Nathan Lynch of From The Horses Mouth has some interesting tips for you on Monday…

Free Horseracing Tips from Nathan Lynch

One of the lowest quality fields anywhere on Monday has to be that of the 4.15 at Lingfield. This race is full of exposed types that have all had their fair chance of reaching the limelight except for one of them being the lightly raced wide margin last start winner Dane Cottage who seeks to make it 2 wins on end here.

The 3yo Beat Hollow filly last start looked highly impressive last start beating up on a 3yo seller field at Leicester scoring by a widening 11l when different riding tactics were employed by connections. The bare form through the winning margin suggests she improved on her previous form in leaps and bounds and that is backed up by the time she ran (only 0.43s below standard). Since t5hen she has been raised 6lbs in the handicap but that is offset here by the 7lb claim for Adam Beschizza who this season has a 12% strike rate in turf races.

Dane Cottage being lightly raced should hold that new level now and easily account for her foes here in what as earlier stated in realistically a weak race. Orsett Lad & Mr Maximus look the only 2 capable of troubling her but they both need to produce career best efforts to do so.

Dane Cottage should make it 2 wins on end here and at the 3.20 being bet on the exchanges currently represents good value. We have her marked up as a 2.50 chance in this field.

For more value picks daily for UK, USA & AUS racing go to www.fromthehorsesmouth.com.au

A betting move worth making note of early in Monday betting action is the money that has come for the David Nicholls trained Tres Amigos in the 3.30 at Wolverhampton.

The 3yo Exceed And Excel colt switches back to the AW for the 1st time this campaign after failing miserably on turf in stronger races at its last 3 starts. At the end of its 2yo campaign last year it bolted up at Southwell over 7f by 4l and gets in very well weighted here on that performance. Considering the fact it made all on the front end that day the drop back from 7f to 6f here has to be of major benefit.

The stable has been agonizingly close over the last week in a lot of races with Striking Spirit, Joseph Henry and City Dancer all at good odds. Maybe this is the big priced winner that so desperately await them.

His form says he can win if he can refind his best back on the AW. Il Forno, Novay Essjay and Admin shape as the logical dangers to his chances.

He is easily available at 9.0 on the exchanges currently, good each way odds about a horse proven against much stronger.

Cape Quarter – Attractively Weighted

The 3.15 at Lingfield on Monday sees Aegean Shadow all the rage and deservedly so the way he has flashed big closing pars winning 2 from 2 this term but there is one that lurks down in the weights that has big scope for improvement and will go around an attractive quote that warrants specking. That horse is Cape Quarter.

Aegean Shadow trades at 1.95 & Cape Quarter trades at 15.0 early on Betfair so the obvious value lies with Cape Quarter.

Cape Quarter comes into this race 3rd up from a spell on the back of two average runs this time in but both of those runs were on turf but his best form was on the AW last season. On debut Cape Quarter flashed home with eye catching closing pars beaten 2.7l by Star Links over this track and distance as a 2yo in October 2008. Then he reappeared as a 3yo last season at Southwell and annexed a 7f 3yo 5K maiden scoring by 0.5l. That day he was very green when asked to extend but quickly put the issue beyond doubt suggesting big scope for further improvement.

He is very well bred by Elusive Quality out of the Sadler’s Wells mare June Moon and is closely related to two German 2000 Guineas winners.

He gets in here carrying 19lbs less than Aegean Shadow which is a big weight pull under the circumstances. With that in mind the 15.0 or better that will be bet about this son of Elusive Quality looks rather attractive.

Bajan Tryst – Live Chance At Odds

The 2.45 at Lingfield on Monday may well be a good way to start off the punting week with a bit of value. A field of 10 runners greets the starters and good value exists around BAJAN TRYST who early on Betfair is trading at 15.0 and likely to drift to closer to 20.0 as the market thickens.

The 4yo son of Speightstown represents the astute yard of K Ryan who has a 21% strike rate on the AW this season landing 25 winners from 120 runners and the respected hoop Neil Callan also goes better than average on the AW with a winning strike rate of 21% landing 33 winners from 157 rides this season on the AW.

Bajan Tryst is 2nd up from a spell now and 4 starts ago looked the goods making all at Wolverhampton over 6f finding plenty at the business end to score by a widening 4l margin. The form out of that race through the btn brigade reads well for what he takes on here. He shapes as potentially well treated under the weights scenario being rated only 4lb higher than he was when recording that wide margin win.

The overall pace scenario looks a query but don’t be surprised to see him stalk over this sharp 5f trip or if gate speed allows he may cross and try to make all again. Bottom line is that the drop back to 5f should not hinder his chances.

Captain Carey, Steelcut and Doric Lady look the major dangers, the rest merely make up the numbers.

Nathan Lynch of from the horses mouth previews for all races to be run at Meydan in Dubai on Super Thursday, 4 March 2010. This is the major lead up meeting to Dubai World Cup night and is jam packed with high class Group 1 quality race horses from all corners of the globe.

Meydan 3.35 1m1f110y Lstd

No2 Enak G1+
No4 Della Barba G1?
No6 Solid Choice G2+
No8 Vale Of York G1+
No10 Kona Coast G1-
No11 Storm Chispazo G1
No15 Landowner ??

Despite only being a Listed quality race it will take a horse of the highest quality to win this event, we are talking a G1 performer realistically that is need to take the prize here such is the massive depth of this field overall. 3 horse make major appeal, the first is the former Argentinian galloper now with Saeed Bin Suroor Enak who won a mile G1 event at San Isidoro in May 2009 4l*2l with Storm Chispazo finishing a well beaten 10th, Enak has since had 1 start in Dubai finishing down the track behind Mendip but that run can be excused, it looks a true G1 quality horse on its San Isidoro win, the 2nd one of major note is also a Saeed Bin Suroor trained galloper in the form of Breeders Cup Juvenile winner Vale Of York, he defeated numerous proven G1 performers annexing the Breeders Cup Juvenile and with the stable in such hot form the son of Invincible Spirit simply can not be ignored, the third one of major note is the unexposed Shamardal colt Landowner who has won 2 races recently at Jebel Ali and Abu Dhabi in prep for this contest and the form out of both of those races through horses like Beethoven suggest it will be super competitive here.

1st No2 Enak
2nd No8 Vale Of York
3rd No15 Landowner

Win Betting – No2 Enak shapes as very good value likely to be bet around the 25/1 mark on the exchanges, back it each way, No8 Vale Of York is likely to start 2/1 favorite or thereabouts, so leave it alone, No15 Landowner will be available at better than 20/1 and can also be nibbled at.

Meydan 4.15 6f G3

No2 Desert Party G1+?
No3 Barbecue Eddie G2+?
No5 Mrs Boss G1+,+?
No7 War Artist G1?

