Very sad news for Sam Thomas that he will miss the Cheltenham Festival after a pretty bad fall on the gallops. Thomas in in hospital after suffering cracked vertebrae in a fall on the gallops at Paul Nicholls’ yard on Thursday morning. We wish him well.
McCoy was schooling Denman who remains firmly on course for a rematch with Kauto Star at Cheltenham next Friday, although part-owner Harry Findlay believes the 10-year-old has his work cut out to repeat the epic 2008 win over his stablemate. I think Kauto just needs to be shown where to go.

4:30 Ayr, Diavoleria- Win. I thought that last time out at Doncaster Alegralil would have the measure of Diavoleria but I was wrong and Mick Easterby’s mare battled gamely to win.
That was a big improvement on her Newcastle win and with another performance like that I think the three timer looks a formality. The ground, course trip and weight look in her favour and despite the penalty I am a major backer today.
Denman now heads to the Gold Cup
5:15 Sandown, Lush Life- Win. Nicky Henderson is having ups and downs with his horses ahead of Cheltenham so he will be hoping for good runs from his runners over the next few days.
Punchestowns and Binocular face important workouts on Friday before Cheltenham then at Sandown Henderson will saddle a couple of runners with Lush Life being his best chance. Last time out at Ascot Lush Life beat Menorah, which is a decent performance and should easily be good enough in the context of this race.Lush Life is my NAP of the day.
