Triumph Hurdle, Market Mover

Advisor has been well-backed for the JCB Triumph Hurdle admid strong speculation Ruby Walsh will ride him in preference to Secant Star.

Paul Nicholls’ charge has won both his starts over timber under Walsh, but until Friday had been a longer price than his Willie Mullins-trained rival for the Cheltenham showpiece. However, Sky Bet have cut Advisor to 15/2 from 10s with Secant Star out to 8s from 7s. Spokesman Matt Doyle said:

“The weight of money for Advisor suggests Ruby (Walsh) will be riding him at Cheltenham. We’ve seen plenty of bets for him on Friday while Secant Star continues to be weak in the run-up to Cheltenham.”

Looking at the market however it seems that there has not been an industry wide move for the horse and one wonders if this is not just a bit of PR making by SKYBET. Our Live odds at the time of writing show advisor is generally 10/1 with leading bookmakers.
