Richard Hughes odds-on to be top jockey at Royal Ascot after brace
Richard Hughes is the 4/6 favourite with totesport to be top jockey at Royal Ascot after landing a brace on the first day of the meeting. Hughes was successful on the Richard Hannon-trained pair of Canford Cliffs and Strong Suit and also finished second aboard Paco Boy in the Queen Anne Stakes.

‘The first day of the Royal meeting certainly belonged to Richard Hughes and with several fancied mounts to come, it’s going to take a big effort from the other jockeys to catch him,’ said totesport spokesman George Primarolo.
Ryan Moore is the 11/4 second favourite ahead of Johnny Murtagh at 7/1.

Strong finish sees Suit installed as Guineas favourite
Strong Suit came from an impossible position to take the Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot this afternoon and has been installed as the 9/1 favourite with totesport for next year’s 2000 Guineas.
Richard Hughes’ mount swooped late to pip long-time leader Elzaam in the shadows of the post and the runner-up has also been given a quote of 16/1 for the first classic of next season.
‘Both Strong Suit and Elzaam look two smart colts in the making but there could be much more to come from the former who picked up in the style of a very good horse,’ said totesport spokesman George Primarolo.
