Update on Sea The Stars…from Sportinglife.com

Sea The Stars’ participation at York next week was further bolstered by a dry night on the Knavesmire.

John Oxx has this week expressed concerns the ground could become too testing for his magnificent 2000 Guineas and Epsom Derby hero, who is due to line up in Tuesday’s Juddmonte International.

Reassuringly for connections, the forecast 20 millimetres of rainfall on Friday failed to materialise.

Clerk of the course William Derby said: “It’s a bright, sunny day on the Knavesmire and the ground is currently good to firm.

“The rain stayed to the far north of England and in Scotland.

“There are a few showers around over the weekend, but it looks a promising picture next week.”

(reopens) York officials later decided to water the track in order to ensure conditions do not become too fast.

Four millimetres of irrigation were applied to maintain the current going of good to firm.

The forecast for Sunday remains largely dry with sunny spells, while it is a similar story for Monday and Tuesday
