Main Aim Goodwood Favourite
Poet’s Voice Can Upset main Aim at Goodwood….
The Celebration Mile is hardly cause for celebration with only four runners declared. That said we can seek out some value by opposing the short price favourite, Main Aim. Frankie Dettori rides Poet’s Voice for Godolphin and I think will contunue the stable’s good run. Rated a pound less than the favourite, Poet’s Voice gets a handy six pounds allowance that puts him right in contention here. Not much of a race, but I will oppose the jolly.
The best bet of the day in my view comes in the March Stakes in the shape of Drunken Sailor, with Kieren Fallon and Luca Cumani once again teaming up. They say a good horse goes on any going, well this fellow certainly does and has won on just about all surfaces. I would have doubts about the ground at Goodwood, but not for this chap. 112 is a lofty rating for any horse and certainly is good enough to win this listed race.
At newmarket, Bated Breath was an unlucky loser last time. Richard Hughes is back in the saddle, which is a huge positive. I have never seen a better hold up merchant than Hughsie. Bated breath was denied a clear run and I commented at the time that he should have won and will probably win next time. The good news is that it is over the same course and distance with Hughsie in the saddle, Bated Breath should win in my view.
