Sariska the Clear Oaks Pick..

Unlike the Derby which looks very competitive the Oaks looks to be, at least from a form point of view, easier to solve.

Sariska Pulls Clear in the Musidora Oaks Trial

Sariska heads the market following a stunning victory at York in the Musidora stakes. Michael Bell’s filly stretched clear of the field at York over 1m 2f and it looks as if the extra 2 furlongs will suit her down to the ground. Latest news is that Sariska has worked well ahead of the Oaks, on Tuesday morning.

“She had a gentle pipe-opening gallop, just to show us that she’s well and she did everything she was asked to do,” said Hugo Lascelles, racing advisor to owner Lady Bamford. All looks good for the filly!

Aidan O’Brien has six runners in Saturday’s Derby but will rely solely on Perfect Truth for the fillies classic.

Rainbow View was red hot favourite for the 2000 Guineas but disappointed with her trainer blaming the ground. Epsom will be good going but I can not understand why Rainbow occupies second spot in the market. I will lay Rainbow View over this longer trip.

Phillipina has decent claims but I would suggest that Sariska has her measure.

When you get past the first few in the betting it starts to get a bit difficult to entertain them winning. Sariska stands head and shoulders above the other fillies in this line up.

Michael Bell has won classics before, with Motivator in 2007 who won the Dante then the Derby at Epsom. Now he bids to do the York / Epsom double with a filly. It was Johnny Murtagh who was the jockey for motivator but Bell has kept faith with Spencer who showed he gets a good tune out of the filly at York.

The ground and a step up to 1m 4f will see Sariska to good effect and I think she will win the Oaks in decisive fashion on Friday.