Once again this race will take a sprinter of the highest calibre to win despite being only a G3 race in terms of advertised purse and class, overall on that basis it shapes as a race in 2 between the Saeed Bin Suroor trained Street Cry 4yo colt Desert Party and the Brazilian raider Mrs Boss who herself is very well bred by the under-rated son of Wild Again, Wild Event, leaning is towards the speed machine Mrs Boss despite being beaten 4l by Global City over 6f on her Meydan debut on 18 February, she led that day and wilted due to fitness but is sure to have come on significantly for that run and her 3 wins in Brazil in February and March 2009 by big spaces were sprinting efforts of the highest calibre, form refs out of those races suggest she will give a huge sight here on the front end and prove very hard to run down in deep stretch, likely good value will be bet compared to Desert Party who twice defeated Regal Ransom at this carnival last year so it is likely to be short in the market especially considering it represents the very hot and popular Saeed Bin Suroor yard, Mrs Boss for us is the bet to make all on the front end.

1st No5 Mrs Boss
2nd No2 Desert Party
3rd No7 War Artist

Win Betting – No5 Mrs Boss is likely to bet around the 18/1 to 20/1 mark on the exchanges and does look very good each way value, No2 Desert Party is likely to be around 6/1 or 7/1 as our 2nd elect and also shapes as good value to be backed to win along with Mrs Boss, they have it between them. No7 War Artist is too short to be backed as the 3rd elect.

Meydan 4.50 1m G3

No4 Al Arab G1?
No5 Forgotten Voice G1+
No6 Skysurfers        G1++

Another G3 race that is well above the advertised level in terms of class of horse competing in this race, 3 horses make appeal as high class potential G1 horses on their form at Meydan so far and it is clearly Skysurfers who looks the best of them, once again another charge from the super hot Saeed Bin Suroor yard which is having a sensational carnival, Skysurfers is undefeated having only its 3rd career start here after winning a lowly maiden on the All Weather at Southwell by 10l in a field of 13 in October 09, 1st up this time in Dubai last start it blew away a good field including Eagle Mountain 2nd btn 3.2l with form refs through those btn further back suggesting he is a high class stakes winner on the make, the scary thing is that was only his 2nd career start and he has so much scope for further improvement, Al Arab and Forgotten Voice look to be the only minor dangers but it is simply impossible to ignore the way Skysurfers won last start, it should remain undefeated after this contest.

1st No6 Skysurfers
2nd No5 Forgotten Voice
3rd No4 Al Arab

Win Betting – No6 Skysurfers is the deserved favorite in this race and is likely to be bet around the 6/4 mark on the exchanges which is the right price compared to how highly we have assessed it, it is the biggest certainty on the card, back it alone with good confidence straight out to win.

Value Place Bet – nothing in this race

Meydan 5.35 1m4f93y G2
No4 Anmar G2+,+?
No5 Halicarnassus G2
No6 Purple Moon G1
No9 Pan River G2?
No16 Autonomy G2+,+?

There is potentially 5 horses that could scoop the prize here, but 3 of them make major appeal. We have leant towards the lightly raced Rahy colt Anmar on top here from the super hot Saeed Bin Suroor yard, admittedly Purple Moon is more proven as a stayer with his efforts over the last 2 years but Anmar has 2 major factors in his favour, he was an impressive last start winner here over 11f giving him the race fitness edge and he has more scope for further improvement being so lightly raced whilst Purple Moon is 1st up from a break obviously using this as a prep run for his major assignment to come on Dubai World Cup night, the other one that makes significant appeal is the well bred Indian Group 1 winner Autonomy who is by Razeen (full brother to Warshaan and the best sire India has ever had winning multiple sire titles over there producing countless numbers of Indian classic winners), Autonomy is out of a high class Indian bred Steinbeck mare, even though Autonomy failed at his 1st start in Dubai when down the track behind Pan River (also engaged here) we feel there is more to come from him.

1st No4 Anmar
2nd No16 Autonomy
3rd No6 Purple Moon

This shapes as a good value betting affair where we can back our top two elects for a result across the race, No4 Anmar looks likely to start favorite here around the 9/2 mark, back it to win, the 2nd elect No16 Autonomy shapes as very good value likely to be bet at 30/1 or better, back it each way outlaying half the amount of the Anmar bet for a result across the race.

Value Place Bet – No16 Autonomy

Meydan 6.10 1m2f G2

No2 Allybar G2+
No5 Gloria De Campeao G1,+?
No8 Vodka        G1++?
No11 Cavalryman G1+
No13 Red Desire G1+,+?

Once again another super strong race on this card that will take no less than an effort of the highest Group 1 calibre class to win here, 4 horses make serious appeal in this race and all are proven high class Group 1 performers, we have leant towards the champion Japanese bred Tanimo Gimlet mare Vodka as the top elect here, she got back to her career best form last start winning over 12f at Tokyo annexing the Japan Cup dirt, form refs out of that race suggest it was a group 1 race of the highest quality and clearly puts her on top here. It is another Japanese raider who comes out of that same race that we have down for 2nd in the form of the very well bred Manhattan Cafe 4yo filly Red Desire, she chased home Vodka in the Japan Cup dirt gamely beaten 1.5l 3rd and the start prior she annexed the G1 Shuka Sho over 10f at Kyoto defeating a very high class field full of proven Group 1 winners, the next best is also a high class stayer in the form of the French raider Cavalryman who last start finished 3rd to Sea The Stars in the Prix De L’Arc De Triomphe beaten only 2l, the 4yo son of Halling won his previous 3 starts on end and that Arc 3rd was in one of the strongest renew2als of the Arc in a long time.

1st No8 Vodka
2nd No13 Red Desire
3rd No11 Cavalryman

Win Betting – Our confidence is very strong around our top 2 elects here and there is enough value in the market to back both for a result across the race as one of our strongest races to be bet on the card, No8 Vodka is likely to be bet around the 13/4 or 7/2 mark and shapes as good value slightly better odds than we have it assessed at, our 2nd elect No13 Red Desire is also at good value compared to its true chance and is likely to be bet around the 13/2 or 7/1 mark, have 4 units on Vodka and 2 units on Red Desire for a result across the race.

Value Place Betting – nothing in this race

Meydan 6.45 1m1f G2

No1 Presvis G1?
No3 Alexandros G2+?
No5 Lahaleeb G1+,+?
No8 Justenuffhumor G1+?

As per the usual story for this meeting it will take a high class G1 performer to annex this race despite the Group 2 rating assigned on paper to this race, 4 horses in the field make appeal as potential winners here but it is the USA turf form that we feel is the most significant in this race, on top we lean towards the Redback 4yo filly Lahaleeb who last start annexed the EP Taylor Stakes at Woodbine over 10f in very good style 1.7*2.3l with further big margins back through the field, the form out of that race does look strong and it was a career best performance for the unfashionably bred filly so there is a minor query because of those factors, her prior form in The UK was not as strong but that EP Taylor Stakes win has to be respected, for 2nd it is another USA formline we rely on nominating Justenuffhumor for 2nd, last start he was one paced when 4.2l 6th to Bankable having his first start at Meydan on 19 Feb but his effort when 3rd to Goldikova btn 1.5l the start prior in the Breeders Cup Mile on turf is a very strong form line for this, that day he was making strong headway over the final 100y suggesting he is even better suited to this 9f test here, for 3rd the best of the rest clearly looks to be Presvis who will have come on significantly for its last start 7l 2nd to Allybar in a small 3 horse field race here on 5 February, not the strongest confidence about this race but still good value likely.

