Following the news that Frankie Dettori will replace Jimmy Fortune on leading Breeders’ Cup Turf contender Dar Re Mi, bookmakers William Hill have opened betting on the number of winners the Italian will ride at this year’s meeting.
The British firm make Frankie a 7-2 chance to repeat his Breeders’ Cup double of last year, and 20/1 to secure a treble with a book of rides that includes Mastery, Delegator, and Fleeting Spirit amongst his likely seven mounts.

Kate Miller, spokeswoman for William Hill, said: ‘’Frankie clearly means business at Santa Anita this year with rides on some of the hottest European hopes of the week. After his amazing successes punters follow him devoutly and it’ll break the bank for the bookies if he turns on the style Stateside.’’
The big betting move of the day was for Zenyatta in the Breeders’ Cup Classic. The girl of the moment has proved popular with British punters, and Hills were forced to cut her odds to 7-2 from 4-1 for the big Saturday race.
Sir Michael Stoute’s trio all breezed seven-furlongs on the turf course at Santa Anita, with 5-4 Turf favourite Conduit drawing favourable comments on his appearance from watchers at Clockers’ Corner. The four-year-old was one of the most supported of the European contigent yesterday, bet into 5-4 from 11-8 with William Hill. Marathon contender Man of Iron continued his run up the betting order, now available at 7-1 from 8-1, whilst Midday was cut to 3/1 from 10/3 for the Filly and Mare Turf.
