John Terry hopes to play in the FA Cup final on Saturday after a scan showed no broken bone in his right foot. Chelsea look for their first ever double, all they have to do is beat Portsmouth.

The Chelsea skipper hurt his foot in training on Wednesday morning, leading to fears that he may have broken a metatarsal, but a scan has revealed no major problem. Terry said in a statement: “I took a slight knock in training but with such an important match on Saturday the right course of action was to put a protective boot on my right foot and have a CT scan.

Its top v bottom, Chelsea are obvious favourites and on paper this should be a no contest. On-loan Portsmouth midfielder Jamie O’Hara will decide with manager Avram Grant whether to play in the FA Cup final against Chelsea on Saturday. The Tottenham man would ordinarily be told to rest for eight weeks because of two stress fractures in his lower back.

Who will wear blue? After a toss of a coin, it was Chelsea who won and will wear their home strip, in the home dressing room. No omens there, but really you can’t see past Chelsea, no long write ups needed it is a Chelsea win and an easy one at that in my view.

Role Up For The £10 Million FA Cup Final!

William Hill are expecting industry turnover of ten million pounds plus for the FA Cup final as the Big punters are expected to come steaming in for 1/6 favourites Chelsea. “On paper the game is a mismatch but we think our high rollers will come steaming in for Chelsea to bolster their World Cup betting accounts,” said Hill’s spokesman Rupert Adams.

One Hills punter from Hampshire stands to win £3000 should Portsmouth win, having backed them at 150/1 with £20 early on in the tournament but it is the Chelsea double that Hills fear with some massive liabilities.

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has dismissed speculation that he might confirm his retirement at the end of next season. Not for the first time in his illustrious career, Ferguson has been at the centre of intense speculation about his date of retirement.

United key man, Rooney

The latest rumours suggest the Scot will vacate the Manchester United hotseat at the end of next season, to be replaced by either Jose Mourinho or David Moyes. Ferguson generally reacts with either irritation or amusement to talk of his retirement.

Today however Sir Alex will only have one thing on his mind, beating Spurs at Old Trafford to pile on the pressure on Chelsea who face Stoke on Sunday at Stamford Bridge. There is only one point in it at the top of the Premier League.

Wes Brown returns to the Manchester United squad for Saturday’s Barclays Premier League encounter with Tottenham at Old Trafford. Brown has recovered from the broken foot he suffered at Wolves at the beginning of March but is available to bolster Sir Alex Ferguson‘s defensive options.

With Chelsea not in action until Sunday, United have the chance to reclaim the Premier League’s top spot for 24 hours but Owen Hargreaves will not be involved as his planned comeback has been delayed by a calf strain.

Winger Aaron Lennon could return for Tottenham for the first time in almost four months. He will not start but is expected to be on the bench and manager Harry Redknapp says he “could get 20 minutes”. Nico Kranjcar and Vedran Corluka (both ankle) are both still out but Ledley King has a chance of returning and Jermaine Jenas has recovered from a virus.

Betting…

The bookmakers are giving nothing away! Manchester United (1/2) Draw (7/2)Tottenham (7) I think United will win, they should win and therefore I will not be opposing them. Here are the best odds for the game.

Live game odds ( Man Utd v Tottenham, Match Odds ) by InrunningOdds.com

I think that Rooney to score is a good bet and that United will win this 2-0. It should be a great game!

Out of form Liverpool take on Birmingham at Anfield in front of the ESPN cameras on Monday evening. Liverpool have won just once in their last eight games. Their Champions League ambitions are in tatters and they are all but out of the league championship race already. at 1/3 Liverpool are a no bet price, only a very brave punter would be on at that price, in my view.

Liverpool 4/11, Birmingham 10/1, Draw 7/2.

Laying Liverpool at 1.35 on Betfair must be a cheap lay, with the reds in such a poor vein of form. I am going to take a chance that the Anfield woes continue, Birmingham at 10/1 is a great price. The pundits seem to think it could be a draw which is a very good looking 7/2 but for me I will Lay Liverpool and have a small bet on Birmingham at 10/1.