1st No5 Lahaleeb
2nd No8 Justenuffhumor
3rd No1 Presvis

Win Betting – This race just like the prior race shapes as a good value betting affair where we can back the top 2 elects for a result across the race but not with the same confidence as the prior race, No5 Lahaleeb is likely to be bet around the 11/1 mark or better on the exchanges and can be backed each way as the top elect, our 2nd elect No8 Justenuffhumor is also good value here likely to be bet around the 7/1 to 8/1 mark and can also be backed to win, outlay half the amount on Justenuffhumour compared to the size bet that you have on Lahaleeb to win.

Value Place Betting – No5 Lahaleeb

UK horse racing on Monday shapes as a strong day of betting with action coming in from Wolverhampton, Catterick and Plumpton (subject to an 8am inspection at Plumpton). Below we highlight 6 of the races on the flat AW card for racing at Wolverhampton. Good value exists in plenty of the races.

All Weather action at Wolves

Wolverhampton 2.10 R1 No7 Straboe (1) – lightly raced improver and well bred type by Green Desert out of the Arch mare Staff Nurse, comes into this having 7th career start on the back of breaking maiden status 2 starts ago at Yarmouth over 6f by 2l, made all that day and stayed on strongly at the business end getting the 6f strongly, form refs through the btn brigade put it well up to winning vs this lot it faces today, last start also looked the winner over 6f at Kempton towards the end of December when it ambled up to hit the front 2f out travelling on the bit but found nothing when put under pressure to finish 5th btn 2.5l, it was 1st up off a 4.5 month break that day and may have given way to fitness, drops back to 5f here and fitter now and every chance of recapturing the form it showed winning 2 starts ago, if so it shapes as hard to hold out here.

Wolverhampton 2.10 R1 No1 Across The Sands (1) – overly well bred type by hot young sire Oasis Dream out of the Don’t Forget Me mare Dam Well Beyond who is also the dam of 6 winners from 7 others to race including 2 stakes performers Out Of Reach and Well Warned, has been off the scene since moderate form late in December but gets blinkers 1st time here and is freshened leading into this, go on effort at 2nd career start when 3rd btn 3l by Master Lightfoot over 5f at Lingfield, form refs out of that race read well for what it takes on here, minor query having to lump topweight but has the scope for further improvement and at 20/1+ early on exchanges warrants specking.
Wolverhampton 3.10 R3 No9 Spinning Well (2) – lightly raced improver 2nd up from a spell here on the back of finishing a well btn 4th at Lingfield over 10f last start, fitter now 2nd up and likely to improve for that last start effort, prefer to go on previous form in Ireland including 3 back at the Curragh when 2nd btn a head by Final Approach over 8f on soft going, form refs out of that race put it well above the level required to win here, some will query its ability to get a strong 12f but it is well bred with stamina injected through the dam’s side of the pedigree by Pivotal out of the Sadler’s Wells mare Kiltubber, gets in well weighted vs these foes carrying the minimum 8st12lbs, both jockey and trainer in good form presently with yard turning out 2 winners from 5 starters this month and this one looks likely to be a 3rd for this hot yard.

Wolverhampton 3.40 R4 No1 Bubbly Braveheart (4) – a field of only 4 runners greets us here and this well bred type by Cape Cross out of the Bering mare Infinity looks super hard to hold out on the back of its last start victory at Lingfield over 10f, only scored by 1l on the line last start but was held up at critical stage and quickly put paid to them when asked to assert authority over the final 100y, always looked the winner, also put good margins back through the field and overall depth of the foes it beat that day was clearly superior to what it faces here, only rises 3lb in weight off that win and realistically has been gifted this by the handicapper, drops back 100y off that last start win but its superior turn of foot and hot current form should see it win this by a wide margin.

Wolverhampton 4.10 R5 No2 Johnmanderville (1) – in prepost markets this one was marked up 16/1 2nd outsider in the field but that assessment is way over its true chances, decently bred type by Kheleyf out of the Charnwood Forest mare Lady’s Walk and comes into this 1st up off a 4 month break on the back of last start finishing 1.7l 2nd to Gaily Noble on this track over this distance, that was a weaker race in terms of advertised class than it faces here but the overall depth of this field is not great and this ones form on turf last season is well above the level required to win here, the yard is in good form on the AW and sent out Ingleby Star to win here last Monday as a 10/1 chance from only 2 runners, the big query is the apprentice hoop engaged to ride Shirley Teasdale and this is her first ride in 2010 and she didn’t ride a winner from 7 rides in 2009, so she is the big unknown but her weight relief does get Johnmanderville in well weighted here vs the major danger Hannicean, those 2 should fight the race out but the value option is Johnmanderville and that is the way we will play this race.

Wolverhampton 4.40 R6 No4 Pastello (2) – deceivingly well bred type by Exceed And Excel out of the 3 times stakes placed Lion Cavern mare Pastel, 1st up here off the back of a 2 1/2 month break for the astute Richard Hannon yard and gets in very well weighted after the 7lb claim for Charles Eddery, unplaced both starts on the AW at the end of last season but looks to have been at the end of its preperation, form prior on the turf at Leicester, Brighton and Newmarket when only btn 2l by the likes of Bab At The Bowser and Quiet reads very well for a race of this nature, if it is ready for this 1st up tilt then it will shake the life out of this race, has been backed early on the exchanges from 6.00 into 5.00 which is a good sign, any further money adds confidence that it is ready for this 1st up tilt.

Wolverhampton 5.10 R7 No2 Herbert Crescent (2) – decently bred type by Averti out of the Zafonic mare With Distinction who is also the dam of one other runner to race being the Listed winner Talking Hands (also 2l 4th in G3 company), comes into this 1st up from a 2 month spell after failing last 2 starts, 3 runs prior to that when 2nd each time on this track over 7f and 9f suggest it is well up to the level required to win here, trainer and jockey both hot on the AW in 2010, jockey has ridden 12 winners from 42 rides in 2010 (7 winners last 17 rides), 29% strike rate in 2010, trainer has saddled 3 winners from 15 runners, 20% strike rate with 3 other runners finishing 2nd, very good value in early betting on the exchanges at 9.40, one of the better value bets on the Wolverhampton card.

Meydan Dubai Betting Tips

Thursday 4 February 2010 represents the 2nd meeting set down for the new race track purpose built in Dubai to host the Dubai World Cup from 2010 onwards called Meydan. We will be highlighting 5 selected races on this card, the quality of bets looks rather strong. Of particular interest to Australian followers is Race 3 with the engagement of the regally bred Redoute’s Choice South African G1 winner Musir who is on trial for the UAE 2000 Guineas and looks hard to beat.

