Brian Meehan has been speaking about Delegator who we gave as an 8-1 Ante-Post before his Craven win. In deciding whether to trade or to keep the Ante-Post 2000 Guineas voucher I for one am keen to hear what he has to say.
Brian Meehan has given us great confidence that his horse is the one to beat in the stanjames.com 2000 Guineas. Having got Delegator at 8-1 the horse is now only 7-2 for this the first Classic of the 2009 turf season, and Meehan is looking for a fast pace to see Jamie Spencer and Delegator win well. The Craven was very slow but Delegator quickened up well to win going away at Newmarket. The 2000 Guineas is a step up in class. The time of the Craven, particularly the final two furlongs are encouraging.
Meehan told Sportinglife.com : “There was no pace in the Craven Stakes but we are sure to get one in the 2000 Guineas, and that will suit us perfectly. “You can’t come from last (where Spencer had Delegator) to first in the 2000 Guineas and we will seek to be in a better , handier, position and follow the faster pace.”
Meehan was bullish “I feel that the rest have Delegator to beat. I would struggle to nominate any one horse which we would be particularly scared of”
That is confidence indeed! He added “The Craven Win will have sharpened him up as it was his first run of the year and will have put him straight. It won’t be as easy to win a 2000 Guineas, but it might be.”
Brian Meehan is obviously confident about his horse in The 2000 Guineas which will be run at Newmarket on 2nd May.
