Racing Diary Advice….
We have already advised readers to back Judgethemoment for Jane Chapple-Hyam who was a really good winner at Royal Ascot.  Jane Chapple-Hyam reports Judgethemoment to be on course for the race following his victory in the Ascot Stakes last week. The Newmarket-based trainer was delighted the four-year-old won the marathon handicap at the Royal meeting as his 5lb penalty ensured he made the maximum 20-strong field. She Said

“He’s fantastic and I’m very pleased with him. He’ll definitely run as long as he doesn’t pick up an injury or anything, It’s just as well he won at Ascot to get the penalty otherwise he wouldn’t get in. He’s won three on the bounce and he’ll be in the shake-up because he’s in really good order. I’ve just got to check Richard Hughes is available to ride him again as there’s a lot of good racing on Saturday. I have no-one else in mind at present and I see Jamie Spencer has gone to Arc Bleu. People were having doubts about him getting the two and a half miles at Ascot, but we didn’t have any doubts about it. Now he’s gone back to what everybody said was his right trip. You just need a bit of luck with the draw.

A repeat of that Ascot run will see him home

Back Judgethemoment at 10/1 each-way

Dangers…Quotes from Trainers…

Meshtri-
Michael Jarvis is just pleased to get Meshtri back on the course ahead of the John Smith’s Northumberland Plate as the four-year-old has not run since finishing third to Desert Sea in the Queen’s Prize at Kempton three months ago.

“He appears to be in good form though he hasn’t run for some time. We had one or two issues with some of our horses, they weren’t very well, which is why he hasn’t run,” said the Newmarket trainer. He was due to run in the Chester Cup but he had to miss that so we’ve hung on for this race. His draw (18) is not ideal but they have won from that high. My reports of the going from people who were there on Thursday said it was quite safe ground.”

Newcastle-born trainer Brian Ellison reports his two runners – Tilt and Carte Diamond – to be in tip-top shape ahead of the John Smith’s Northumberland Plate on Saturday.

My horses are bouncing, but I think it’s probably the best Plate we’ve seen for a while – very competitive,” said Ellison.

“I couldn’t be happier with my two they are in great fettle and they will run their races.Tilt should have won last time, but he got there too early. He’s in terrific form and neither have been overdone this year. They will go there fresh horses. They’ve got high draws but they’ll be dropped in so it doesn’t bother me. Carte Diamond got jarred up in his last race but he’s fine now. He wouldn’t want it too fast, but the course is like a carpet – it’s absolutely beautiful ground. What the lads there have dne to the course is fantastic. The race is worth a lot of money and that’s great. Obviously I come from Newcastle, I was born and bred there. Whether it happens that we win I don’t know, but it would be lovely and we’ll be celebrating if we win, don’t worry.”

Michael Bell believes The Betchworth Kid is more than capable of picking up some prize-money when he takes his chance in Saturday’s John Smith’s Northumberland Plate at Newcastle.

“We’re hoping the big field of a handicap like this might well suit the horse rather than running in smaller fields like you tend to get in those staying Listed races, He’s in good form and I think the hustle and bustle of a race like the Northumberland Plate will help him. I think there is a bit of rain forecast on Friday night and any they get would be extremely welcome. Bearing in mind his rating, we always intended to use a claimer and Jamie was on our radar about a month ago.Hopefully we’ll be saying afterwards ‘luckily we got him’, but we want to be saying that after the race rather than before it. He goes there with a fighting each-way chance and I’m glad he’s got 9st 2lb rather than 9st 10lb like the top-weight has. In some years our rating might well have been top-weight so that is a plus.”