Henry Kibirige is back to preview today’s game between Stoke and Manchester United at the Britannia Stadium. Henry Kibirige www.manunitedview.co.uk

Manchester United are looking for an away win at Stoke

Stoke are turning into the new Bolton during Sam Allardyce’s era. They’re that team who despite not having the most gifted players, they still manage to make the game very difficult for the opponent when on home soil. Getting a draw at the Brittania stadium is now a “decent result”, however with the goal scoring form Manchester United are in, a win will definitely be on Fergie’s agenda.

On the pitch, Stoke have tall, strong and quick players who will hassle the best of midfields into mistakes. The BBC claimed that the Stoke fans last year were another important reason as to why Stoke stayed in the league. They went as far as labeling them “the best supporters in the league.” The BBC failed to realise that the size of the Brittania stadium means that they have an advantage over other teams. With the ground being so small and stands being close to the pitch, the acoustics are very good, which means that an atmosphere can be easily generated and maintained.

Manchester United match going supporters would have first hand evidence to show that the Stoke fans really aren’t the best at all. When they visited Old Trafford, the only songs coming out of the away end was the usual small time “You’re not from Manchester”, “shall we sing a song for you etc… with very little being sang about the team they’re meant to be supporting. These are meant to be Stoke’s hardcore away support as well.

Away from home, Manchester United‘s support is regarded as one of the best by fans up and down the country. Everton and Spurs also have a much better away following than Stoke.

Football wise, after 6 games Tony Pulis’ side find themselves 10th in the league. They’ve lost two games so far, but both were against top 4 opposition. The first was a 4-0 hammering at Anfield, before losing to Chelsea in the last minutes at the Brittania. Players to look out for includes Shawcross, the ex United defender who has matured into a good defender since he went there.

Fergie hasn’t got any fresh injury concerns to worry about, and even more good news came when it was estimated that Hargreaves might be back in action in a month’s times.

It won’t be an easy game, but the better side will win tomorrow, and if everything goes to plan then it will be United.

Foster

O’Shea Vidic Ferdinand Evra

Valencia Fletcher Anderson Nani

Rooney Berbatov

Stoke 0-2 Manchester United. Berbatov first scorer

England boss Fabio Capello has thanked Slaven Bilic for providing the team-talk ahead of their World Cup qualifier and will simply tell his players to remember what the Croatia manager has branded them.

Capello- talking tough

Bilic has suggested that England have lost their “Englishness” under Capello, which the Italian feels has motivated his squad. So Capello used it to his advantage. Capello said,

“Thank you Mr Bilic It is the best. I have no need to motivate my players after this. It’s fantastic assistance. You have to remember what Bilic said. In Croatia we played very well and won 4-1. We played a lot of good games for qualification and won seven games, improving in every game. A team like England not qualifying for a Euro or World Cup is really a terrible thing for the players and the clubs,” Capello added. “For that reason I think the motivation we will have is more important.“

Italy seem to have come to South Africa to win the Confederation Cup and look like the team to go through to face Spain in the final and Egypt are unlikely to pose a major threat today. Despite Egypt scoring three against Brazil, the Italian defence pose a much more solid barrier for Egypt and we take Italy to win this by a single goal 0-1.

Cannavaro should return to the middle of the defence for Italy and surely Giuseppe Rossi must start today, whilst Egypt’s Al Muhamadi serves a one match ban and Ahmed Eid impressed as a substitute in the last game and should be worth a place.

Italy at 1.77 on Betfair is great value for a team that have come here to win and play a team that are struggling to get back to their African Cup of Nations form and we will be taking these odds as well as the 8.0 for Italy to win 0-1.

We will wait for the line-ups before taking a player to score, but Giuseppe Rossi looks value at the 2.54 available on Betfair.

The USA must beat Brazil to maintain a chance of qualifying from Group B, but have only ever beaten Brazil at home, whilst Brazil must demonstrate a better defensive side to their game against the USA for us to believe that they are 2/1 chances to win this competition. and I have layed Brazil at 3.1 on Betfair, because they must beat the Italians to avoid Spain in the semis and still beat Spain in the final.

