Mondays Horseracing Tips, 30 November

Well what a great day we had on Saturday! Denman was sensational and the 2010 Gold Cup could be pretty special if they both get there in tip top shape. Not many horses have won two Hennessy Gold Cups and only Arkle has won it twice off top weight.

I understand it’s the Aon Chase at Newbury next for Denman before the Gold Cup. Let’s hope Kauto Star wins the King George impressively on Boxing Day, for a fourth successive season. He is odds on to do so.

Nothing remotely of that quality on offer on Monday, we are at the total opposite end of the spectrum with two jumps meetings at Folkstone and Fakenham. There is an all-weather card but as I have said before I have decided to focus on the jumps, with only the odd bet on the sand. I can not honestly say there is anything that has me breaking my neck to back today. From the cards here are the horses of interest;

13:20 Fakenham, Working Title- Win. Nicky Henderson is in pretty good form, although he will be disappointed with Binocular’s run on Saturday. Working Title has a respectable hurdles mark and was campaigned above his ability, in my view last season which is why his form figures add up to a big number. Over fences, as so many of Henderson’s horses, he should find this easier and can open his account at the first time of asking, although the price is not all that exciting.

Binocular ran below par in the Fighting Fifth

14:50 Fakenham, The Polomoche- Win. This will be much shorter and is one to double up with for a nice little bonus on winnings. Rated 145 over hurdles The Polomoche only needs to jump round to score, and should do given the schooling ability of his stable.

Numide debuts over fences

13:00 Folkstone, Numide- Win. The most interesting race of the day sees McCoy given the mount on Numide. Rated in three figures on the flat and with some very good wins over hurdles to his name Numide now tackles the big obstacles for the first time. This could be significant because Numide has the profile to be a very good chaser and indeed it may be more of a watching brief for future endeavours than a serious punt today, but if the layers are feeling generous then I will get involved.

13:30 Folkstone, Quartano- Win. Another for the doubles at a short price. There is no way this can get beaten in my view in a small field. Warren Greatrex has made a great start from his new base and managed to get a win from the tricky Free World at Leicester on Sunday. With some good horses in the stable this could be a yard to follow this season.

I may settle for a multi-bet today, which is a good way for a low cost involvement on what looks a pretty uninspiring day.

Carl Harris’ best bets for Monday 30 November;

  • 13:20 Fakenham, Working Title- Win.
  • 14:50 Fakenham, The Polomoche- Win
  • 13:00 Folkstone, Numide- Win
  • 13:30 Folkstone, Quartano- Win