Race times listed in brackets after each race number are UK times.

Meydan R1 (14:35) – Shapes as a race with a few seen chances on paper and as per usual hard to line a lot of them up with form references coming from various racing centres. We have decided to lean towards SWIFT GIFT on top who won a high class Heritage Handicap at Ascot in May 09 over 7f defeating Nezami and Dhaular Dhar 1.7*1.3l in a large 27 horse field, form refs out of that race suggest Swift Gift is potentially a Group class performer so it is in well weighted, the other potential high class runner that can’t be ignored is the Brazilian import AL ARAB who comes into this in fine form off the back of a Listed win at Cidade Jardim in Brazil last start, scored impressively over the mile that day 2.7*3.7l and that franked its high class Group 3 win at the end of December 08 when it knocked off two former Group 1 winners in the form of Quick Road and Biologo. Also minor claims exist around Skysurfers, Uncle Tom and Ocean’s Minstrel but preference is for the first two mentioned and they should be fighting it out with the class edge in their favour.

Betting Advice – Meydan Race 1

No13 Swift Gift (1) – 1 unit win
No8 Al Arab (1) – 1 unit win

Meydan R2 (15:10) – not the highest quality raced and only a few of these realistically make appeal from a class point of view and one of them on exposed class stands out over the others, that is GALLAGHER, if the real Gallagher shows up here he will beat this lot hands down, that fact that Meehan has engaged leading UK hoop Jamie Spencer for this ride gives us good confidence the horse is ready to fire 1st up from the 5 month lay off, as a juvenile in 08 he ran Lord Shanakill to a half length in the Mill Reef stakes over 6f at Group 2 level, he hit the line hard that day making up strong ground from off the pace suggesting this 7f trip may be his best go, Lord Shanakill franked that form when he was nosed out by Intense Focus next start over 7f in the Group 1 Dewhurst and then he trained on as a 3yo finishing 1.7l 3rd to Mastercraftsman in the Group 1 St James Palce Stakes and also won at Group 1 level in France in the Prix Jean Prat at Chantilly, Gallagher’s best effort of his 3yo campaign last season was a deceivingly strong win over Plum Pudding at Newbury over the 7f trip by wide margins, the beaten brigade was well above the advertised class of that race suggesting he still retained his Group level ability, the other horses engaged here are simply not Group class horses to the level of Gallagher, he has them covered.

Betting Advice – Meydan Race 2

No2 Gallagher (2) – 3 units win

Meydan R3 (15:45) – a high class field of “3yo’s” greets us here on trial for the UAE 2000 Guineas, we must remember that the Southern Hemisphere bred horses from Australia, Brazil and Argentina are actually 4yo’s by Southern Hemisphere standards but under the handicap conditions of this race it is basically WFA with penalties, Mick De Kock has a phenomenal record in Dubai and he saddles up an impeccably bred Australian colt in the form of MUSIR here who is by Redoute’s Choice out of the Encosta De Lago mare Dizzy De Lago who herself was a potential blacktype winner after placing in stakes company in Australian on debut when 2nd to Crystal Wit, Dizzy De Lago only raced 3 times before her career was cut short, Musir is a G1 winner in South Africa taking out the high class form race The Golden Horseshoe at Greyville over 8f last start by a widening 3l margin and the form through the beaten brigade suggest it was a Group 1 win of the highest merit, he is clearly the one to beat and stable confidence is high, the other Southern Hemisphere horse that may figure is the well bred type now trained by Saeed Bin Suroor from Argentina in the form of PERCUSIONIST who is by Southern Halo out of the Woodman mare Breadcrumb who was unraced, Percusionist was very impressive winning by 7l over 6f at Palermo in Argentina on debut and the form out of that race looks high class Group quality for the area, he should be able to transform it to this level required to be highly competitive, forget the European breds in this, they are not the class of these 2 previously mentioned, Musir and Percusionist will fight this out and both are serious UAE 2000 Guineas contenders.

Betting Advice – Meydan Race 3

No1 Musir (2) – 3 units win
No8 Percusionist (1) – 2 units win

Meydan R6 (17:40) – This is a Group 3 contest over 9f and a few high class types are engaged here that are well above the advertised Group 3 class of this race, clearly the best of them looks to be CROWDED HOUSE from the Meehan / Spencer combination again, he has been off the scene since July 09 when he was well beaten 6th of 12 behind Sea The Stars over 12f at Ascot, he only started twice as a 3yo last season before going amiss so we prefer to go back to his high class 2yo form as a point of reference including his 3.5l win in the Group 1 Racing Post Trophy at Doncaster over 8f, once clear that day 2f out he put paid to the large 15 horse field in a twinkling and hit the line strongly, he is by Rainbow Quest out of a Woodman mare so 9f to 10f looks to be his optimum trip, Spencer was also onboard that day so he knows the horse well, the best of the rest looks to be between Oiseau De Feu, Alexandros and Frozen Fire who resumes for the astute De Kock yard but Crowded House looks to have their measure as a proven high class G1 winner.

Betting Advice – Meydan R6

No5 Crowded House (1) – 2 units win

Meydan R7 (18:15) – the overall quality of this field in terms of Group quality horses is not that great but the German bred horse TITUREL is lightly raced and offers very good scope for further improvement here and gets the services of leading hoop K Fallon, he is by Dr Fong out of the Acetango mare Tucana and the 2nd dam is by Trempolino so it has enough stamina in its pedigree to suggest it will stay the 14f trip here, last start having only its 4th start it was sent out a short priced favorite in a Group 3 contest at Hoppegarten in German and didnt come on at the business end and was subsequently put away and spelled after that run, obviously it had excuses, it won 3 on end prior to that and at its 3rd career start scored by a widening 5l margin at Baden Baden defeating a well performed Galileo mare who came out and won a strong Listed race with ease 2 starts later franking the form, the start prior Titurel was sent to Chantilly in France where it also won impressively knocking off Puchet 2nd who at its previous 3 starts finished 2nd at Group 1 level each start in Argentina at Palermo and San Isidoro, 3rd home in that same race behind Titurel was the smart Daressalam who the start prior was beaten the same 2l margin in Group 2 company in Germany suggesting once again that Titurel is Group 2 level as a minimum with scope for improvement in German racing, that is strong enough to win this contest that is devoid of real Group racing depth of horse flesh.

Betting Advice – Meydan Race 7

No4 Titurel (1) – 2 units win

Sale R2 No4 Capturethedream (1) – well bred lightly raced improver by Lonhro out of the city winning sprint mare by El Moxie, Mimzical, well placed here having 2nd career start resuming from a spell in overly weak $12K maiden company, on debut finished 2.6l 5th at Geelong over 1130m on slow going when sat wide without cover, had the toughest trip and still battled on well doing its best work close home that day, 4 subsequent winners have since come out of that race suggesting it was a strong maiden for the tag, likely to have improved significantly since spelling and gets the benefit of a firmer surface here and likely better trip in transit, with that scope taken into account becomes the one to beat in this weak maiden, came close to giving this a level (2) rating so confidence is good for the level (1) rating assigned, anything better than 7/4 or 2.80 is good value.

