This could be a thriller! It may not deliver the best football of the season but this game is essential. I have been told by a Geordie that this is the biggest game for 30 years, even bigger than the cup final. If they lose they could go down. This is Newcastle’s worst nightmare.

Three points for either team will be a god send! Both teams are poor but Newcastle are a big club, a very big club and do not deserve to go down. They will go down if not good enough, but they have to win this. Shearer needs to get his first win and he knows what it means to win in a Black and White Shirt.

Look at some of the names in the United squad;Nicky Butt, Alan Smith, Michael Owen, Damien Duff… they should not be third bottom.

Surely they can beat one of the few teams that are worse than they are, in fact one of two!