USA captain Carlos Bocanegra is awaiting a recall after sitting out the opening defeat to Italy with a hamstring strain, Ricardo Clark is suspended, with DaMarcus Beasley and Sacha Kljestan vying to take his place in midfield whilst Brazilian coach Dunga could make several changes; defender Juan is likely to be rested, having only recently returned from a hamstring injury.

The Brazil performance against Egypt was unconvincing, but the USA have a packed summer schedule, including the CONCACAF finals and a crucial World Cup qualifier against Mexico, the Confederation Cup will be low on the list of the priorities and we take Brazil to squeak this one at 1.34 on Betfair.

The USA are a better defensive outfit than Egypt and the 0-1 and 0-2 are both around 8.2 on Befair and the 0-1 probably offers the better trading opportunity in a game that may be closer than many think.

Why not check out Bet Angel and Soccer Mystic by clicking the link below, it really is THE best way to bet and trade on Betfair.

USA Vs Italy live on BBC3, 7-30 pm Monday 15th June 2009

Italy arrive at the Confederation Cup with a very strong squad and a formidable record in qualification for the World Cup 2010 and should have too much for the USA team. I expect this game to be competetive and combative and ticks all my boxes for a great game to watch provided that Marcello Lippi doesnt field too many of the younger players that he expects to take with him to the World Cup next year.

This is Italy’s first entry into the Confederation Cup and so we should hope that they have come to win it. Italy are 5.3 on Betfair to win the tournament outright and 2.68 to win this stronger group and if Brazil fail to impress earlier in the day (perhaps due to wanting to be on holiday or concentrate on new contracts for next season) then these could prove to be lucrative odds for a one-off Final between Spain and Italy. Betfair is all about finding value so watch Brazil carefully, form an opinion and give the Italians serious consideration.

The USA have won four from their last six games but this disguises the fact that they were poor against Honduras and Costa Rica in last week’s World Cup qualifiers and would need to improve dramatically from that form to get past Italy. The Italians never seem to be prolific scorers and I take them to win this 2-0 which is available at 6.8 on Betfair and may also provide a good trading opportunity after a first goal.
Probable scorers is always difficult with the Italians, but Luca Toni at 2.48 would be my only selection provided that he starts and looks interesting to score either the first or the last goal at 4/1 with William Hill. UNDER 2.5 GOALS is available at 1.77 on Betfair with the safer option of UNDER 3.5 at a skinny 1.29.

Live on BBCi, Sunday, 14th June 2009, 3pm Kick-off

The Confederation Cup opener between hosts South Africa and Iraq promises to be like many other international football competition openers and a battle to “not lose” rather than an effort to win and get some scores on the doors.

Iraq are on the rise and have beaten both China and Australia recently, whilst South Africa have won just two from their last six and a win against Equitorial Guinea hardly counts as a win at all!

This is a banana skin waiting to happen for the hosts and even a draw would make South Africa’s qualification for the next stage a difficult task because it would all come down to how many these teams concede against Spain and how many they score against New Zealand!

I’m on the draw at 4.2 on Betfair, in spades! South Africa are simply too short at 1.64 and I supsect there will be serious money to lay them at that price.

Openers are rarely goal fests and I am also taking the 0-0 and will trade it on Betfair for a profit around 30 minutes into the game if it pans out as expected although a livelier affair will see me cut my losses and take my money at an earlier stage.

My model has the 0-0 at 12.0 currently and at 30 minutes I expect to lay that off at around 5.5 for a profit across the board. Interestingly, the draw should be trading at 2.5 just after half time and I am looking to hold the draw to this point in a three runner race, since a goal from Iraq would have little impact on the trading position.

This promises to be a trading game and that’s exactly what I will do by taking Iraq to qualify out of the group and being quick off the mark and laying it back if the Iraqi’s fail to live up to my expectations.

The best way to trade on Betfair is to use Bet Angel the API for Betfair that also gives you football trading software into the bargain, so if you fancy trading with Bet Angel then follow the link below and take either a full subscription or a trial subscription on this superior way to trade bets!