Wagga R1 No14 Sydney’s Ransom (3) – very hard to go past the chances of the well bred type Sydney’s Ransom here who is by Red Ransom out of the stakes performed Quest For Fame mare Sydney’s Quest who herself is a half sister to hot young sire and 4 time Group winner Charge Forward including the G1 Galaxy, her dam is none other than South African Group 1 winner by Bletchingly of the South African Fillies Futurity Stakes, Sydney’s Dream, comes into this 4th run back from a spell at peak fitness now dropping sharply in class from last start finishing 3.5l 6th at Randwick in maiden company for a $27k purse, 2nd up start prior finished 0.2l 2nd at Wyong over 1350m against clearly stronger than it takes on here and 3rd up over this distance last preparation was only btn 2l by Onemorenomore in the Listed Baillieu Handicap, the only very minor query looks to be Vespasian on exposed class but this one gets a gun trip from the 5 alley tracking no more than an even speed with one of the runs of the race, simply ticks too many boxes, anything better than 5/4 or 2.20 represents good value.

Wagga R2 No6 Cockels’n'mussels (2) – overly well bred lightly raced improver by Street Cry out of the Twig Moss mare Marie Narelle, comes into this having mere 2nd career start on the back of finishing 1.3l 2nd to Forethought over 1200m at Canberra, was slowly away that day and got caught 3 wide tracking a fastish tempo with no cover, did the most work of the on pacers and big merit associated to the run considering 1st 3rd 4th and 5th home all came from off the pace, also put a good gap on 2.3l back to 3rd in the 14 horse field, another sign of good merit, 4th and 6th home both came out and won at their next start for the same $9K tag this one takes on here adding further merit to the debut effort especially considering it beat 6th home, Little Isabel by 4.4l and it was the best finished of the other on pacers and it defeated Itahi at Queanbeyan next start by 1.5l and Itahi had placed 2nd in $9K maidens both starts prior confirming the form line, prior to that debut effort Cockels’n'mussels won a trial at Canberra over 900m by 2l defeating that same horse Little Isabel 2nd by 2l with a further 3.5l back to 3rd, form reference once again franked, this one is clearly above the level required to win here, no major concern about the 11 alley as there is not as much pace engaged here, likely to cross and get a soft on pace trip, the only real query comes from Final Star who is 4th emergency and may not get a start, if Final Star does not get a start this one increases from its current level (2) rating to a level (3) rating anything better than 7/4 is good value, with Final Star scratched 11/8 becomes an acceptable price.

Caulfield R5 No8 Most Immediate (1) – with Denman being so short in the market in early fixed odds betting we feel there is merit in opposing it and finding a way to get it beat and 2 horses fit the bill at decent double each way odds with this being the first of them, Most Immediate is a well bred type by Red Ransom out of the 4 times stakes winning Jade Hunter mare So Keen, her stakes wins came at 1200m-1400m including the G2 Surround Stakes, so far at stud she has produced one other stakes winner being the dual G1 winner Keeninsky, comes into this 2nd up from a spell on the back of breaking maiden status last start at Moonee Valley over 1200m in $70K R0MW company defeating At The Heads who franked that form winning for a $70K tag on Saturday at Sandown, the start prior At The Heads was beaten only 0.8l by 2 from 2 winner and the other seen chance of beating Denman here in the form of The Handsome One, at the weights through At The Heads Most Immediate has a 2kg pull on The Handsome One and more scope for improvement being 2nd up and The Handsome One only rates 2.5kg below Denman at the weights as noted below, with this one being 9/00 or 8/1 compared to Denman 1.80 or 5/4 on there is enough merit to suggest backing this one to beat Denman.

Caulfield R5 No5 The Handsome One (1) – well bred lightly raced improver with good scope for more by Shamardal out of the Dehere mare Dehere And Now, comes into this having mere 3rd career start on the back of winning two on end including last start over this track and distance on Boxing day, a form line can be taken through Mo Money who finished 4th to it that day rating 2kg below it back to Denman when Denman defeated Mo Money when it was 1st up from a spell last preperation over 1100m at Flemington, Denman beat Mo Money that day by 3.2l rating 7kg infront of it, that puts Denman a raw 5kg infront of The Handsome One but Denman gives The Handsome One 2.5kg at the weights here which puts Denman in this rated only 2.5kg infront of The Handsome One, The Handsome One has the fitness edge over Denman who is 1st up being aimed at longer trips up to a mile and The Handsome One also has more scope for improvement only having faced the starter twice, this creates enough queries to suggest at the weights that The Handsome One is worth backing to beat Denman considering the big difference in prices with Denman quoted at 1.80 or 5/4 in early fixed odds markets whilst The Handsome One is available at 12/1 or 13.00, in some markets even longer.

Caulfield R6 No2 Zarita (1) – outside of a few horses the overall depth of this field is Listed quality at best but in the case of Zarita she has class on her side, 1st up 2 preperations ago she was only beaten 3.1l by Maldivian over 1400m at Group 1 level in the CF Orr Stakes, she franked that fresh form when last preperation 2nd up finishing 1.4l 3rd to Mic Mac in the G2 Memsie Stakes, the overall depth of the field she faced at those 2 starts far outweighs what she takes on here, on another line pose this question, if Mic Mac was engaged here with 61.5kg what price would he be?, surely a lot shorter than the 11.00 or 10/1 being offered about Zarita.

Caulfield R6 No6 Divine Rebel (1) – admittedly Divine Rebel failed 1st up over 1200m as expected in the Cleary Stakes behind Beltrois, 2nd up here against average Listed foes she deserves respect but stretching out to 1400m, we take a line through here 3rd up run last preperation when she flashed big closing pars to finish 2nd to Fifth Avenue Lady over 1600m in the G3 Patinack Farm Stakes, the form coming out of that race has subsequently proven very strong with no less than 6 of those beaten further back winning at their next start and another 2 of them winning at their 2nd start afterwards, as a minimum when on song this 5yo mare by Don Eduardo is a Group 3 quality performer, despite the 1400m being a bit short for her she is proven in strong G3 company over 1600m and gets in well weighted here on that basis, if she can turn around her 1st up failure she may surprise here at a massive price, 50/1 in early fixed odds markets is just simply huge overs and must be nibbled at.

Gold Coast R7 – 1200m Magic Millions 2yo Classic $2,000,000

The $2M Magic Millions 2yo Classic is run at The Gold Coast on Saturday 9 January and shapes as a very good value betting affair, read our detailed betting preview below.

Initially we start by listing our top 7 rated runners in order, THIS IS NOT THE PREDICTED FINISHING ORDER, read on further below for final predicted finishing order.

