It has been a relatively poor week as far as the fixture list in concerned. Don’t worry though there is some decent racing on the way at the weekend with the Weatherbys Super Sprint at Newbury.
This has been a Richard Hannon benefit in recent years, Richard Hannon has won just under half the runnings of the Weatherbys Super Sprint and the all-conquering two-year-old trainer is likely to saddle half a dozen in Saturday’s renewal at Newbury. Hannon has also entered three in the Shadwell Stakes at Newbury on Saturday where it looks like Laddies Poker Two will run again after such an easy win at Royal Ascot. On Saturday we also have a decent card at Newmarket where the Plantation Stud Stakes has attracted an entry.
The highlight of the Summer Jumping Season is at Market Rasen on Saturday with the Summer Plate meeting. The Summer Plate and the Summer Hurdle are the best races on that card and the entries suggest it will be a great day as usual at the Lincolnshire track.
So a couple more days of mediocrity then it starts to get so much better.
