I dont know about you but I am getting very excited now about next week- Cheltenham. There are all sorts of whispers flying about at the moment and the chatter about bankers, outsiders and the big show down is coming thick and fast. A race fan is like a kid on the build up to Christmas.
The Gold Cup is the big present but all the stocking fillers are all just as good in their own way, I absolutely can’t wait. So much so that I have not had a single bet this week. The quality of racing is shocking, in comparison to The Cheltenham Festival. Like I said yesterday its a day for studying the Cheltenham form.
If you are having a bet on Thursday then take it easy, here are my free horseracing tips for Thursday.
2:30 Wincanton, Cat Six- Win. Tom Gretton has made a good start to his training career with Cat Six being his first winner. I did the same trainers course at Doncaster with Tom last year and he is clearly a man who knows his job. Formerly assistant to John Quinn in Malton he now trains in his own right and should have career winner number two here with Cat Six.
Last week at Catterick he flew home by nine lengths and is clearly in good order and off a mark of 73 could win readily, despite the seven pounds penalty. Bet bet of the day is Cat Six.
2:10 Carlisle, Edge Of Town – Win. Donald McCain has had a great season so far and his tally of 64 winners can be increased today with Edge Of Town who was a good winner last time out at Ayr. Despite the weight of 12 st 3 I feel Edge of Town can win again but would keep stakes to a minimum.