Top 7 Rated in order
1st No13 Ambers Waltz
2nd No1 Brightexpectations
3rd No8 Ebony Rock
=4th No7 Startsmeup, No11 Triple Crown, No14 Red Belly Black
7th No9 Military Rose

Pace = Solid

Ambers Waltz – the clear top rated 0.7l infront of Bright Expectations but likely to get caught deep facing the breeze tracking the speed if it goes forward as it did on debut but more likely to go back from the wide gate and be ridden for luck, barrier a major concern and as favorite there is enough value around the other top raters to find something to beat it due to the bad barrier, too short at 4.20 in early betting to have it on top as the major pick due to the alley.

Brightexpectations – clear 2nd top rated coming in rating 1.3l infront of the 3rd rated horse Ebony Rock, also drawn a very wide gate but is a speed horse and will go forward, the pace is likely to be solid so it will need to have luck crossing them early but if it gets across and finds cover stalking the leaders it shapes as the one they have to run down in deep stretch, booking of top hoop Nash Rawiller adds confidence, well bred by More Than Ready who knows how to produce a MM winner and top class juvenile as he has proven the last few years, at the prepost price of 14.00 on offer it is definitely a bettable commodity.

Ebony Rock – one of two very serious chances for the Hayes yard along with Red Belly Black, drawn superbly down in the 2 alley to get a gun trip back off the pace on the rail and is suited by the solid tempo, it will be closing hard at the business end and only rates 2kg below Brightexpectations so if Brightexpectations doesn’t get cover from the wide alley there is every chance this one could get home over the top of it and at 26.00 in early markets is worth backing as well.

Red Belly Black – the other Hayes runner and is only having 2nd start here, has big scope for further improvement on debut run, only won debut effort at Flemington by tight margins but came from last over 1100m to wear down the 3 on pace horses who finished 2nd 3rd and 4th, very good merit, form ref through I’m Posh who finished 5th puts it infront of Ebony Rock on one form reference, drawn a good gate to get also a very good trip from off the pace, once again at a good double figure price of 17.00 in early betting so it too can be backed to win along with Brightexpectations and Ebony Rock for a result across the race, looks to have the best chance of the equal 4th rated runners noted above.

PREDICTED FINISHING ORDER

1st. Brightexpectations
2nd. Ebony Rock
3rd. Red Belly Black
4th. Ambers Waltz

WIN BETTING:
maximum return 52 units.

PLACE BETTING:
5 units Ebony Rock @ 7.20

LAY BETTING:
Best Lay is Spirit Of Boom (max lay price 11.00),
additional lay is Military Rose (max lay pricve 8.00),
both can be laid under their max lay prices with good confidence.

EXOTIC BETTING
Quinella – 1,8,14
Trifecta – 1st 1,8,14 / 2nd & 3rd 1,7,8,11,13,14

Good luck and happy punting.

Gold Coast R1 – 1200m Magic Millions Maiden Plate $100,000

Top 5 Rated in order
1st No13 Speeding To Win
2nd No2 Mailbox
3rd No21 Fatherson (5th Emerg), unlikely to start
4th No12 Solid Effort
5th No5 Fast Lover

Pace = Average

Speeding To Win – very well bred type by Redoutes Choice who comes into this 4th up from a spell at peak fitness and likely to get a near perfect trip from a good gate on the front end under an even tempo, both jockey (Nash Rawiller) and trainer (Johhn O’Shea) are in hot form currently, on debut last prep finished 0.2l 2nd to Winter King over 1000m at Randwick on heavy going, form refgs out of that race put it on top here including line through Deer Valley who last start raced against the fixed odds favorite here Fast LOver since shipping to Qld giving Speeding To Win a clear 4kg advantage at the weights on that exposed form ref through Deer Valley, ticks clearly the most boxes out of this lot and at 4.60 fixed odds is good value, anything above 3.50 is an acceptable price.

Mailbox – another very well bred commodity by Encosta De Lago out of the Danehill mare Email Me who herself won 2 from 10 starts, 3rd dam is non other than Biscalowe who is the dam of Golden Slipper winner Marauding and the dual Danehill listed winner Springsteen, positive nicking reference for dam Email Me, 1st up from a spell here on the back of a very good trial effort when 2nd btn 1.3l by Electric Dreams at Warwick Farm, form refs through those finishing further back suggest it is ready to hit a new career peak here, if so is in this up to its ears, blinkers come off 1st time amongst a multitude of other gear changes, minor query under the pace scenario as it is likely to go back to worse than midfield in a race where on pacers will have the advantage and is drawn slightly wide out in the 11 alley but has the potential class to overcome that factor, if Speeding To Win fails to fire this may be the one that gets the chocolates at a decent price 12.00 currently on offer fixed odds, back this aswell as Speeding To Win for a result across the race, they look to have it between them.

Fatherson – Hayes runner having 3rd career start and wears blinkers 1st time but unlikely to get a start being the 5th emergency in this field, only rates 1.5kg below Speeding To Win (form line through Streetcar Magic back to Canali back to Speeding To Win) and is drawn a very good alley to get a good on pace trip stalking the leaders, if it gets a start will shake the hell out of this at a massive price and must be backed, 19.00 fixed odds currently but likely to start longer, it will replace Mailbox as the 2nd elect if it gets a start but that is very unlikely.

PREDICTED FINISHING ORDER

1st Speeding To Win
2nd Mailbox
3rd Solid Effort
4th Fast Lover
Special note for Fatherson, goes into 2nd position if it gets a start.

WIN BETTING:
5 units Speeding To Win @ 4.60
2 units Mailbox @ 12.00
total outlay 7 units
minimum return 23 units
maximum return 24 units

PLACE BETTING:
4 units Mailbox @ 3.75

LAY BETTING:

With not much racing in the UK, Aussie Pro-Punter Nathan Lynch gives you some pointers on the sand at Wolverhampton and some bets from the USA. Free horseracing tips, straight from the horses mouth….

Free Horseracing tips

Wolverhampton 4.35 R6 No2 National Monument (1) – still a maiden having only 6th career start, freshened since last effort when down the track behind Blue turk at Kempton over 10f, prefer to go on 2nd career start when 2.2l 3rd to Badge Of Honour over 9f on this track, exposed form refs out of that race suggest it definitely has the scope to win this bottom of the rung C6 handicap, being lightly raced also suggests has minor scope for further improvement and may have come on since the freshen up, any market support is definitely worth noting, jockey hot winning 3 from last 14 rides (above 20%), also decently bred by Statue Of Liberty out of Woodman mare, easily the most expensive of any of the dam’s progeny through the sales yard, at 20/1 and better on exchanges currently warrants specking.

Wolverhampton 4.35 R6 No7 Mighty Mover (1) – totally forget last 2 starts, freshened since, go on win 3 back over 9f on this track defeating Bidable by 2.2l, form refs out of that race suggest if it can hit that level again warrants major respect here, no scope to improve off that run but represents good value in a weak race if it can repeat that form and coming intro this off a short freshen may just do so, at 10/1 on exchanges currently it warrants specking in a wide open affair along with National Monument.

