England on the verge...
England have Ashes Destiny in Their Hands….
At tea The Telegraph were reporting;
England enjoyed one of the greatest sessions in their long history here this afternoon, turning what had looked like a horror story into an Ashes fairytale.
At 61 for none going into the afternoon session, Australia had looked to be squeezing he life out of England’s Ashes dream. But just a couple of hours later, their first innings was in tatters at 133 for eight. A lead of not much under 200 runs now looks a likely prospect, and that ought to be decisive on this rapidly disintegrating pitch. Australian collapses in Ashes Tests have become real collector’s items over the last two decades, but this was one to rank with the best.
England bowled Australia out to take a first innings lead of 172. They then went in to bat, a session that could determine the destiny of The Ashes. If England hold tight and bat on Saturday for a lead of 400+ then you have be thinking that England can win the Ashes!
Cook has failed to deliver again and was out once again cheaply. He has to be dropped for the next series. England have a genuine chance and to be out again as an opener is not good enough. The batting line up now must deliver. Cook was out for 9. He was out to North who is a part time bowler!
Ian Bell came in for Cook and was out for 4. England need better. A big score to have a 350+ lead is what is needed, but England have to do better! Paul Collingwood owes a big score, instead he is out quick! England could throw away a match winning position.
Only Strauss has hit a ton so far in the series, England need a big score, a big 100 by someone could win this series. England can win the Ashes if they deliver with the bat, something not always achieved this series. Broad too five wickets and also batted well, could it be his match? An Englishman can make himself a hero here, all we need is a big 100 and the match is in our grasp! I think England will win the Ashes, as long as they do not fail on day three with the bat!
