Seventeen to Contest the StanJames.com 2000 Guineas…
After weeks of build up and will they, won’t they speculation we now have he final card for the StanJames.com 2000 Guineas on Saturday May 2nd at Newmarket. There are no surprises and Delegator will start favourite, the horse we advised at 8-1.
You can see the full racecard at Sportinglife.com, with form but here we will look at the major players and hopefully find a winner and an each-way bet for the 2000 Guineas.
You can get a Free Bet for the 2000 Guineas from Stan James and a 5% Bonus Payout, so make sure you bet with the Sponsors.
Of course we have Delegator at a nice 8-1, but we are looking at the 2000 Guineas card from the point of view of someone who has not yet had a bet. To back any horse and get a £25 FreeBet and a 5% Bonus on your winnings simply click the horse’s colours.
The Main Players for the 2000 Guineas are;
Delegator trained by Brian Meehan won the Craven Stakes at Newmarket coming from last to first under Jamie Spencer. The time was good and Brian Meehan says the horse will have improved for the run. There were doubts about his running on the ground, but he will run and is favourite. Will need to be closer to the pace.
7/2
Rip Van Winkle is well supported from the Aiden O’Brien stable who won this with Henrythenavigator in 2008. Can they win the 2000 Guineas again? Supported from 10/1 and reported to have improved. Johnny Murtagh will ride this one.
7/2
Mastercraftsman likes faster ground and beat Bushranger over 6f. Jonny Murtagh had to decide which to ride and may have chosen the wrong horse. Pat Smullen takes the ride on Mastercraftsman in the 2000 Guineas.
9/2
Evasive from Sir Michael Stoutes stable who has a great record in the 2000 Guineas, and has a strong each-way chance. Supported from 10-1 to 7/1 Ryan Moore will be aboard.
7/1
Sea the Stars is more of a Derby Horse than a miler, but is a top class horse. Mick Kinane will be aboard and this one has a solid each way chance. Group 2 winner on his last 2 year old start.
12/1
Citiscape was beaten one length by Vocalised in The Greenham , but he wasn’t race fit. Seven furlongs may have been too sharp. Taking same route as Cockney Rebel and may be one to be on each-way. Steve Drowne aboard.
14/1
Gan Amhras, trained by Jim Bolger who had the runner up last year. Second in the Goffs Millions this horse may be up against it in this company, but never under estimate Jim Bolger!
16/1
Lord Shanakill is the highest rated of these at 118 on his 2 year old form. Karl Burke reports this one to be in great order, and if he retains his form from last season may offer an each-way chance at a big price.

As well as a £25 Free Bet you will also get a 5% bonus payout if you find the winner of the 2000 Guineas.
In summary Delegator is the best horse we have seen so far, but the Aiden O’Brien horses can not be disgarded. The record of favourites is not great in the 2000 Guineas, but Delegator showed his class in the 2000 Guineas trail at Newmarket. he will need to be ridden closer to the pace and Jamie Spencer will need to be at his best. This is a hard race to call, but given what I have seen so far, Delegator is the one to be on for the Stan James 2000 Guineas, Saturday, Newmarket – 3.10 Live on Channel 4.