Wolverhampton 3.05 R3 No6 Beyond (1) – having 1st start for the astute Jeremy Noseda yard, very well bred by Galileo out of the Doyoun mare Run To Jane, the short priced favorite in this event is High Constable, a colt by Shamardal who was one paced close home on debut over 7f on this track when 3rd btn 0.7l by Sharia which is also a colt trained by Jeremy Noseda the trainer of Beyond, Beyond better suited than High Constable on breeding over this 8f141y trip and market confidence will be very significant with both Beyond and Sharia who beat High Constable last start both hailing from the Noseda yard, High Constable clearly the best exposed race form of any of these but at 2.00 on exchanges early in betting represents no value, prefer to be backing a yard that has a fair line on what is required to beat High Constable at a value price, hence the leaning towards Beyond.

Wolverhampton 5.05 R7 No2 Itsthursdayalready (1) – comes into this race 2nd up from a spell subject to considerable improvement for fitness on last start effort when 2nd btn 2.5l by Wellmarked over 7f on this track, form refs through those beaten further back in that last start suggest with natural improvement it is every chance of testing Blue Lyric who will be the short priced favorite and benchmark for these to beat, Blue Lyric on winning its last 2 on end may be slightly exposed now at the weights vs the short price it will go around so preference is for the Exceed And Excel 3yo gelding Itsthursdayalready who is currently 9/1+ on the exchanges, its true value price should be around the 11/4 or 3.75 mark.

Philadelphia R3 No2 Put It In Writing (2) – good sprinting record for what it faces here and drops sharply in class coming into this off a 3 month spell, worked the house down on December 31 in prep for return and gets the added addition of blinkers, all signs suggest is capable of routing this field in a display of superior speed.

Philadelphia R7 No9 Vincero (3) – imported from Uruguay by Shadwell stud initially and trained by leading trainer Kiaran McLaughlin, didnt meet expectations and since claimed by Mike Gorham, winner 2 of 4 since then with sole failure when upped in class to take on Starter Allowance company, beaten in a head bobber last time out when 2nd at Laurel Park and that effort was clearly the strongest last start effort of any in this race, should easily hold that level here and if so will prove very hard to hold out.

Philadelphia R10 No11 Berry Berry Bueno (2) – possesses very good overall speed for this big class drop today racing for the astute Scott Lake yard, well bred by Unbridled’s Song and was a $270K yearling purchase, long striding action it possesses will appreciate the outside draw and chance to stretch out, on exposed current form clearly the best of these, quoted at 3/1 on the morning line but expect it to start shorter, anything above 7/4 or 2.70 represents good value.

Fair Grounds R1 No5 Day Trippi (3) – rises in class here on paper but this field is no stronger than those it beat at its last 2 starts against non winners of 3 races, very inviting claim level going to a $7.5K claimer after not being claimed for $10K last start but bottom line is on exposed form simply has superior figures to this lot and is winning against better, short priced on the morning line at 8/5 and anything above 6/4 or 2.50 represents a bettable commodity here.

Fair Grounds R6 No2 Settling Seas (2) – former New York galloper who switches yarrs to the hot Bill Mott camp who has produced a 40% win strike rate here over his last 15 starters, this one has finished 2nd at each of its last 2 starts , 2 starts back was blowsed close home when battling on strong one paced, very good hidden merit, last start was also one paced when outgunned in deep stretch when forced to lead in a race devoid of early pace, gets the inside gate here and can either lead or take sit stalking the pace, the one to beat.

Fair Grounds R7 No1 Beaudacious Hit (2) – dually engaged galloper who was scratched the other day from a markedly easier race in preference for this assignment, won 3 of last 5 starts prior to being claimed back in September, freshened since then and trainer has a 35% strike rate with horses coming off a freshen, stable confidence obviously strong for re-appearance after being scratched from a much easier race, gets a rail draw to take advantage of its good natural speed.

Nathan is a pro punter based in Australia and runs website From The Horses Mouth.

USA Racing

Philadelphia R8 No2 Calm And Collected (2) – absolutely flying at present winning 9 from 13 this year including last 3 on end, very good effort 2 back when dictating an above average tempo on the front end over 1m70y at Penn National, led by 6l entering the stretch run and battled on strong one paced with a nice turn of foot holding that margin to the line to win by 6.2l putting a further 5.2l back to 3rd in a field of 5, franked that form winning by 9l on sloppy going next time out against similar, has good initial speed and likely to go straight to the front here from the 2 alley and prove hard to run down in deep stretch.

Meadowlands R7 No9 Miss Match (2) – former Argentinean galloper having 2nd start this prep and 3rd run in the USA, 4 starts ago won the Argentine Oaks G1 at Hipodromo by 3l on dirt widening the margin down the stretch run hitting the line very hard, franked that form next start when 3rd in the G1 Copa De Plata on turf at San Isidoro btn 2.5l, was tried on yielding turf 1st USA start 3 back and failed, forget the run, resumed last start at Delaware over 1m closing with strong pars coming from midfield off only an average pace to finish 2nd btn a neck with good margins further back through the field in OC30K company, fitter now and switched back to the turf likely to get one of the runs of the race tracking a minimum solid tempo with 3 potential leaders engaged, well bred by very good South American based son of AP Indy (Indigo Shiner) out of a Southern Halo mare, proven it can handle the turf when 3rd in the Copa De Plata and with the good un in transit will be the one closing hardest in deep stretch, lightly raced having only faced the starter 8 times, decent scope for further improvement here.

UK Racing

Exeter 1.40 R1 No7 Kahsabelle (2) – 1st up this preperation for the astute Venetia Williams yard who has produced 3 winners from her last 11 runners over the last 7 day span, last time when starting off a lengthy break finished 2nd at Ascot btn 0.7l by Santia over 16f in bottomless heavy going in 6K Novice hurdle company, hit the front before the 2nd last and battled on strongly to get nabbed close home after battling on strongly, fitness told, put good margins back to 3rd and 4th and 5th suggesting very good hidden merit in the performance, back onto better going here suits and faces a drop in class on that performance, yet to win in 12 career starts but in the right race now on exposed class and ready to break maiden status, currently on offer at 3.75 with betfair which is about 1/2 a point over the right quote we need to secure true value.

Sedgefield 1.20 R2 No1 Honour The World (2) - drops sharply in class here and back to hurdles after contesting Chase events against much stronger last 2 efforts (not disgraced considering what it takes on here), ships over from Ireland and go on effort at Bellewstown 4 starts ago defeating Wikaala and Gratified on yielding ground over 3f shorter than today’s trip, should get the distance OK considering this is a firmer surface it gets to take advantage of here, biggest query is is the other main pick in the market Commons Glory who gets weight relief carrying 1stone less but it was under heavy pressure last start over 2m1f when headed by Mickmacmagoogle going over the last jump.

