Trophy at Beverley. It is always a great night at Beverley on Hilary Needler night. Your Free Horseracing Tips for Wednesday, today are by Chris Wilson, Press Association Sport Staff.

Free Horseracing Tips for Wednesday

7:30 Beverley Geesala can provide Kevin Ryan with a second Hilary Needler Trophy at Beverley on Wednesday. The Hambleton handler won this historic Listed race four years ago with Roxan, and looks to have a similarly flashy filly with which to go to war. Despite the wide-open nature of this year’s renewal, Geesala has the best form in the book. A resilient winner on her debut at Pontefract, she was always destined for a step up in class, which duly followed at York. Her redoubtable fourth in the Listed Marygate Stakes on the Knavesmire – always an important early-season fillies’ heat – is therefore significant. She perhaps lacked the gears of the major players that day, but was staying on with real panache at the finish to suggest a step-up to six furlongs will soon be forthcoming. Given the demanding nature of Beverley’s uphill incline, Geesala’s stamina could hold the key to winning this five-furlong affair.

8:00 Beverley Coolminx should also be followed with interest in the Weatherbys Bloodstock Insurance Conditions Stakes. Richard Fahey’s filly is already a winner on the Westwood, and signed off her juvenile campaign with a brave second in the Listed Rockingham Stakes at York. Reported to have strengthened immeasurably during the winter, she is talented enough to defy a long absence in this five-furlong challenge.

2:30 Ffos Las Marlinka. Roger Charlton’s string continue to tick along nicely and the Beckhampton handler can chalk up another success with Marlinka, who runs at Ffos Las. The Marju filly – out of a half-sister to Soviet Song – was denied by a head on her debut at Windsor and, with that sighter in the bag, is open to any amount of experience. Charlton will be disappointed if she is not good enough to take the EBF/Free Racing With oddschecker.com Wednesday Maiden Stakes.

4:45 Ffos Las Shamali is a confident selection in the HM Plant Hitachi Handicap. William Haggas’ five-year-old must give weight away to each of his five rivals, but has enough class to clinically offset that burden. Shamali signed off last season with a breathless double at Ascot, and lost little in defeat on his return at Newmarket where he finished sixth in the Suffolk Stakes. He should remain competitive off a mark of 100, and will be far sharper than on his seasonal bow at Headquarters.

3:15 Ayr Whipma Whopma Gate can gain a deserved second win of the term at Ayr. Although the handicapper refuses to relent, she showed her well-being at Nottingham last time with a fine second behind Four Kicks. Despite having only won races with cut in the ground, she is versatile enough to comfortably handle the fast conditions in Scotland.

The World Cup is Coming….

Fridays Horseracing Tips, 16 April

Your Free Horseracing Tips from Racing Diary for Friday with the meeting at Newbury taking centre stage, get on now.

Bullet Train ( 3.15 Newbury) can take the next step along the road to bigger things with victory in the Dubai Duty Free Golf World Cup Conditions Stakes at Newbury.

Picture

Entered at the latest supplementary stage for the Derby at a cost of £8,000, the Henry Cecil-trained colt was sent off favourite to win on his debut at Yarmouth last year and rewarded the support with a cosy short-head success over another newcomer, Lion Mountain. That was over a mile and as there is plenty of stamina in his pedigree, this step up to a mile and a quarter looks certain to suit. It is also worth noting Cecil has a tremendous record in this race in recent years, winning it in 2007 with subsequent Oaks heroine Light Shift.

Gertrude Bell (5.30 Newbury) is another who will appreciate a trip this season and she is the pick in division two of the Robert Sangster Memorial Maiden Fillies’ Stakes. Her third to Timepiece at Lingfield last year marked her out as having ability and she found only a nice sort of Godolphin’s too good next time out.

An Oaks-entered daughter of Sinndar, all her three runs as a juvenile came at a mile and she was keeping on well at the end of them all. With that in mind, this 10 furlongs looks a good starting point for the year. Jeremy Noseda might just be plotting a path to something very decent with Rebel Soldier and he will take all the beating in the Dubai Duty Free Full of Surprises Handicap if the evidence of his sole run to date is anything to go by.

He dismissed future winner Gumnd with ease at Lingfield in February and looks to have the ability to repay a big chunk of his hefty price tag.

