Monday has three meetings, but two are on the all-weather at Wolverhampton and Lingfield. The jumps action comes from Musselburgh which is where I will focus my attention.
The weekend was poor from my point of view, this rain is a pain but at least at Musselburgh we will probably have the best jumps ground anywhere. For a Monday the jumps action is pretty good and as I said yesterday Its now time to get the Christmas cash on the kitty. Lets see what we can do today.
13:20 Musselburgh, Dumitas- Win. It will not escape many to see that Tony McCoy has made the long trip to Edinburgh for one ride for the Irish trained Dumitas who looks to have a good chance. I do not have any specific statistics to support this view but when McCoy goes for one ride it is usually worth it. Clearly this is a long journey and it should be worth it. Dumitas for his part trotted up at Tipperary last time in a bumper and looks a very good bet to get off to a winning start over hurdles first time out. Dumitas looks the best bet of the day.

Tony McCoy- One ride at Musselburgh
13:50 Musselburgh, Meridan City- Win. In a fairly weak looking novices hurdle Merdian City looks the answer and can follow up what was a very decent win at Aintree. The Howard Johnson stable has been going very well of late and Denis O’regan is riding particularly well, though is a very hard jockey to read in running. I would be amazed if Meridian City was not able to concede seven pounds to his five opponents.
14:50 Musselburgh, Sea Venture- Win. It may be a little greedy to look for three winners but I can not ignore Sea Venture who looks the obvious choice to win his first race in this seven runner affair. Tim Walford’s gelding has been knocking at the door and was denied by only a nose at Southwell last time. I have no issues with his attitude and he should go one better today for a trainer I like.
Carl Harris’ Best Bets for Monday 7 December;
- 13:20 Musselburgh, Dumitas- Win
- 13:50 Musselburgh, Meridan City- Win
- 14:50 Musselburgh, Sea Venture- Win
