The first World Cup Semi Final takes place on Tuesday, Holland v Uruguay in a game where Uruguay are 6/1 to win in 90 minutes. The dutch are on a long unbeaten run, is it the form of World Champions?
Holland are a more glamerous team off the pitch than on the pitch, although they are winning games, just doing enough. They play as a team and never give up. They played well against Brazil and kept their cool and turned the game round after being a goal down. They play very well
as a team and are a solid unit. Not glamerous, at least not on the pitch, but a very very good football team.
Uruguay have had the luck and have played well as a team too. Their main man is Diego Forlan. He has played brilliantly well in this tournament, but to suggest they will beat Holland is a big leap of faith. The luck they had against Ghana though was astonishing, you need luck to win a World Cup.
My Thoughts on this game;
The bottom line is, as the stats below show, there is not that much between the teams but for me I side with the Dutch, but there is no value in that. Match odds, best prices;
Will there be many goals in this game? I think it is a cert that there will be under 2.5 goals….
Head to Head Stats:
• Uruguay won 3 of 4 meetings. Winners always scored twice
• Three games finished 2-0, the other 2-1
• Holland have won their last three matches 2-1 – against Cameroon, Slovakia and Brazil.
• If the Dutch succeed in 90 minutes tonight, they will set a new record for wins in a World Cup, after equalling the 1974 record (five) by beating Brazil.
• Wesley Sneijder has bagged six goals in his last seven internationals.
Tournament Stats….
• Uruguay 60 Shots 7 goals = 12% (conceded 2)
• Holland 57 Shots 9 goals = 16% (conceded 3)

You Bet: Diego Is Not A Mara-goner!
William Hill have opened betting on whether or not Diego Maradona will still be in charge of the Argentine national team when they play their friendly match against Ireland on the 11th of August.
The bookies make him a 4-7 chance to be in charge of the team to play Ireland, and 5-4 not to be.
Irelands match against Argentina will be the first soccer international at the new Aviva stadium in Dublin. The stadium was built to replace the old Lansdowne road which was demolished in 2007.
Maradona was given a heroes’ welcome on returning home to Buenos Aires, and we think the support he received from the public is likely to persuade him to stay on, said Hill’s spokesman Graham Sharpe However, we are talking about Diego Maradona who what goes through his head at any given time.
Maradona draws huge media attention wherever he goes so it would be great news for Ireland and the new stadium sponsors if he stays in charge.
Will Maradona still be in charge of Argentina for their match against Ireland on the 11th August: (William Hill bet): 4-7 Yes, 5-4 No