Hindu Kush (4.55 Newbury) can defy top-weight in the Bathwick Tyres Handicap. Dropped 3lb following his third at Ffos Las on his first run for Ian Williams, he can take advantage of that as he pulled far too hard last time and is better than he showed there, where he was supported in the market. Rated as high as 104 last year, he looks handicapped to win off a mark of 78 if he can channel his energy in the right way. David Evans ranks Bathwick Bear at the top of his juvenile team and there will be long faces if he is turned over in the EBF Habton Novice Stakes at Thirsk, while West Emirates can end a run of three consecutive seconds in the betdaq.co.uk Handicap at Kempton’s evening meeting.

Restless Harry (5.35 Cheltenham) suffered a crashing fall at the last in the Albert Bartlett at the Festival but a good run in the victorchandler.com Novices’ Hurdle back at Cheltenham can restore his confidence. The six-year-old was a Grade Two winner here in January and while this race comes at the end of a testing campaign, he should prove smart enough before enjoying a likely break.

Shadow Dancer (1.45) can strike for Jonjo O’Neill in the Artemis, The Profit Hunter Supporting Poppyscotland Novices’ Handicap Hurdle at Ayr, with Herons Well the choice in the Hoops And Jenkinsons Caterers Novices’ Chase at Uttoxeter.

Through The Cards….

AYR: 1.45 Shadow Dancer, 2.20 Star Beat, 2.50 Federstar, 3.25 Chaninbar, 4.00 Double Hit, 4.35 Marleybow, 5.10 Sure Josie Sure.

CHELTENHAM: 5.00 De Boitron, 5.35 Restless Harry, 6.10 Woolcombe Folly, 6.45 Kennel Hill, 7.20 Sherwoods Folly, 7.50 Song Of Songs.

DUNDALK: 6.25 Clondinnery, 6.55 Cinnin Oir, 7.25 Miss Velocity, 7.55 Ice Empress, 8.25 Secretariat’s Soul, 8.55 Sky Mystic, 9.25 Behtarini.

KEMPTON: 6.25 Papageno, 7.00 West Emirates, 6.30 Caramelita, 8.00 Trachonitis, 8.30 Avertor, 9.00 Global Village.

NEWBURY: 1.35 Prophet In A Dream, 2.10 Rebel Soldier, 2.40 Elnawin, 3.15 BULLET TRAIN (NAP), 3.50 Fashion Flow, 4.25 Tymora, 4.55 Hindu Kush, 5.30 Gertrude Bell.

THIRSK: 2.00 Bathwick Bear, 2.30 Imperial Waltzer, 3.05 Regeneration, 3.40 Faithful Duchess, 4.15 Mandarin Spirit, 4.45 Medici Time, 5.20 Sir Nod, 5.50 Bo McGinty.

Free Horseracing Tips

By Carl Harris

The flat kicks off on Saturday with The Lincoln and also the Dubai World Cup. So Thursdays jumps action looks a bit lame by comparison. Certainly there isnt much in the way of quality on show, but I am hoping we can have another winner.

Noun De La Thinte was back to winning ways for us on Wednesday. She is a game mare, the type of horse you would love to own, she is a winning machine! 2-1 in a four horse race, that will do.

Here are Thursdays Free Horseracing Tips;

3:15 Ayr, Overturn- Win. The Donald McCain stable are in good form, certainly Peddlers Cross winning at Cheltenham (and we were on) showed just how far they have come since Donald took over from his father Ginger.

Overturn was a good winner last time over course and distance and for me, despite giving weight all round, looks the one to be on in this novice hurdle. Overturn to win at Ayr is my best bet of the day.

Free Horseracing Tips

Doncaster on Saturday for the William Hill Lincoln

4:00 Chepstow, Star Galaxy- Win. Only a four horse race but it looks a competitive affair so hopefully that will stimulate a fairly decent price. Star Galaxy is chasing hat-trick for the small but effective Flint yard. Father and son team up again, the pair have a great strike rate, and for me Star Galaxy should win again.

I will not be getting hugely involved here, indeed today, but I think this is one worth backing on what looks a poor day in truth.

