Its serious when even the all-weather racing gets called off. Perhaps it should be renamed as it is not quite all-weather racing, but it shows the problem we are in. I see that it is likely that no jumps racing will take place in the UK until the 16th. Ffos Las may offer some hope on Saturday, but there is not much else on offer.
Thursdays schedule is for Southwell and Kempton with Huntingdon and Ludlow being called off a few days ago. Even if the two all-weather fixtures go ahead, I would recommend minimum stakes. Lingield have a scheduled mixed card which I can’t see taking place. Here are my best bets for today;
13:40 Southwell, Lord Victor- Win. Alan Mccabe is the one to follow at Southwell and should have a winner in this very poor looking claimer. Lord Victor has won two of his last three starts, all at the track and last time he won a better claimer than this, turning over an odds on favourite. I suggest that despite the price this is a good bet today.
15:10 Southwell, Hit The Switch- Win. On Tuesday Hit The Switch landed a bit of a touch for connections. Despite being off the bridle early he stayed on well, cam back on the steel and won quite well. I wouldn’t want to get too heavily involved in this race but I think Hit The Switch will win again and worth a small investment.
