Andy Murray To Land Australian Open?

ANDY MURRAY is the 11/10 outsider to beat Novak Djokovic in the final of the Australian Open, according to Ladbrokes.

Andy Murray In Australian Final

The Scot completed a four-set semi-final victory to set up another Grand Slam final in Melbourne – and the bookies are dreading the prospect of their first major patriotic payout in tennis for decades.

David Williams of Ladbrokes said: “Murray is nearly always a shocking result for the bookies. He now has a following to rival Henman in his heyday and we’ll make no apologies for cheering on Djokovic.”

Ladbrokes offered a standout 8/1 about Murray winning the tournament earlier this month and another top-price 9/1 about the Serbian who is now the 4/6 favourite to triumph Down Under.

“With Federer and Nadal out of the way we fancied our chances of grabbing the cash, but we’re out of the frying pan and into the fire with Murray and Djokovic set to slog it out” added Williams.

Andy Murray Evens to Win First Grand Slam

Andy Murray beat Marin Cilic in four sets to reach his first Australian Open final. Murray lost the first set but hit back in impressive style to see off the number 14 seed and set up a final clash with Roger Federer or Jo-Wilfried Tsonga. Murray now had the wind in his sails, and there was a little Cilic could do to stop the fifth seed.

Two more breaks helped Murray take a 5-1 lead in the fourth, and two games later he was serving for the match. With victory in his sight and no sign of any nerves, a long return from Cilic eventually handed the Briton the set 6-2 and a place in the final.