Wednesdays Horseracng Tips, 2 November

By Carl Harris

By Carl Harris

Three jumps meetings with Ayr, Catterick and Plumpton staging cards of varying quality. Catterick is a pretty grim place to go, even in summer, but in winter it is particularly desperate. A few quid invested in the track is badly needed but that said there is an interesting card there today.

Kempton stages an all-weather meeting under the lights, which once again is not for me. I am sticking to the jumps which has allowed me to put more time in to the cards, with less to study, and has paid handsome dividends so far. The weekend is once again shaping up as very good. The Tingle Creek will be a great race and is up for grabs now Master Minded is absent.

Here are my best bets for Wednesday.

12:50 Ayr, Bedlam Boy- Win. Ferdy Murphy has definitely changed his early season training regime, if results are any indication. Bedlam boy was an easy winner on his chase debut last month at Carlisle and can follow-up here. He should strip fitter for that win in what looks a pretty poor race with the only worry being whether we can get a decent price for the layers.  A banker bet today is Bedlam Boy.

14:05 Plumpton, Carrickmines- Win. A winner last week, a very easy one by eighteen lengths, Carrickmines is sure to go up significantly in the weights and therefore is out again under a penalty. His six opponents are not in winning form and it looks as though the race is at the mercy of Dr Newland’s charge with the excellent Daryl Jacob in the saddle.

Master Minded misses Tingle Creek

Master Minded misses Tingle Creek

14:35 Plumpton, Shore Thing- Win. No price, one for the multi-bets but another that I like to double up my bets with for a nice Brucie bonus on winnings.

14:15 Catterick, Alegralil- Win. Again no great prices on offer but Donald McCain has a decent mare on his hands. She has won two bumpers and made a very pleasing start over hurdles at Towcester. The old adage about Towcester form certainly doesn’t apply here as she looks a genuine top class performer who will readily give weight away to this field and win. If the price is attractive then Alegralil is the best bet of the day.

Carl Harris’ Best Bets or Wednesday 2 December

  • 12:50 Ayr, Bedlam Boy- Win
  • 14:05 Plumpton, Carrickmines- Win
  • 14:15 Catterick, Alegralil- Win.
  • 14:35 Plumpton, Shore Thing- Win

I am here at Ayr for the second day of the Western Meeting and I was already down a few quid, even before racing started. I didn’t pack enough warm clothing, it’s like winter, so I had to get a decent jumper and coat. My fault, so I will be looking to get the M and S expenses back.

Some pretty good, but very competitive, racing. The Bronze Cup is run on Friday, for horses that don’t get in to the Ayr Gold Cup.

Here are my two bets for you today.

2.55 Ayr- Comedy Hall, 1pt Win

Bolted up in a Catterick maiden, by five lengths, and runs in a handicap for the first time off a mark of 87. Seems fair and could be a very good horse. Competitive race though, 1 point win.

The Professor is under orders at Ayr

3.30 Ayr- Mister Manannan, 2Pt Win.

This is, I think a seriously good bet. Third in the Flying Childers at Doncaser with a few of today’s rivals behind. A very good horse who drops in grade and deserves a win.

Good luck. Get your Betfair free bet, I love this, you can choose your team, get the odds and compare odds, brilliant, have a go…

I have arrived at Ayr for the Western Meeting. I am looking forward to the Ayr Gold Cup on Saturday, and am really interested in Knot in Wood at this early stage but we will have to wait until Thursday for the final declarations.

The opening day at Ayr is a bit tricky, to say the least, it is in fact very difficult. I have one very strong bet at Ayr and one at Pontefract for you on this wonderful Thursday.

3.20 Ayr- Simenon, 2pt Win

I like class droppers and Simenon (3.20) takes a big class drop after running in the Solario Stakes last time out. That race is a group three contest and having run with credit I feel he will take a good deal of beating. Andrew Balding has had a just gone off the boil of late, but Simenon looks a strong bet to make the long trip worth it.

Two Bets on Thursday

Two Bets on Thursday

4.00 Pontefract- Russian Spirit, 1pt Win

I like a bit of Russian Spirit (4.00), in fact I like most spirits but Russian Spirit looks rock solid at Ponte. Michael Jarvis won the race in 2008 and can double up here with this progressive three year-old. A win and a second on her last two outings at Doncaster show that she is on a good mark, running again from an untouched 81 I really fancy her in this very winnable contest.

See you tomorrow!
