Not a great day of racing, but…
It was pleasing to see all of yesterdays bets win but non-runners and support made them short prices. Bugger!
When the market on Betfair opened last night Monaadema (7.50) at Folkstone was offered at 2.4 to back. I got what I could down to Evens which I thought that was a bit of value and clearly I was not alone in that thinking! William Haggas’ filly looks very well handicapped from only a rating of 78 and has been well supported on Betfair – now only 1.74.
Although she has not run for 348 days, when scoring a very impressive maiden win, she hails from a stable in very good form. In the last 14 days the Haggas yard has sent out 17 runners and with seven winners has a very tasty strike rate of 41%. Monaadema, the subject of good reports from Newmarket, should enhance those statistics by winning this evening.
At a more sporting price Excusez Moi (3.30) is one of 6 course and distance winners in this field of 9 at Ripon. Ruth Carr, who I have met and is very nice, is proving herself a very good and capable young trainer, having taken over from her grandfather David Chapman who has done well with his sprinters over the years. Excusez Moi is in top form with 3 wins from his last 5 outings and is back in a handicap today. Running off a mark of 95 today the 7 year-old is has previously won from marks of 96 and 99 when trained by Clive Brittain. I expect Excusez Moi to win Ripon’s feature race this afternoon.
Not much else doing today, but at least it will be a lovely sunny day.
Now remember… take an early price with Canbet..if the SP is bigger you get that and uniquely they pay back 25% of any losses…unbeatable..if you ignore this then you are crazy!