Nathan Lynch previews the Group One Emirates Stakes card at Flemington with more expert top tips on a busy weekend of racing.

Big Day at Flemington

Flemington R1 No14 She’s Got Gears (1) – on a quick 4 day back up here after winning over this track and distance on Melbourne Cup day, came from midfield with a withering turn of foot to get the better of its foes close home scoring by 0.2l over Shaaheq, spaced the rest in a large field putting a further 4l back to 4th, form refs back through the btn brigade suggest it has the measure over the raced brigade here, numerous first starter present minor queries but race experience signals this one out as the clear top elect, very well bred for speed by Invincible Spirit out of an Encosta De Lago mare, currently trading at 7.40 on exchanges represents good value, anything above 5.00 is acceptable.

Flemington R2 No7 Lucky Thunder (2) – well bred type by under-rated sire son of Danehill in the form of Lucky Owners who was a dual G1 winner in Hong Kong winning the Hong Kong Derby and Hong Kong mile, this one is out of a Thunder Gulch mare called Smytzer’s Thunder who was a winner 2 from 4 before injury cu5t short its career and she is out of a Danehill mare called Danish Pastry which provides a rare double cross of Danehill so close in the pedigree of this one, more importantly Lucky Thunder looks superbly weighted here going on form from last preparation when 2nd up finished 3.3l 3rd to Heart Of Dreams over this track and distance in the G1 Cadbury Guineas, held sway for a minor placing over very smart types NIcconi, Fravashi and Eagle Falls that day, form refs through Eagle Falls 6th who the start prior finished 2nd to Pre Eminence can be lined up back to the other major hopes here Markus Maximus and Larry’s Never Late through Stokehouse and Flatchat to suggest Lucky Thunder clearly has those 2 covered at the weights here, Lucky Thunder also looked impressive 2 starts ago over 1533 at M Valley scoring by 0.8l hitting the line very hard suggesting good scope for further improvement, ticks enough boxes here to warrant a level (2) rating, well placed in this and at 4.50 on exchanges currently is very good overs, true value quote in our books is 3.20.

Flemington R3 No3 Occidentalis (1) – decently bred type by Scenic out of the Rory’s Jester mare Rosa’s Wish (minor query through dams side on stamina for this 2000m trip) and has never been further than 1600m previously, comes into this 6th run back this preparation and at peak fitness now, prepared to totally forgive last start effort last Saturday over 1400m when down the track at G3 level behind Centennial Park, go on effort 3 starts ago winning at Listed level over 1600m at Pukekohe in New Zealand by 3.3l, defeated a high class field for the class including Nom De Jeu 2nd and Boundless 7th, numerous form refs out of that race suggest is capable of winning at G3 to G3 level under the right circumstances, in well weighted here on that basis vs the likes of Timetable and Raffaello who are the top 2 in betting markets, booking of Damien Oliver for astute trainer Rickard Otto adds confidence., currently available at 7.40 on exchanges, anything better than 4/1 or 5.50 represents decent value.

Flemington R5 No6 Mic Mac (1) – very even field encounters us here with 5 of them having serious claims so playing the value angle influenced mainly by the likely pace scenario, decided to lean towards Mic Mac on top who was slightly unlucky last start at M Valley when 2nd to Apache Cat btn 0.2l in the G2 Scweppes Stakes, got caught wide with no cover and battled on very strong whilst Apache Cat got a dream trip and split at the perfect stage, definitely much more merit associated to Mic Mac’s run, gets blinkers 1st time here and with only 1 likely leader engaged (Bank Robber) will get the run of the race 2nd, has a sharp turn of foot under the right conditions and gets those conditions here, will be the one most likely to chase down Bank Robber at the business end.

Flemington R5 No7 Bank Robber (1) – 2nd up from a spell here subject to big improvement on the back of finishing 3rd to Apache Cat 1st up over 1200m in M Valley btn 0.7l, did all the work on the front end and battled on very strongly once headed in the stretch run never shirking the task, likely to get a fairly soft trip on the front end here after getting pressured 1st up by Lucky Secret, improved fitness and the suitable pace scenario will see it dig deep and prove very hard to run down here, if Mic Mac fails to fire in deep stretch then we feel Bank Robber may hold sway and at the juicy price of 10/1 warrants serious respect in a very even field on current form.

FLEMINGTON R6 EMIRATES STAKES 1600m G1

Flemington R6 No4 Vigor (1) – decided to go around the Cox Plate winner in this race who only rates equal with Vigor at the weights off numerous different form lines off his Cox Plate win taking a line back to Vigor through his effort defeating Typhoon Tracy 4 starts ago over 1600m in the G2 Makybe Diva stakes, last start Vigor finished 3rd in the Caulfield Cup btn 2.8l by Viewed and here drops back to 1600m, last win came over this track and distance defeating Typhoon Tracy with good margins back to the likes of Master O’Reilly, Heart Of Dreams and Predatory Pricer, drawn perfectly from the 1 alley he should get a nice cart into the race and over the long stretch get every chance to close with big pars and get home over the top of them at the business end, as stated playing the value angle here avoiding So You Think who is under compared to its true chance in betting markets so backing this one along with Eagle Falls and King Mufhasa for a result across the race vs So You Think.

Flemington R6 No9 Eagle Falls (1) – on the quick back up here after winning 7 days ago over 1200m on this track by 0.8l in the G2 Salinger Stakes defeating Turffontein, form refs through that win where Absolutelyfabulous finished 3rd puts this one only 1kg below Vigor here at the weights when lining up Absolutelyfabulous back to Typhoon Tracy through their meeting in the Coolmore Classic at Rosehill in March, this one subject to further improvement the way it closed the race off well last start over 1200m hitting the line strongly so it should appreciate the step to a mile despite being btn twice at this trip last prep behind Pre Eminence and Heart Of Dreams, has had a wind operation since and trainer David Hayes now confident it will get the mile, improvement puts it in this up to its ears at the weights.

Flemington R6 No6 King Mufhasa (1) – well btn last start when 3rd up over 1600m at Caulfield in the Toorak Handicap behind Allez Wonder but prepared to forgive that run, go on 1st up effort this preparation when 2nd to Lord Tavistock over 1400m at Hastings in New Zealand at G1 level, that effort suggested ready to hit career peak some time this prep, was a dual G1 winner in New Zealand at the end of 2008 and also won a strong G2 1600m at Riccarton leading into those 2 G1 wins defeating Vosnee Romanee 1.3l which franks the effort 1st up this prep, a line can be taken through its 1st up effort this prep back to Daffodil and Vigor in the Caulfield Cup suggesting it has the better of Vigor here at the weights, once again in this up to its ears at good double figure odds if that formline stands up, bonus booking of Damien Oliver from the good 5 alley for a favourable on pace trip under an even tempo, likely to be the one that Vigor and Eagle Falls have to run down in deep stretch.
