Rip Off?
Setanta goes bust, so RUK doubles its prices! Racing UK is to become a stand-alone channel again following Setanta going bust. The station aims to continue broadcasting on Sky channel 432 but the subscription price will return to their launch price of £20 a month. It was £9.99 with Setanta, and you got Live Football included. Now they want to charge double at a figurethat includes the £9.99 monthly subscription to Racing UK’s online services- even if you don’t want it!
Racing UK Chairman Will Wyatt said:
“We enjoyed a good relationship with Setanta since August 2006, and the current situation at Setanta is very unfortunate. Racing UK flourished as a stand-alone channel before Setanta, and now we have a stronger financial base and an even better relationship with our customers. Racing UK is sound, safe and assured of its future.”
Racing UK will contact their 55,000 residential subscribers shortly on how to re-subscribe directly. The channel will be free to air (for all existing subscribers) while this happens.
Racing Diary Says;
It is very unfortunate for punters who face a 100% subscription increase. This is infact a rip off! How can they justify charging DOUBLE for LESS. As part of Setanta for £9.99 per month you got Setanta 1 and 2 which included live Premier League Football and Internationals as well as the SPL. That meant the racing was worth a proportion of the £9.99 or 12.99 it went up to per month. Now they want to charge double the £9.99 and give you, racing… Just racing. Great deal for punters!
In these tough times they should have continued at the same price for less, not double for less.
