THURSDAY’S FREE HORSERACING TIPS….
Its the second day of the Newmarket Craven Meeting and we have a host of free horseracing tips from both Newmarket and elsewhere.

3:35 Newmarket Elusive Pimpernel was a colt of the highest order as a juvenile and can make a winning return to action in the Racing Post breezeupbonus.com Craven Stakes at Newmarket on Thursday. A winner on the July Course on his racecourse introduction, John Dunlop’s charge went on to claim one of the hottest two-year-old races of the season in the Acomb Stakes at York. The second and third went on to subsequent success at Listed and Group level, while Breeders’ Cup winner Vale Of York was back in fifth. Elusive Pimpernel tested the water in Group One company in the Racing Post Trophy on his final appearance and although he was no match for runaway winner St Nicholas Abbey, he was easily best of the rest. He proved that day this one-mile trip holds no fears for him and while it always dangerous to get too heavily involved in trial races such as this, Elusive Pimpernel does have the look of a good thing in what is not a vintage renewal.
4:10 Newmarket Tranquil Tiger; Henry Cecil’s Tranquil Tiger has been in terrific form on the all-weather and can make a winning return to turf in the Weatherbys Bloodstock Racecard Earl of Sefton Stakes. The six-year-old has found a really consistent streak, completing a hat-trick in the Winter Derby at Lingfield at the end of March. While he does still not look entirely straightforward, Tranquil Tiger has a potent turn of foot so this nine-furlong trip should ideally suit. Another positive is that, unlike many of his rivals, he has race fitness on his side.
3.10 Ripon Almiqdaad; Michael Jarvis has his string in good nick at this early stage of the season and his Almiqdaad gets the vote in the Ripon Silver Bowl Conditions Stakes at the North Yorkshire venue. The four-year-old promised plenty as a juvenile but a hairline fracture of the pelvis early last year meant he failed to rediscover his best form in his first couple of racecourse appearances of 2009. Jarvis slowly brought his charge back to full health, and his patience was rewarded as Almiqdaad secured a lucrative victory in the John Smith’s Stakes at Newbury. He was admittedly disappointing on his final start in the Cambridgeshire but this return to a more conventional track will suit.
6.10 Kempton Calypso Star; Calypso Star won a shade cosily on his latest visit to Kempton and can make a successful return to the track in the Bistro In The Panoramic Restaurant Classified Stakes. A couple of placed efforts last November suggested his turn was not far away and, after a four-month break, he showed a neat change of gear to score as he liked in March. He was certainly not stopping at the end and this step up in trip should not inconvenience him unduly.
2.10 Cheltenham Captain Chris; National Hunt fare comes from Cheltenham, where Captain Chris should take some pegging back in the Gloucestershire Trainers Championship Novices’ Hurdle. The six-year-old’s rivals did not see which way he went when he won by 20 lengths on his hurdling debut at Kempton at the start of March, after which he had no trouble following up at the same track next time. He looks certain to make up into a serious novice chaser next season but can take this before heading off for a deserved summer holiday.
